  1. I'm guessing they're having some problems producing all the big sprues at volume? Disappointing but I can wait heh
  2. I'm going to go broke shipping this over to Canada ....
  3. Eh what it ends up coming with in the end when it comes to decals doesn't matter too much - really nice quality waterslides would be great but if I have to aquire aftermarket decals with more details that won't bother me too much. I expect I'll be looking down the nose of some photo-etch or 3-d printed improvements for this kit anyhow on top of building some custom lighting. A large scale VF-1 has been on my wishlist forever and I expect to put a lot extra into this build when I finally have a year or two to work on it.
  4. All I have seen confirmed are stickers ( as per the HLJ ) listing -- have they mentioned waterslide decals somewhere? I can imagine some extra aftermarket waterslides might be necessary anyways depending on what they might miss but it'd be nice to have a base set of them.
  5. The shipping costs of this kit are going to be terrifying ..
  6. I guess Gerwalk is the most iconic form? I'd argue that Battroid is more iconic for me but there it is. I'm surprised they actually went with something like Gerwalk which requires probably a bit more engineering than a straight 1/20 fighter mode kit ( which I expected any single-mode kit to be ). With the size it is, I sort of expected single mode since alternate parts that are the right size to maintain proportions in each mode would add up to lots of extra plastic in the box which adds up. Still that's a lot of cash -- I'd spring for a slightly cheaper fighter mode so I can spend the next 10 years super-detailing it but Gerwalk really says 'action diorama' rather than panels open, repair diorama scene to me -- though there are still possibilities. I hope any low sales numbers due to the price don't stop the other modes from showing up.
  7. Man do I need to save my pennies -- just the scale alone is so cool

I just put mine back in its box -- I never even managed to get the armor to stay on it. One day I'll decide to pull it out and make something fixed posed and glued together out of it..

Awesome. Thanks -- hadn't managed to get a pre-order before.
  11. Frankly as long as it has good forms an proportions, small detail can be added by the modeler. Too much incorrect detail would be worse to deal with.

    Already order stop again.
  13. Base is a combination of : Cork Trivets from Ikea ( http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/87077700/ ) Vallejo Dark Earth Gel ( http://www.acrylicosvallejo.com/en_US/diorama-effects/family/35 ) Vallejo Mica Flakes Gel ( http://www.acrylicosvallejo.com/en_US/decorative-arts/auxiliary-products/2 ) Golden Crackle Paste ( https://www.goldenpaints.com/technicalinfo_crcklpst) I've done stuff with the cork before, but the other items were all an experiment -- I like how it turned out overall. Basically first thing is to tear up the cork and create your elevation with the trivet pieces -- once you have that, its time to slather on the other products -- the two gels first, which dried and then some crackle paste to create the crackled areas. Next time I make one I'll take some progress shots. Added some colour to the base -- going for a bit of an alien hellscape sort of look -- I wanted to bring in some purple but not in an overpowering manner so playing with it in the shadows. Still playing with it -- it needs more contrast to draw the eye in certain places.
  14. I've been way off the Macross area -- doing some heavily weathered stuff in Warhammer 40k :

I love the Spartan -- its so beefy and durable -- feels like a proper toy from the 80s in my hands, but with modern touches. Looking forward to the rest of the destroids.
  16. Haven't built anything in years; never feel like I'm going to do a kit justice. Decided it was time so I pulled a kit off the stash pile and just got started. Nothing fancy to be done here; just build, paint and detail. Ended up choosing my Lunadiver Stingray as my first victim.

Recently decided to start buying HMRs. A VF2 snuck in as well.

Bought one as well as a VF-2S since that's also on crazy discount; just received them yesterday -- EMS wasn't much more expensive than SAL ( like 15$ diff ) so I just went for that. The Monster is beautiful -- a large scale monster has been a real want of mine since I sold off my garage kit Monster years ago. Not quite as big, but also way more metal in it The VF-2S is exactly what I expected -- some stripped screws and really scarily brittle feeling plastic. Looks nice on its stand on a shelf though ( though I didn't have the patience to attach the super parts last night ). It'll never get played with and will probably be transformed to Battroid and stay there once I get around to building my VF-2S model kit.
  19. I haven't messed around with the canopies yet, but I'd assume if you have the buck and access to a vac table ( which I know not everyone does -- I don't ) -- then you could get a new one made if you have a problem; definitely worth holding on to I would think.
  20. My shipment came in -- quick one over of the cast; looks quite nice. I can take some pics tonight if folks are interested. Nice to see the canopies still mounted to the bucks from the forming process to keep them from getting crushed ( or at least it appears that way ). Also picked up the carrier vehicle for the atmospheric booster -- holy geez that's a huge set of resin chunks.
  21. Looks like 1 left this morning -- got my hands on mine ( + an impulse buy of the atmospheric booster launch vehicle )
  22. Honestly that concept sounds far better than this one. Macross needs to take a break from some of its tropes.
  23. Line art looks far better -- that cockpit on the coloured art is cartoonish in proportions.
  24. Yeah -- I also ordered a breadboard, some jumpers and a few other supplies for input etc ( potentiometer, switch ). I noticed the 8 LED stick has two ground pads but I've seen them wired with just 1 wired up -- logically this makes sense to me and I'm guessing you generally want to wire it on the side with the resistors? Looking forward to getting started though I'm not sure I'll get started with the SDF-1 first; we shall see. Need to wrangle how to do Fibre stuff on kits as well.
