  1. Good thing I checked with you guys, so far I'm not sure what "good" resins casts are exactly, but since there's quite a following for Valk009's VF-4, then I guess I can't go wrong.
  2. I've found another one here at monsters in motion. It's cheaper, but then what about the quality? How is this one? http://www.monstersinmotion.com/catalog/pr...products_id=134
  3. Ah, what the heck, sign me up for definately 1 order there Valk 009. Yeah this IS on my list of Valkyries to get anyways.
  4. The pressure is on, but I'm still iffy. How hard is this kit to get? I mean is this like the holy grail of Macross models? I'd love to get one... but I'll hold until I see the final production of what I'm getting. If Valk 009 can post the completed mold of what exactly I'm getting, then I'll put a definate order in.
  5. Just a few questions first. I've never worked with resin so how's it different than say a norma plastic kit? Penguin might help me out here since we're driving distance from each other. What payment methods do you accept? Put me on the pending list for now. I'll update you asap.
  6. Hello again folks, So I've been browsing around the Hasegawa models on a few sites on the internet and I'm already aware that they do not have plastic kits for these two. This question has probably been posed numerous times before, but I dare ask again, why are there no plastic kits of these two wonderful valkyries? Do they not deserve their own little spot? I thought it would be very logical to add these to the Hasegawa line, but perhaps of some copyright issues? Un-popular with fans? No interest in part of the manufacturer? This topic has probably been beaten over like a dead horse, so yeah.
  7. What. You did all that with a single action airbrush? Whoa. And here I am still fumbling away with my VL Paasche double action. It's a good brush and all, but I'm still very, very new using this.
  8. That's what I'm thinking. Plus the INTERNET is full of galleries so you can see most of his famous works. Still... it depends how macross-hardcore you are. In other news, I picked up the 1/72 Hasegawa Elintseeker and Super Ostrich today. Got them for $40 Canadian each and the guy took off the tax since I got two kits. How much are you paying for your kits? WM, excellent work, again don't mind me asking these questions since I find it pointless to start a whole new thread JUST for Valkyrie prices etc....
  9. Hey WM, So I did my primary base with vallerjo off white which I think is acrylic, and I did my wash with the humbrol oil and it seemed to work okay. So I guess the testors oil based flat white shouldn't harm the base coat eh? Oil and acrylics. Also, is there anyway you can scan that Valkyrie Book you have? I love to see more of his works, but I feel paying like $40 some is just a rip off. Sorry. Ido, I haven't started on the Canopy decals yet. I've leave the cockpit area last since the paint job is the worse there, terrible. I'm not impressed with the vallerjo paints (the dude at the shop said these were the best) but they came out all gross and thick and I tried paying with the pressure settings and even putting some thinner, but no go. I just ended up coating the cockpit part with tamiya flat white, then washed it with humbrol oil grey to match the weathering of the rest of the air craft. I might pick up some of those stuff WM mentioned today...
  10. Thanks! Yeah these decals aren't as bad as I thought, and I find them more forgiving then Revell's decals when I put on the USS Enterprise. Those were a pain since you had these long strips that had to be perfectly aligned. I got most of my experience from that so these Valkyrie ones are easier. However I find that since you have so much texture under the decal on the Valkyrie that it masks all your hard work. Which tone (black or white or grey etc) do you use for this wash?? I might still be in luck to get a nice finish. I'm thinking light grey to oil white (flat) with my testors oils. I only have a dark grey Humbrol for oil, the rest are tamiya acrylics. Also, isn't it quite late where you live now in Toronto? Like 1:30 ish? 11:30 here.
  11. Great work WM! Alrighty, I think I'm in a bit of a pinch applying decals here. So these hasegawa are water slide decals, however, I totally forgot to take into consideration that these are opaque decals therefore they cover up all the detail underneath on the model itself. So... how DO you make these decals look like someone actually painted them instead of putting a big STICKER on it... I've put some of the decals on so far and I just placed decal # 4,5,6 of my VF-1A onto the main body. So yes, its hiding all the detail underneath, and it's kinda freaking me out here. Also, how the heck did you manage to get the UN SPACY decals on the legs -engines to show through all the small little "screws" and bolts when the decal is all blacK? I hope I didn't do anything irreversable here. I already laid down that long decal for the legs... help! Thank so much, I know I sound like a total whiner here. EDIT: Oh I see some of the decals sinking in and forming with the lines and details. Ah I see I see... I see some of them starting to show up here, but still how about that UN SPACY part? WM Cheng help here?! Why are these the worlds "bestest" decals? <3 Hasegawa
  12. Alright thanks, I got them back in-line, but I'm seriously thinking of glueing them solid. I know this will totally lose the swing feature, but I think that's what my bandai 1/55s are for. Also, snipping those small head light and wing lights are such a pain in the arse and glueing them on! Argh, I dropped one on the floor now and it's thick carpet. Good bye light. I'm just using some glue to fill in the spot so I'll have to think of a replacement.
  13. Er, I think I've got myself into a pretty big pinch with the wings. I took out the wings and I have the wing tabs for you to slide the wings in, however now I swung one too far and it's loose, but the other one seems jammed in. Now the left tab is almost perpendicular to the fuselage while the other is like 50 degrees the other way. Help!
  14. I'm done using up grey paint from two of my tamiya paint jars. They about 1/2 ounce type bottles and I'm wondering if I should keep them for mixing paint and stuff or just chuck em. What do you do with your empty paint bottles?
  15. The only thing that is stopping me from glueing it on right now is that I want to put the pilot in but I don't have the weapons set yet, so I'm probably going to have to keep it in some sort of small box or something. I might have to future it again...sometime in the future.
  16. Thanks for your help guys. I actually did manage to find some Future today at Wal-Mart and dunking in the canopy right now as I'm typing. Well the canopy isn't "scratched" up per se, but it looks somewhat worse than the canopy you posted. My digital cam is busy charging now so I'll post pics of what I've gotten done so far. Its kinda hilarious now that I actually used toothpaste (Colgate I think) in the mint flavour and added some Simple Green cleaning solution to the mix, then tossed it in Windex. It came out with this gawd awful smell, but I don't think it did the canopy any damage. Now I'm gonna raise the canopy outta of the cup of future and witness the results... EDIT: Holy S___. I swear to God this must be from the future. It just made my canopy BETTER than when it was factory sealed. Best $7.03 spent, EVER.
  17. It's no longer a rumor. Go to pretty much any Wal-Mart in the city to get it. I got mine at Northlands in the NW area for about $7.03 with tax.
  18. Cheng, I totally don't mean to steal this thread, but since you're on canopy polishing and such: Egad, so I tried your way of working up to 1500 and 2000. I hope I sanded it correctly... I am 100%sure I'm using 1500 plus since it has this giant 1500 on the back of the paper, and I think that's what it said on the package before I threw it out. >_> The problem is, I don't have any future, and I've never seen any in my life. Are there any other alternatives that I could use? When I did your step five, it seemed to work as the toothpaste (yes I used toothpaste because that's all I had at the moment), seemed to get some of the scratch marks away, but made it more foggier. So I tried to rinse with water perhaps to rid of the paste and then applied some simple green and windex. No go, the scratch marks still show up, but it looks better than before with all the major scratch marks from sanding without toothpaste. What should I do now? Also, is there a possibility that I could over sand and actually break through it? That's what I'm afraid of the most if I do have to resand it. How common is this to occur?
  19. Wm cheng, I am thoroughly impressed by your skill in making these valkyries. I'm just starting out myself and your latest posts about the canopy relieved my fears that I scratched it with my 1500+ sandpaper. Well it does have quite a few scratch marks along the seem but I want to get that foggy look at first, do you just keep scrubbing away with the 1500+ then build up? I hope the stuff I'm using is actaully 1500 because I'm not really sure, the paper doesn't say anything of what grit it is. Also, is future floor absolutely required? I've never seen that in any of my stores like wal mart etc. So to get the foggyness off you just use some paste? Can regular toothpaste work to get the foggyness off? I'm not quite too sure here. Thanks for your reply in advance, !
  20. So I take it that mahq.com has more accurate data on mecha-aniem related things? That's pretty much the source I look at, but I was wondering what wiki had to say about it.
  21. Well I still do consider myself quite new to the Macross universe. After seeing 2012 Flashback, I noticed well quite a few things. Hayase now looks like she's the commander of the of Megaroad. Now what exactly is this Megaroad? From wikipedia: So what series is this exactly in? or was it just another thing they put in 2012 like the VF-4 Lightning? ****SPOILER**** Also, I think I did read in the Macross timeline that Hikaru does marry Hayase in the end... can't remember when exactly.
  22. I'm glad I'm checking up on this thread as I'm pretty much doing the same kit here. I've already did the wash for the landing gear bay since it'll be tough when I'm already painting with the airbrush etc to get it all in again. One question though, how do I get that ugly crease line down the middle of the cockpit canopy to go away? I already used like a 2000+ sandpaper to try to get it off but ended up scratching it!!
  23. Looks like someone should check out Densha Otoko. Also, a little blurb is found here,
  24. I do have a feeling it will be the last episode for TSR since it's showing at 12:15 AM Japan Local Time. Normally they show it at 12:00 AM midnight. It must probably be shifted for a different time slot since it *might* be an extended episode. Check it here.
  25. Wow, great to see a FMP-TSR thread here too! I've got the 12th episode but haven't seen it (leaving to a comic/toy convention in 3 minutes after eating my eggos). ***SPOILER*** DONT READ QUOTES IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN Meh, I wasn't all that happy with the last two episodes, but at least it did show some character development.
