Did you get charged PayPal conversion fees? Lol, I don't know wtf is up but I wish HLJ went back to their old merchant account. Never had so many problems with them before.

Thanks man! I followed all your instructions from before and been using a no fee MC for a while now. Today, it went back to charging me the PayPal conversion again with no change in my part. I called them and got a bunch of blah blah blah about a known bug and tried their suggestion of deactivating any existing payment agreement and resetting but it still didn't work. I tried all those methods you've mentioned and in the second case, no coversion rate was not shown, only yen but I still got the damn PayPal charge.

There seems to be an issue with PayPal right now. I called and they claim there is a bug in the system. I've been unable to make a purchase from HLJ without getting charged PayPal's conversion rate. Anyone else notice this?

Yep, that's why NY is my goto spot for these things. It makes it a no-brainer when their shipped price is about the same or lower than everyone else's non-shipped price. I rarely ever bother with combining orders and like not bothering with a limited private warehouse when I know I already got a lower price no matter how much you could possibly save with combining at the other shops. The best thing is, if you really wanted to, you can combine orders to potentially save even more.

Tell me about it! I just might have to splurge on these though because M&M set is a grail I've been wanting since I was a kid and somehow the pair have continued to elude me until this year. No...NY's conversion is much worse than Paypal or any credit card fees. Just do the math...

PO cancelled! Actually it was! But seriously, I don't care that the insignia is a few degrees off. Do people have screenshots posted right next to the toy and have fits over any detail that doesn't match perfectly? If it was something that made the toy look like crap, I can understand but it looks fine...probably better the way it is.

A couple big reasons why old toys lasted longer is: #1: It was still early on relatively in the profit is #1 toy industry and resources were more plentiful. #2: The designs were much simpler...it's easy to make a block that just bends in a couple places with a big solid screw hinge durable. The "toys" we are buying these days are way more detailed and complicated than anything we ever got before. The fact that they can even be produced and sold as consumer products is already pretty impressive. Could they be even better? Sure!, always! All I know is I buy tons of Macross and most the time, they are just repaints of the same VF-1 or whatever but every one I get gives me much more satisfaction than just about any other toy. That's all that matters to me. Am I getting what I want and am I enjoying it? If not, then I'll do something else.

And done! Ordered at NY with shipping for less than most places without shipping and now waiting to see them announce the Premium Version and how the KO's turns out before I decide how many more of what I'm buying.

You know how other companies deal with what Arcadia considers waste in order to be more efficient? Pack it up, sell it and just expect customers to deal with it.

I think he was referring to HLJ. Although there is a chance of something going wrong, I had some Macross items in storage at AE for over a year and when I finally shipped them, they showed up minty, no issues. That was just one experience though. I don't buy from them very often.

Haha, yeah! She's actually the one that convinced me to get back into collecting since she knew it makes me happy. I freaked out a bit but just dropped her off to get a massage. Love that woman!

My wife actually ordered it for me from her account because she was helping me on preorder night. I wasn't able to get one but she did. Unfortunately, she hasn't been checking her email . I noticed it was about to come out and forgot I never got one, didn't think much of it but asked her to see if she got any notices. Mailbox full of notices including early release and cancellation for failure to pay. I'll get one but yeah, it's going to cost more than NY. Edit: yeah, HLJ and most other places don't request payment until it's in stock.

I don't remember but usually when you request any kind of order (product or shipping), they expect payment within a reasonable amount of time. edit: I just checked one of my shipping payment requests and there was no time limit mentioned. It's possible they don't care since you already paid for the item and they just won't ship until you pay.

NP. AE and NY are the main two that get Bandai exclusive items and those are always pay up front at both places. NY has pay later when in stock for everything else.

Shipping is usually a bit more but nothing significant. The main catch with AE is everything is pay up front. Except shipping. Again, you decide and pay shipping when you want.

Their PW is one of the best because there is essentially no limit on how long they store things for you. All your purchases are in your account until you decide which ones to ship.
