Actually, the HK ID sets aren't bootlegs. They're legitimate releases, licensed and all, just for HK sale. They even have the "The original copyright proprietor has licensed this.... etc warning on them, and a barcode. True unlicensed bootlegs have barcodes very rarely.

Well then I'm sorry, but you were doing something wrong. Every TP Initial D dvd has given the option between watching the 'classic' (original, uncut, unaltered) version and the 'tricked out' version (the terrible one with all the video edits). Bottom line - it's just a dub. Who cares when the proper version is there in it's correct form anyway. The one I watched was a very early production model, before the DVDs went on sale. Maybe that's why the Classic version didn't work properly. Still, the TP DVDs are in the neighborhood of 25 bucks for 4 episodes. The HK sets are 35 for the entire series! And the subtitling and video quality are as good as, if not better then, the TP version.

On the subject of "where the real action is", my intent has been for some time to eventually go into homicide. I think I've watched too much Law & Order in my days, I can't even consider otherwise! One nice thing about LAPD, at least, is that they don't seem to have an issue weapon, and instead allow officers to choose their own weapons, judging by what I see officers carrying. I see everything from Glocks and M92Fs to a Browining Hi-Power. (Carried by a female officer! Who was, interestingly enough, also carrying one of the gun-style Tasers on her other side) I also saw something interesting last week, a normal uniform officer carrying his Glock in a drop-leg tactical holster, which I didn't know was permitted. When I'm in, I'm thinking a Sig Pro 2009 would be nice, as I really like the ergonomics of the gun, but I'd really hope they start issuing .45 rounds as I've been hearing, as that would allow me to get that Wilson CQB Tactical I've always wanted....

The copy of the first tokyopop DVD that I watched did not allow the effects to be disabled. Selecting either the original version or the dub didn not make a diference. Addtionally, only an idiot would buy the Tokyopop DVDs. Regardless of the Japanese version changes, the edits TP has made to the dub are such that no true fan of Anime should support such a horrible desecration of any series. Buying them is giving the message to Tokyopop that it's OK to do such things to series. What if someone did this to Macross?....... Oh, wait, THEY DID! It was called Robotech! The difference is that was 20 years ago, before anime was even a word known to most americans. Do we want to return to an age like that, where companies edit series to such a degree that they have no connection to the original but the animation?

I like the MP5 a lot, never fired a real one, though. (Or any other gun, for that matter... ) Have you fired the MP5/10 or the MP5/40? They seem like promising weapons for CQB. Just wondering, by the way, are you a PO or what, I've noticed you referring to dealings with the PD a lot and such things. I'm personally in college now, specializing in Admin of Justice, gonna be going into the Acedemy as soon as I'm 20 1/2. I'm just worried that I'm going to have trouble with the marksmanship parts, entering the academy, never having fired a gun in my life.

I prefer the XM733 to the M4. The shorter barrel is much more managable in CQB.

Well, if you watch the Japanese version, they simply added a lot of stupid video effects (split screen, negative, etc). However, if you watch the English dub: -some of the worst writing of all time. Everyone has suddenly become a wannabe rapper. -New music, very low quality rock and rap. -Edits in the content of the dialouge, including stuff that later becomes central to the plot. -All the car sounds changed from the authentic sounds in the Japanese version to generic ricer sounds. -Character names all changed.

I think they only released the first three, they want you to get into it that way, then pay out the ass for the rest. Pick up the DVDs if you haven't already, and make sure you get the HK sets. Tokyopop absolutely ruined ID with their edits.

Actually, I'd just like to walk around in an empty city. It just seems like it would be cool. Also, imagine how fast you could drive, you could do Bullit type stuff, and you could drift city streets! Besides, everyone knows empty city = zombies, and zombies = cool.

I just got this issue myself yesterday. I don't have any of the WST series, so it's a pretty cool thing to get. My only complaint is that Megs is hard to transform, due to teh tiny size of his parts, but that's a WST issue, not an issue with this release.

I wouldn't say Fry's has bad service..... They have no service! It's possibly the biggest store of its kind, and not a salesperson in sight! And, on the off chance you find one, they have no idea what th ehell they're talking about. I saw one salesman tell a guy that that some piece of crap with a GeForce MX and integrated sound would be a good gaming rig! I went right up to the guy and told him to leave and go to PC Club! Fry's does have its benefits. For electronics, if you know exactly what you want, they have the best prices and selection around. Haha, I have the exact thing happen all the time. I'll bet I have sold more products at Fry's than anyone who works there. But, yet, they for some reason won't hire me.

Memory stick is no worse than the other half-dozen flash RAM form factors out there. Actually, I'd have to disagree on that. Memory Sticks are expensive, akwardly shaped, fragile, and relatively large. When you consider that you can get the same storage capacities from a postage stamp sized SD card, and for less money, MS loses a lot of its appeal. It was also doomed to failure simply due to being a proprietary format.
