So, got my non-defective one in (from Amazon Japan) and I have to say that Bandai's factory is really slipping. Lots of little things like threads, dirt, smears, and one terrible nub I had to trim off before the arm and leg would slot together (stuck out a good 2mm). Also, anyone else have an issue with the front of the torso not wanting to stay tabbed down? The bit right above and behind the heat shield. All of that aside, it certainly is impressively engineered.

I figure it's mostly just scalpers trying to cash in on the uptick in demand.

Well, NY has decently low prices to begin with, and IIRC he has his bulk orders shipped via ferry, which is incredibly cheap and takes 3 months. My 2 via Amazon Japan are ¥13,212 shipped, or about $119.
-
Man, I'm really glad I got 2 sets of those regults when they were at "retail". $400 is more of a percentage increase than even the 31A.
-
Ok, that makes more sense, never seen the original art.

...Why did they make Gomez fat? Just generic "Dad's a fatass, mom's attractive" approach?

In the US you can track SAL shipments through USPS as soon as they hit customs.
-
Looks like this is one that'll sell out, rather than sit and get discounted like the VF-2.
-
You can try returning it, and hoping the next one they ship is better.

I think unfortunately you got a bad one, at least compared to mine. My copy has lighter panel wash in most places, and seems to have a bit less of the upwards look to the bow. I did notice that my landing bay side-pods are uneven, but it's not too noticeable.

Thanks for the heads up Alex. Ordered one there to replace the defective one from HLJ. If anyone's interested in a VF-4 with missing right leg sliding cover, it's yours for $100+shipping (from California), otherwise I'll send it back to HLJ for the refund.
-
Yup, right leg is missing the sliding cover, left leg is fine.
-
Well, heard back from HLJ. They can't get me a replacement, either send it back for a full refund, or they'll give me 10% of the price back as store credit. A bit torn, since without the leg cover it's only good for fighter mode, but I do have a second one on the way from CDJ.
-
Well, good thing I decided to transform my VF-4, turns out one of the legs was missing the sliding cover. I've contacted HLJ about it, hopefully I can get a replacement rather than a refund.

Whoops, wrong thread.

Pretty sure at least some of the images are a prototype, given the irregular fitting of the sections at the saucer rim.

Just got mine in the mail from HLJ. There was a bit of residue on one of the canards, but it wiped off. Otherwise looks good.

Nice to see an update, can't wait for another VF-1 for the shelf.
-
I made the Luca RVF-25 kit, and the VF-27 Brera kit (which is quite similar. Both are actually pretty well engineered, and transform nicely (the exception being locking the intakes and legs in for VF-27 Gerwalk). Might be the armor pack that's causing a lot of the issues, I find Luca tabs in pretty nicely all around. The transforming VF-31 and SV-262 models however are much better.

Matched Chuck the closest, given the images that have been floating around of his DX.

DX Chogokin isn't really 1/60, it's more "all robots roughly the same size".
