    Oh this news is awesome!

    April 2008 I cannot wait! ^_^

    Thanks again man. :)

  2. At this point, I'm hoping my refurb lasts until the next real update---65nm GPU. From what I can tell, they "cooled down" the wrong processor (CPU). The really hot one that sits under the drive and heats it up to disc-warping temps(GPU), is still 90nm.

Plus, disc drives still vary. There are currently 4 main one in use AFAIK:

Loud Hitachi. (not launch-loud, but close)

Quiet Hitachi. (almost as quiet as a quiet Benq)

Loud BenQ. Loudest ever used in a 360.

    Quiet BenQ. Quietest of all.

You can get a 360 built last week, and it'll have the same loud Hitachi as one from 18 months ago. Or a silent one. Or a super-loud, slow-loading BenQ. Even getting the coveted BenQ is no guarantee of getting a good drive. (Different drives do load at different speeds--normally not much of an issue, but since ME streams off the disc constantly, 1/2 second DOES make a difference)

Or if you're really unlucky, a year from now you get a 360 with a 65nm CPU, a 65nm GPU that never overheats and lasts forever---but has a super-loud, slow-loading drive.

Trying to get one of the 360's with HDMI and the new drive David?

I wish I could find a way to get one.

360 went beserk when it didn't even load the textures properly for ME, gave me a disc read error, and just crashed. :(

System still works like a charm most of the time though.

  3. I just finished it a few minutes ago. Definitely the most rewarding experience I've had with my 360 so far. Halo what now? In all honesty, for a new IP, the ME world is remarkably fleshed out. It's definitely a setting I'm looking forward to revisiting, be in in games, novels, movies, or even a good tabletop RPG.

Anyway, quick question... in KOTOR and Jade Empire, regardless of how you played most of the game, there were in both games a "point of no return," if you will, where you make a choice that determines your ultimate ending. Am I correct in assuming that

in ME, it's whether you rescue the Council or hold back the Fleet? Are there three different endings for ME, then, one for each choice? Does the conversation you have during the ending have anything to do with it?

I don't know how many endings are, but there are at least two. And depending on how you end the game, it will really affect things in the next game. Completely change the political climate. I'm on my 3rd playthrough right now, and I'll try fiddling with the ending again... I'm playing as a paragon but I'll try the "renegade" ending and see if anything is different.

I believe if you are playing as paragon you do get the options

to either destroy the Sovereign or protect the council fleet, I'm not sure about a third as changing any choices after that wouldn't affect much, probably different dialogs but thats it. Of course without thinking twice I went after the Sovereign, the ending was fantastic.

  4. Its probably me but I'm so paranoid over making another character after my first one, even doubting what I picked for my first one.

I felt I should have picked the default marine statues instead of picking the default character model with vanguard event though I beat the game. <_<

And now I'm playing through as Jane being a infiltrator, ugh this is so agonizing. And she is not even cute, should I just remake her character? (Some recommendations would be nice)

I'm still doing Eden Prime so I still got some options...

I'm thinking of playing through marine with a custom and default character, then go custom with everything else. And even when selecting a difficulty setting I can't make the choice.

Ack I'm not even sure of that either, how do you guys deal with these type of things? :(

    Edit: Almost double posted.

  5. I think I'll make the renegade a soldier with throw... I want to have two different styles of game play for ME 2

Guys guys, ME just came out give it a break I doubt we'd see ME 2 for a good while.

But I did start out with a Vanguard and my are they the most kick ass class ever.

Is there ever going to be a update to fix the graphical hitches though?

  6. Just beat Mass Effect.

I'm just wowed at this game, no game that I have ever owned gave such a strong impact on me, ever.

The ending was just incredible too...

The Normandy really kicked ass in the last scene with that final shot (Was it the only time it fired? Cause if it is then woah...), it just took down the Sovereign down in one shot. I mean just look how small the Normandy is compared to that ship!

This is a game I'm going to treasure for years to come, now I don't want to play it anymore. :p

Reason is that I'm just hate playing the bad guy now, even though their are so many other options included with it, I like to be a nice dude and making some decisions.

Thank you so much guys for recommending me this game. ^_^

  7. Sony etc systems don't drop much. Nintendos do. I came THIS close (and should have) to buying a MISB revised NES from TRU for 30 bucks. N64's were 99 after a while (funky colors though), and GC's have been 99 for a long while. GC launched at 200, went to 150 in less than a year, and 100 in less than 2 years.

Sony drops their prices, Nintendo doesnt.

Only reason why the price of the GC is cause it lacked to create much competition at all.

The regular DS is priced at $100, while the lite is at $130. The value of the regular DS should have went down, the model is really outdated.

Hell even New Super Mario Bros, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing and those other games are still priced at $35 and Nintendo doesn't even bother to cut the price down a bit. And they have been out for the longest time. <_<

  8. Anbody know of a good free media player which will play .flv files and allow you to go through the video frame by frame.

The free player I'm currently using called 'VLC Media Player' has no frame by frame function and a really slow pause function. When you hit pause, it takes 2-3 seconds beforethe video actually pauses. Completely useless for trying to capture images.

    Graham

My recommendation is to use VirtualDub or VirtualDub Mod but mod seems to have better compatibility and less crashes although features are gimped a little.. Not sure if it plays FLV files but it relies on your codec to work; it should be able to capture frames though.

    Hope that helps.

  9. I'm waiting for the Wii to get cheap at this point. I still like 10x more Virtual Console games than Wii games, and I'm not paying $250 to re-play stuff I played years ago. Mario G alone isn't worth it. Maybe 4 years from now, when Wii's are 99 bucks and include Mario Galaxy and Metroid 3 as pack ins...

Honeslty the DS has been out for about three years while and the only price cut there is about $30, and thats off the previous gen. Nintendo hardley ever issues any price cuts since they know their prices are more then reasonable.

$250 for the Wii is a steal too, I see no reason to complain over that price either. By the time the Wii is $99 (Which would be like never) you would have wasted all the time and money invested in even considering the sytem, which would be a bigger loss then waiting for that price drop.

  10. Uh-oh. Assassin's Creed is getting a lot of mediocre reviews, and they all agree on what's wrong. Maybe I should switch my pre-order over to Contra 4 for the DS. (The only other game I want that's coming out this year)

Thats not what metacritic is saying, even showed other reviews to compare

But they are pretty fair, if it's any site to check up on game reviews it'd be them.

    Edit: Link refix.
