  1. Still $300 just for a PSP doesn't quite justify me to shell it out. I'd rather put this to a PS3 or even the multitude of games I still have yet to get. VP2 for sure, then FFXII, MGS3: substance...MORE Macross Plastic kits... Man, I need a pay raise.
  2. I'll definately check this out in theatres. I did enjoy MI:2 even though it mainly action packed rather than spy vs spy. Although, I'm not going to go into some "hype" mode with a countdown and everything. I'll just casually catch it in theatres when I have time (and a few gift certs left from my bday).
  3. So... I just scooped up a VP game for $90 USD on Ebay. Discussing payment details with the guy now. http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1 At least I'll get to play the original (I hope ...in about 2 weeks maybe) before venturing to get the sequel. Personally, I think that's an okay price, versus buying a whole new PSP for $300 CDN plus the game...another $60 at least. Just to play the PSP version of the first game....a bit too much overkill now don't cha think? Plus I get to play on my TV set instead of a portable thing. I really was never into portable gaming. I prefer reading a book instead.
  4. How do you read? Sorry, I'm sorta...blind.
  5. Looks like I'll probably get the Japanese version of Valkyrie Profile 1 for PS1 Books. I'll probably only catch like 5% of whatever they're saying, but then again the voice acting is supposedly better, and it's only $40USD instead of the regular $150... but then I need a mod chip for about $140....doh.
  6. But then again that's quite the reason why I watch it. Sure I get the "in your face" action from Bleach and what-not, but I think P2 is a perfect example that one can create a serious-dark like mood via the animation medium.
  7. Dude,I don't believe. What's even harder to believe is the cheapest you can get for VP1 for PSX is about 100 USD. I still haven't gotten my hands on one.
  8. Quite interesting, I have the Gundam Fix Figurations of the EX-S Sentinel 0011, Deep Striker 0013, and the ZZ Gundam. 0022 Those definately are one of my favorites. I also have the 0026 which is somewhat interesting too. But then again the price of the mags...whoa. Well something to look out for.
  9. Well the town that I live in doesn't have that much stock for japanese anime model stuff. There are a few (like 2 to be exact) shops in China town and they have a pretty limited stock. I'll probably be going off of HLJ...
  10. About time they finally put Patlabor on the spot light. For the longest time, Manga Entertianment was the only US-stateside licensee of the Patlabor movies. Hopefully this will make Bandai somehow remanufacture more Patlabor plastic kits. But then again this is Bandai USA, not the good ol' Bandai in Japan. Err.... >_> I personally could't care less for Honneamise as I didn't really get into it. For me, it's a one time affair, however Patlabor 2 I could watch probably once every year to give it that special treatment. It's the sort of movie that you can't over do it. Too bad I can't say for Honneamise, I just never really got into it while watching. The OST was nice though...
  11. Model Graphix, how much is this? Is this a subscription type magazine/zashi or a guide book? Where can I get/order this?
  12. This makes me want to do a step by step for my Patlabor kits. Since I have all three of them plus the EXLT, I've got a pretty interesting collection on my shelf that is supposedly rare to get these days, especially Ingram 1 and 2. Then again, I'm a newb at this so I'm probably not the best to listen to. Just like any other methods, mine are just suggestions and are not the "bibles" of modeling. Everyone has their ways and we can take and share what we know from each other.
  13. Could you tell me which books in particular were not helpful, as well as which ones, besides the mentioned Fine Scale Modeler, are helpful?
  14. Howdy folks, Right now, much of my focus for modeling is based around mecha/scifi/anime type stuff. I find I've a greater liberty and freedom to not be constrained to make it look like an EXACT replica of perhaps a M1 Abraham Tank or a British Spitfire. Perhaps that's what attracts me to Bandai's massive monopoly of the Gundam franchaise and Hasegawa's production of their Valkyries. I will eventually start to work on modern day fighter jets and such, but now I'm in the experimenting stage and I'm still a total newb to most of the modeling world. I'm thinking of getting some good Gundam Modelling/Gunpla books from HLJ, as well as the Tenjin's Valkyrie Illustration book found here: http://www.hlj.com/product/KOB90124 What is your guys' opinion of say... the Hobby Japan zashi/magazines pretty much going through Gunpla. Are they worth the hefty price that you pay from the import book store? Are most of the illustrations easy to follow for the non-Japanese language modeler? I do understand some basic phrases and sentence structure in hiragana and katakana, however most of the actions and verbs have kanji roots which I don't want to touch with a 10 foot pole, yet. Other books I'm considering ordering off HLJ: http://www.hlj.com/product/MDW22483 http://www.hlj.com/product/HBJ25283 http://www.hlj.com/product/MDW23079 Also, what modeling books in English do you recommend and about how much are these? I hear that Fine Scale Modeler is a good start.
  15. Where did you get it? Mainly the only ones I've seen are the ones used for the model cover box art. How many pictures are in this book? Does it give some mini technical analysis of each Valkyrie (I'm a totaly stats "whore" kinda person, I love stats/numbers) somewhat akin to http://www.mahq.net/? How many pages, pictures, and other notable features are in this book? Also what's the dimension of book? If I do get it, I'll most likely get it from HLJ. They do have some instock.
  16. What websites/books do you refer to, to extract this type of information. I love these types of military lingo or phrases. Along side with anything infantry or even police/law enforcement based lingo. <3 <3 <3. Can I have a visual?
  17. Speaking of which, I've yet to find if Bandai or any other companies have started to come out with FMP model kits of the Arm Slaves. I'm not so much interested in the trading figures- gashpon, but prefer more articulated and to scale figrues. I'm sort of surprised that it's been technically three seaons now (including Fumoffu) that I've yet to find a model kit. Arbalest come baby come.
  18. 6'3" is massive for a Lynn Minmey figure -cosplayer. She's just like 5'3" I read somewhere, so a 6'3" would be more appropriate for someone like...Focker! Maybe she spent too much time in space and the lack of gravity caused an unusual stretching of the human torso. =o
  19. As much as I am of a Patlabor fan, I'm sure there are many other movies with the whole robots going crazy, but none are coming to my head now. I blame Murphy's law.
  20. A robot in disguise. I bet she's the female counterpart to C3P0, so she can "feel" pain but perhaps doesn't really experience it. there are numerous instances where C3PO feels "pain": he gets his legs soldered by R2D2 and yells at the droid to watch what he's doing. He's on chewbaccas back and knocks his head onto the roof of the ramp of the millenium falcon. Perhaps Rei switched off her pain recepters when Gendo went in for the dive with his hands. No really, I didn't expect EOE to still be stuck in my head because of the ending. It's the same feeling as after seeing Kill Bill for the first time, it sticks in your mind for a few days.
  21. I somehow will actually not die of pure "zomg...<_>" ness. When I heard that the US wanted to make a live action AKIRA, I just turned off my computer and went to sleep, making it as a bad dream.
  22. I mean how would you feel if Frodo made it to Mount Doom, was about to throw the ring into the lava when suddenly, he gets sucked into some funky colorful weed induced (or whatever that thing Gandalf smokes) hallucinations where he sees Samwise talking in riddles and it ends there? How would you feel if Luke Skywalker was getting lightning zapped by the emperor, he goes into a trippy dream and it ends with Darth Vader saying "Congratulations, Luke". End of Episode 6. You get the point. 348489[/snapback] I'm crying of laughter. As well, I didn't quite expect so many responses, albeit some of the funny spam. Yeah, blue hair. How is it done. I was actually just trying to sleep just now and I just can't seem to fall asleep. I look at my hands, and all assuden mini heads of Rei start popping up from my finger nails.
  23. Done. See here: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...=0entry348421 All EVA talk stops here in this thread and may continue in the link provided. BACK 2 MACROSS!
  24. And so I did. I just happened to "raid" a macross orientated thread and all assuden just sputtered stuff that related to 95/97. I'm sure Eva doesn't really need any background information, simply because there's thousands of fan sites, as well as hate sites, of this anime series. I did this just because of pure lamentation after seeing End of Eva. So have at it. All mourning, discussing, praising and cursing can be done here for Anno's controversial piece.
