  1. Not when the company is probably hemorrhaging money like a pumping artery over this issue. It's terrible to say but if I was MS I'd be spending as little as possible on the refurb repairs. I imagine the "repair center" is probably more like a chop shop than an actual honest to god technical repair center... the place is probably a bunch of minimum wage grunts with screwdrivers all in a row... one set of them taking the boxes apart, another set throwing away the broken parts, another set bolting in new parts and yet another set screwing them back together. And probably like any assembly line the "quality control" testing is probably just one special station staffed by a fat guy who just shoves the console into some jacks, flips it on, waits for a series of lights on his panel to light up signifying the deck is "working" then he shuts it off, yanks the leads and puts it in the "done" pile.

I mean, by all accounts MS is losing money on each unit sold... then guess that each unit sold has to be repaired at least once. That is even more money lost. The redesign of the system can be seen as a proactive cost effective measure as it will be cheaper to produce and potentially cost the company less in the long run from fewer returns for service... but the "repair process" is most likely subbed out to the lowest bidder staffing the cheapest cost people doing the fastest job possible. There is no way they have a room full of lab-coated certified computer electricians in clean rooms gingerly inserting and repairing these things with the utmost care and respect then wiping them off with lemon pledge and a chamois, giving each a little gentle kiss on it's lid as they carefully pack it with love into it's little box to go back to you. If anything those systems probably get dirtier being fixed...

Microsoft is at a point in which they are starting to make money for each console.

Technology has improved over the past 2 years for the 360's and parts then have become inexpensive for Microsoft.

And right now with 65nm coming out they will be losing some money since it is newer. Halo 3 is making up for all of the losses up to now which a profit can hopefully made soon.

The Halo 3 edition is with out a doubt making money due to it's price since it's $50 less then the Elite. It's an obnoxious rip off but with the Halo hype what kind of kid wouldn't want it with the "fancy" Halo designs on it.

As for the billions spent in the RROD repairs, I'm guessing thats just a way to compensate people to not abandon the system. But it's Microsoft thats barely a scratch...

Are you asking about the SDF-1 and Megaroad profiles on the Macross Mecha Manual website or the SDF-1 Macross and Megaroad profiles on the UN Spacy Quartermaster's Tactical Database website?

From the way you've worded your post, I'm guessing you're asking about briscojr84's website. Since the Macross Mecha Manual is a sister-website of his own, briscojr84 has decided not to feature any vehicle profile on his own UNSQMTDB website if that vehicle has been featured on the Macross Mecha Manual. He does not wish to duplicate efforts. This is why the SDF-1 and Megaroad ships all appear offline on his website.

    Ah...

My bad I'm assuming the site you posted in the other thread was your site.

Nice database by the way. ^_^

  3. #*(&&^#*$*( Microsoft!!

Ok, finally got around to opening the free limited edition Halo 3 my brother gave me (he got in on that best buy deal for a free 360 and halo 3), and both these discs are scratched to he!!

checked the net, of course, it's common. Was at GS yesterday and they were told by MS, we know the discs are falling out and getting scratched, sell them anyway and tell your customers to contact us for replacement.

    what a load of BS!!!!

At least replacements are free other than having to mail your discs in

    sheesh.

    another bad move Microsoft!

Dude it was free man, I wouldn't complain if the disc was broken in half...

  4. I'm still going to hold off for a month or two. Or three. I want to make sure any bugs are out on 65nm chips. And I don't want fugly olive green. Waiting for white ones.

I may very well have a 360 for sale in the upcoming months. Doubt I'll be able to swap by the time Mass Effect is out.

I don't see the reason for switching over besides HDMI, I mean come on if your system works then it works. No reason to switch over for something new because of the hype or anything.

  5. How would I check the drive on the Halo edition? The Halo edition is noiser than my 08/15/07 Premium, but much quieter than the original 02/06/06 version.

I am tempted to just swap 360s with my son so I can have the quieter drive.

    Waah...?

I'd just keep the Halo edition for looks, but the "Halo 3" signs on it are keeping me away from it. None the less it does look tight. B))

  6. Hey guys, I need some help trying to integrate my computer into my home entertainment center. Here's my deal, I bought an HP Mediacenter computer (M7760N) and I currently have it hooked up in my office... not really serving my media needs. I'm moving into a new place with a lay out more conducive to including the computer and I'm really liking the idea of playing some video games on the 46". I think what I need to do is buy a new video card (the one I have sucks anyway) that has two HD video outs. I'm not a super avid gamer... I only buy about one game a year, so I'm looking for something only in the $100-$200 range. I saw Azrael a page or so back recommended the following Video card to someone: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814130084, would that same video card solve my problem?

I'm not sure if the Mediacenter your talking about uses PCI Express, check on that to be sure your not wasting money on something you cant even use.

If your looking to just play those regular everyday games like Half-Life 2, or your everyday MMO it should be more then good enough.

  7. Wait-- "With FFIV getting the full voice treatment, we can only assume the upcoming remakes of FFV and FFVI will follow"

When were FF5 and 6 announced? I passed on the GBA versions of most, though did get 6 advance. Ah well, full 3D is well worth the purchase again.

Thats what I'm guessing, and then FFVII will receive the treatment. If it does go this way it'd be oblivious now.

  8. Should have got Halo 3...

And I hope for your sake it's a new system, not a used one.

I already had Legendary on preorder so its kinda pointless since I was offered the regular version of the game.

As for the system it's one of the newer premiums before they added in HDMI. He'll replace it if anything goes wrong with it. ;)

How'd you pull off a deal like that? Did you introduce the clerk to your friend Smith & Wesson while you were negotiating this transaction?

I actually was searching up craiglist in hopes of finding someone to do a reasonable trade with me, and what ya know I found someone.

But I'm guessing the guy was desperate he wanted to mod the system and I'm guessing he didn't want to shell out money for the Wii and just get rid of the 360 considering that he never used Live on his system.

My only worry is the go around that Halo 3 has been red ringing people's systems.

  9. Hey guys, so some of the LED bulbs on the front of my PC case have died, others are starting to wink out. Would it be just a simple matter of cutting off the old bulbs and then soldering on replacement ones? Thanks in advance! Here's what it used to look like:

Check for any wire disconnections in the case, it happens to me a few times since the cables act lose.

If not, then I guess you could replace the leds, double check though.

  10. There is no debate on this issue, as Macross II has no:

    -Protoculture

    -Supervision Army

    -Stellar Republic

No mention anywhere, no forshadowing, and most importantly, no real connection with any standing Macros canon. At which point we're left playing the "who's supposition is wilder" game. And considering nothing in standing Macross canon shows any inclination towards the Protoculture having a monarchistic society, nor is there anything showing the SA having a monarchistic society, that would leaev the Marduk, a race with their own name, religion, & society, to be a seperate race unto themselves. And since we know they "did" defeat the Zentradi using their own culture, and enslaved them in the attempt, the less wild supposition would be that they too were a somewhat earth-like culture that came across the Zentradi.

I'm confused on what to say here, Macross II didn't have to mention Protoculture, and you know in DYRL terms that protoculture was "love" or something like that so it was morally implications. And really the whole macross series never had a strong mentioning of the two at, excluding Macross 7 and anything else.

Theres more to it, clues are there to help us out. We never got straight answers now, why are you applying that we never got any evidence either...
