do you know enough japanese to work out the numbers? It's not hard to figure out what setting is alam and which is clock if you do. Just try one (it's either A or B, if you name the three back buttons AB and C, and the top D), set the time (it'll be A for teh hour setting, than press C, than a for 10s and b for mins, then c, and he'll flap his ears) then press D and see if he tells you the correct time. If he has, you've set the time, if not,t he alarm.

Edit that or the mods will have your ass.

Zjentohlauedy Combining Mecha
Commander McBride replied to Aurel Tristen's topic in Movies and TV Series
Very cool. I thought that the divides had to be part of the original picture, because the backgrounds in each were different. When is this image from? It has a very strong Armored-Core look, leading me to believe that it was made during the most recent of Kawamori's design phases. -
Would the VF-1's airbrake work?
Commander McBride replied to Commander McBride's topic in Movies and TV Series
Well, obviously, it's a fictional item. But I was hoping to get some practical insight into its practicality, maybe from David Hingtgen or one of the other avation experts around here. -

Hmm, that's odd. Maybe it's not a compatible format? Or maybe it's at too high of a color quality? -
I was looking at my 1/72 F-15, and I realized that it's airbrake is over twice as large as that on the 1/48 Yamato VF-1. This made me wonder if the VF-1's airbrake is a practical item at all. Simply, is it too small to have any (appreciable) effect, or would it still be useful?

Just save it and upload. I wanna see it now! The reason it doesn't work will become obvious if you try to copy and paste the image link. It'll just redirect to the main page. -
Beautiful model! I just wish I could use it in some game or other... Maybe it'd be possible to cut down the polys in the future and make an FS9 version?

Oh, It's a cosplay.com image. You can't direct link to them. Try saving it and attaching it. Edit- looks like A7 beat me to it. -

Yours. It just says "User Posted Image" in plain text. (In Firefox) (IE has a slightly different version, a "sunken" box with a red x and the same text.) -

I actually said it in my first post, anyway, I'll be modding the hekmet using foam carved to shape, with a coating for smoothness and strength, possibly fiberglass. And, yes, the suit (and helmet) came from a Surplus Store, namely, the Supply Seargent in Burbank. (Hreat surplus store, by the way, highly recommended.)

How did you get the shift knob to attach to the Driving Force Pro? Does it just attach like it would to a real car? Because, if it does, I can't wait to get my DFP, I'll put a nice Razo on it! -

I don't think I need to put into words how much I hope she'll be attending AX this year....I'm sure most of you feel the same way..... -
Ok, I've started mocking up the helmet. On closer inspection of the Anime helmet, I needed to extend the rear of the helmet down, so the bottom edge was parallel with the brim. Also, the brim is more pointed than I originally thought. The con is almost a month away, so neither is really a problem, just a bit more work. I'm just using taped up thin cardboard to simulate the shapes of the finished helmet. I've built the rear extention, and have mocked up the beginning of a "skeleton" for the brim. Attached is an image of my current progress.

Bakaretsu Hunters, as I recall. I always liked that chara design. Just curious, what con was that cosplay at? And why wasn't I there?! -
Of course. And I'm going to do a sort of build up photo series for them, just like WM does with models.

Finally comes the parachute harness. As far as I can tell, the harness seen in the anime is relatively simple, consisting mostly of straps. I have not yet determined if it has the harness is just the harness or has the attached pack, however, I believe it is the harness only. If so, the only modification will be the characteristic yellow and black shoulder pads.

Next up is the helmet. Overall, the shape is similar to the Macross Zero design. Mods will include- -Shortening the visor, and tinting it green -Building and attaching a cover for the visor to slide into. (Note- the visor does not slide up evenly on the helmet, as it is not as curved as the helmet. Therefore, the visor may have to be kept down. However, once the visor is cut to shape and shortened, this will probably cease to be a problem.) -Building the bulge around the rear of the helmet -Building the mounts for the removable lower piece -Building the lower piece itself. This piece and the mounts, will likely be carved out of styrofoam, and coated, possibly with fiberglass, to give them a smooth, durable, finish. The lower piece will probably attach with magnets embedded in the foam. -And, of course, a paintjob. The helmet will be painted white, with a red arrow along the bulge, and the visor cover will be red with a gold border and two yellow lightning bolts, to match the anime.

I've mentioned this a few times on the boards, and I've now finally gotten around to starting this project. Anyway, I'm working on making a real-life version of Shin Kudo's Flightsuit, to be worn at Anime Expo and at MWCon4. The major items are the suit itself and the helmet. The suit, fortunately being mostly conventional, is being based on a standard US flightsuit. The helmet is being built off of the closest (affordable) helmet I was able to find, a replica F-16 pilot's helmet. First, for the suit. Modifications mostly consist of a set of Macross patches, which I will probably just make using plain white fabric, colored using iron-on transfers and sewn to the suit. The chest nametag patch will be made the same way, but will be affixed to the velcro blank that came attached to the suit. Here's the base suit- (Crappy pic, taken with my cell)

Aircraft VS super thread!

I didn't know there was a DW F-14 on the way! I'm gonna have to get that! As for the F-15, yeah, I checked those forums, found out how innacurate it is. It doesn't bug me too much, as it's still an awesome model. I've been hearing (and seeing) that the F-18s, are the nicest models... but I'm not going to be inviting any F-18s into my display case!
