  1. If you're going to "import" (i say that because there technically is no "legal" way to bring it in as a daily driver unless it's for strict track or show use) a GT-S, why not just go the full monty and bring in a GT-R. It's not going to hurt your pocket that much more, and you can find them for super cheap over there with low mileage. Not to mention you're getting an RB26 not a 25 and there are limitless options from there. Also if you're lucky, a lot of the R32's already have upgraded N1 blocks or OS Gaiken blocks and crap like that, i would definitely get a GT-R if i were you based on the means for which you're getting it.
  2. WRX's have ridiculous insurance rates, though 250/month is what a 16/yr old should be paying for a car like that, not a 20 something year old. The reason the WRX's (and EVO's, which have higher rates) are so bad is due to people buying and recking them. People put too much faith into the AWD system and wreck them in bad weather. Furthermore, these cars are also hot for being stolen or jacked for parts, usually the WRX isn't a prime suspect since they're more difficult to remove parts from due to its configuration, but the EVO is a prime target, which is also why the insurance rates are higher (you can steal all of the good parts from an EVO without even moving the car; one of its biggest (dis)advantages).
  3. you can d/l hijack this and post the report here, and then we can pick it apart to tell you what is malicious, this takes some time, and you may not be able to accomplish this task with your computer on the fritz. That being the case, start your computer in safe mode WITHOUT networking, just regular safe mode. Run Anti-Spyware programs like, Ad-Aware and Spybot Search & Destroy (if these aren't on your computer already, you can burn and run them directly from a CD), anti-virus does virtually nothing against spyware. After running these two programs and restarting your computer back into safe mode. Take a look at the processes running in task manager; for someone experienced they can usually pick out the one(s) that aren't normal and manually delete them in a command prompt. In this case, write down the ones you're unfamiliar with or look suspicious and go on another computer and research them in google. After you figured out which ones are malicious or replicate even after deletion, do a little extra research on the malicious executes specifically to figure out what will knock them out. I've found in about 90% of cases, ad-aware will take care of most replicating spyware/trojan threats. the last 10% normally have to be done manually, either through command console, setting the hard drive up as a data drive in another computer, or by using something like puppy linux (an OS that loads from CD and runs in RAM). It also may take a couple run throughs of spybot and ad-aware to completely catch everything; and if you're going to use either of these programs, ensure that they're fully up to date before being used or burned to a CD.
  4. You'd figure that theyd' have vehicles by now, but maybe the fact that none of the figures can sit upright is preventing that or something. If nothing else, you could always pick up the Elite Force stuff, i have an Apache with a couple 25th Joe's in it, looks pretty snazzy; still on the lookout for the F18, and if i have extra cash, might pick up the black hawk as well
  5. i've had the opportunity to purchase everyone of the waves so far, but only picked out the ones i like, I still gotta say that firefly and beach head are the best of the newer waves by far (i know they're virtually the same figure). If they release the new Commando Snake Eyes with trigger hands, i'll be sold on that too.
  6. I still play that game through MAME at work, pure classic; If nothing else is gained from this movie, at least the new Hot Toys 1/6 Pred figure looks fantastic. And i like how they went back to a more Predator like costume, not the ridiculous football armor that was in the first AVP.
  7. MacWorld AP NAGTROC (Nissan GTR forum) AR15 (lurk mostly) MW and AP are the only ones i frequently post on, the others i lurk on for info
  8. I understand your point, to bring it down to basics, i'm in the same boat as you (and many others) where home build is the only way to go, i honestly hardly keep up with any of the OEM's though i know they all purchase from basically the same ODM's so the price/build quality will be about the same. Even with laptops, i've always purchased from an ODM and then purchased parts individually. Linux IMO is pretty spectacular if you're actually qualified to use it (using the terminal, not GUI) and as surprising as it may seem has become more and more useful in the real world as companies are using linux/unix servers especially in the networking and security side of things (My last two jobs both had me administering unix servers).
  9. That's a completely different motor (2.4L NA POS), the motor this company is bumping up to 293HP already comes out the gate with 260HP (Ecotec 2.0L Turbo/Intercooled cast iron block aluminum direct injected head), which makes the gain pretty crappy IMO.
  10. I'm still not against owning an Opel GT (of course the Opel badges are what mine would have on if i ever bought one), but i've never been a fan of flame paint in any capacity, even when it looks good it's still tacky. I'm surprised they didn't get more juice out of the motor, it's cast iron block and direct injected, there are so many companies pushing almost 400 with no internal modification, they could've easily pushed the motor more.
  11. Parallels does that (runs in a virtual window) there's another program that does the exact same thing but the name of the program slips me at the moment (i have to recommend it to users that want to use macs on the network). As far as the OS's go, i think as long as your comfortable with it then use it. I'm against Apple purely for the sake of them being ridiculously overpriced and (superficially) proprietary, you could easily build a PC with superior performance and then load a copy of the MAC OS on there with better results. For the uber-geek, Linux is the way to go.
  12. i hit the jack pot today (though i probably should've taken further advantage of it), they had every wave in stock at my local wal-mart. They even had the single card wave 4 (?) (single carded duke, SE, air trooper, Gung Ho, etc.). I picked up a Firefly, and was going to pick up the Air trooper but decided against it since i was going to get the cobra legions pack at some point. Love Firefly, excellent figure, though i kinda wish his radio would fit on his back pack in some fashion so he'd be a bit more complete (kinda like Beachhead, no loose accessories). This is the same Wal-mart that i found 10 MP Starscreams at, so i think i'm going to go to this one from now on (lower income neighborhood).
  13. this looks fantastic on so many levels. So does this mean FP included in first release?
  14. looks like someone got heat for posting the latest pictures of ryu vs ken. I think in action the figures look much better, but i'm sure they're continuing to refine everything.
  15. the proportions look funny (i know they're suppose to be exaggerated but something about it doesn't look right in this instance), like his quads are way too big and his torso looks too short or something.
  16. maybe not necessarily without arms and legs so much as arms and legs being cast off (one arm here, one leg there), then again it would be cooler if there was a Ghost X-9 to blow the limbs off
  17. I actually have an extra 08 BB MIP if someone wants it, i paid 10 bucks for it, if someone wants it for exact cost plus exact shipping.
  18. shows up in device manager as a CD-ROM? If that's the case then see if you can download the latest drivers from sony and then manually apply them through device manager.
  19. i just noticed your situation; use puppy linux, burn it to a CD (it's an ISO) and then pop it into your CD drive. It works like a charm. I'll get links for it later, i'm at work and being lazy
  20. i forget, i think i was looking for information on models and stumbled upon MW (pre forum) and gawked at all of the bandai and resin models that at the time were super inflated in price.
  21. I don't have personal experience judging between the 1.6 and 2.13 M, but i do with the core 2 duo (company laptop is a 1.6, i personally own a 2.33) and it's leaps a bounds faster. In fact, an upgrade that dramatic is definitely going to be leaps and bounds faster regardless of what type of processor it is.
  22. Agreed; I'm going to assume you're discussing laptops too since i doubt you'd be between these two speeds in a desktop. If it's a desktop replacement laptop and you're going with a high end processor, you can go short on the RAM only (like Mike said) if you have prospects to upgrade for cost savings. If this is your run of the mill entertainment PC and battery life is somewhat important, then go with the 5400rpm.
