Sorry, I really just follow Macross when it comes to anime mecha shows. Given how prolific Gundam is, I thought it was a good guess.... or at least had the highest odds of being right. Most robot shows just don't interest me. I generally hate the ones that have some pre-teen as the pilot of the most powerful robot in an army (with a few exceptions), robots that combine into a stronger robot, and robots with moving lips. *sigh* Besides Macross, the few mecha anime I liked include: Ride Back, 宇宙 の Stellvia, iDOLM@STER Xenoglassia, Sidonia の 騎士, Scrapped Princess, 蒼き鋼 の Arpeggio.

I kind of agree with you on this. New collectors may enter the scene and wish to buy recent re-issues. Case in point... me. I have been collecting for less than a year. I happily bought the Arcadia Max, Miria, Hikaru, and Roy VF-1 toys, as well as the VF-4G, rather than pursue their Yamato v2 predecessors, partly due to convenience and partly due to an improved hip latching mechanism. Granted, I also bought a lot of Yamato v2 toys, but only in those cases where Arcadia did not yet have a re-release out.

Well, I went from having none of the DX Chogokin Macross Delta or Frontier valkyries to suddenly having 3 and 1 (Renewal), respectively. I blame @spannerentirely! Oh yeah, also got another Elintseeker... because radome-equipped valkyries are the best!

I am glad I cancelled my Bandai DX Chogokin VF-1J pre-order. I just cannot deal with yet another scale. I am too invested into the 1/60 (Yamato v2, Arcadia, DX Chogokin Macross Delta and Frontier) and the HMR to also go into the 1/48 toys too. Just not enough space in my condo or money in my purse.

I have ordered from Mandarake several times. No problems whatsoever.

I cancelled my pre-order at CD Japan. I don't know if it will open up a pre-order opportunity for any of you wanting the VF-1J, but thought I would mention it just in case.

Actually, I am kind of pondering cancelling my DX VF-1J pre-order or selling it, in favor of consolidating to the HMR and the 1/60-ish scale Yamato v2 / Arcadia / DX Chogokin lines. Having a 1/48-ish scale valkyrie just does not fit in with all the other toys in my collection... and I don't want to start collecting yet another line of toys in a different scale.

Update. Amazon JP has lowered the price on the VF-1D again. From 6,567 yen down to 5,883 yen. (That's about $51.96) Those who pre-ordered before the price drop have the updated price automatically applied. I am really loving Amazon JP now!
