  1. Working on the pose of the second dioramas Valk... this ones the Renegades CAG and is caught mid swing moments before punting a mobility scooter out of the way... I'm going to have to get creative in how I brace this one from the inside and down through the leg into the display base in order to hold it in this pose.
  2. The worst I've seen were 3 ASLAVs that got hit in the middle of the night while parked up in East Timor, by an Aussie Engineer Regt team whos logo is a dogs paw. They were found in the morning with a ton of red paw prints all over them like a dog had walked up one end, over the tank, down the other side and off over the next one and then the last one. Turrets, Sights... everything in their path got hit with the paw print.
  3. Having to alter the layout. Getting the second valk to kneel convincingly in the aim is proving virtually impossible. The mechanics of it just dont work with a short upper leg, long lower leg and intakes that foul the folded wings. Besides that the hand wont reach the ground in its current attempt to kneel to I cant get it to cover a dog or anything else. It also clutters up the scene and is too much. New plan is to have a few stories playing out in the windows of the building instead... this should be fun! As for the Sqn CAGs Valk... thanks to the wifes left field idea I'm doing another street scene... little old lady in a mobility scooter crossing the street... and the Valk caught mid swing about to kick her into touch "DOWN TOWN" Messed with the pose and hands and it actually looks really convincing and dynamic!
  4. You can do that easy enough yourself with some small gears, a 360deg servo or a sail winch servo and an adruino controller.
  5. will that thing hold a Valk horizontally?
  6. I get crap from the boys for having the prettiest gear in the sandbox, everyone else just blasts their kit with krylon and any branches and palm fronts on hand. Its gotten me into some fun places though, doing door art on armoured vehicles, gear and even some Sea King choppers. We carry stencils for our units bomb teams and when we pull up behind another unit, even other countries, we race out and tag their gear! Its the silent war civvies dont know about and must confuse the crap out of scale model makers when the see bumpers full of different logos!
  7. Progress on the Street fight scene before I got called into work today! Next task is to tear up the discarded Super Pack and the light housing that sits up on the shoulder infront of where the booster would sit as though hit with a Zentraedi Beam weapon. Already lopped off a hunk of the head mounted laser. Then I need to build up some damaged internals on the broken parts and fit up the "sparking and shorting out effect" LED unit. The missile has been launched from one of the tubes on one of the forearm pods, just because who the hell is in battle with full ammo, as we say, if in doubt, empty the mag! So in response top stepping out into the street and having the Booster shoot off this guy or girl let rip with a snap shot missile before bailing into cover. Next up would be some damage and beam scoring to the building and some LED units to show some room lighting in the windows... some off, some on, some flickering and damaged. On the roof will be the Tui Billboard with either the slogan "Another quiet day in Paradise.... yeah right" or "Another quiet night on the town... yeah right". It will have LED spot lighting for night times. The hardest part has been finding HO/OO/1:72 scale figures of civilians running in panic as I want people streaming out of the building between the Valks legs. The second valk will be across the street in the aim, kneeling, unsupported (army speak) with one hand sheilding a dog and in order to get the kneeling pose (the legs just wont bend to the point of the knee resting on the ground) I'll have a car or van or similar crushed under its knee as a resting point. And before you all notice, the rifle is just resting in the hand until I've finished painting everything, then it will all be fitting properly with the finger inside the trigger guard.

  9. Working on the first VFs pose for the Cityfight diorama scene This guy will be hugging an Apartment block wall for cover while under fire Across the street will be another VF taking a knee (proving hard to model that pose!) and using its off hand to provide cover to either some civis or maybe even a dog. There will be people running from the buildings, the buildings will have damage on the side facing the direction of incoming fire with some flickering light effects in some windows. Sitting hastily dumped out in the open street will one of the wall huggers Super packs. it will be damaged and feature an embedded LED running a random flicker and flash routine to simulate sparking internal wiring. This will be on a Billboard above the Apartment block... Its a Kiwi joke...
  10. 4 on the go at the moment. The F/A-18 version of the VF-1D on the Carrier deck, the VF-19 Raven on the Carrier deck, the VF-11C on the Carrier Deck and the VF-1 Spec Forces Quad Beam Super on the Launch Arm! Roll on Xmas break!!
  11. Amazon, pretty much everything I've bought was through Amazon. Good prices and stupidly quick freight even when I pick the slowest method!, still only 5 days to NZ http://www.amazon.com/Macross-VF-1J-Strike-Valkyrie-SVF-41/dp/B0018RU5G8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1450908807&sr=8-1&keywords=VF-1+black+aces 40 kits on offer at the moment.
  12. This mornings haul that turned up on the Couriers to work... NICE!!
  13. SWBF? If so you'll be loving the Jakku Ground war! There is SOOOOOO much going on in the skies above that fight! Graphics are 10/10
  14. Thats come up good for a quick job! Just because I'm an idiot and like loading on the work, I had an idea after seeing one of the boys from the unit dual wielding airsoft carbines during the Xmas function shootout at the local Ex Mental Institute Paintball place, Asylum. He was with his back to a wall on a corridor corner, both rifles held upright pointing up at the ceiling grinning like an idiot while the OP force team were hammering rounds down the hallway... Reminded me of the scene from the old activision game Heavy Gear... link below, go to 0.41 to see the moment. I'm working on a dual wielding Fighter mode VF-1 and had the idiotic idea of building a scene with a Battroid version of my Dual wielding VF hugging a street corner wall of a building thats getting shot up. The building will have beam cannon damage and feature flickering room lighting a partially collapsed wall facing. I may include a discarded ruined Super pack in the street likes its been dumped in a hurry by the VF, with exposed wiring and internals and maybe if I can do it, a lighting effect to look like an internal fire or sparking. Xmas project... Link for a diorama building lighting project. Liking the lens angle on the LEDs they use! http://www.instructables.com/id/Creative-diorama-lighting-with-the-Arduino-and-TLC/
  15. Can anyone advise on the Purpose or Role of the Strike Pack Beam Cannons? Anti Fighter, Anti Capital Ship? Guessing reaction Missles are for Capital ships, Micro missiles in the Super Packs are for Fighter screens?
  16. Try Induction charging for a battery setup. You'll never need to swap out a battery then. The model just has to be placed on an induction charger to recharge the cells.
  17. They arent in the files. As a soldier and a Contractor I'm used to the variants on standard weapons. Carbine versions of the main assault rifles for Armoured crew and Transport Drivers, PDWs for Pilots and aircrew etc. Figured and twin cannon Valk would look reasonably SAS/Spec Forces. Just trying to sketch up an ammo bin/clip for the side of the Carbine as the shortened barrel would mean the ammo would be external now. The carbines could ride in the stowed position on the OUTSIDE cutouts of the arms, so side by side in Fighter mode, as those cutouts are already molded into the arms. In the meantime todays project was working on finishing up the wiring on the two Strike cannon packs and working out how the wiring will all join up in the airframe body AND to the socket for the Launch Arm to plug into. I DID come across a reference to the Quad Beam Cannon Strike pack in the VF manual
  18. Building the Beam Cannons on a Strike pack last night, fitting up an LED into the targetter above the barrels and thought... why doesnt the VF-1 have twin cannons on both sides? Now it does! As well as 6 Reaction Warheads. You can never have too much overwhelming firepower.
  19. Carrier Catapult hook?
  20. The joys of kids... damned Elmo and Minions everywhere!
  21. Carrier Deck time... So... these are the resin lenses for the Neopixels in the deck. This is the daisy chain underneath... Next up is the JBD... Down position And raised... And from underneath... Ramp Micro servo Servo controller, translates my on/off inputs into ramp raising with the ability to set the start and end movement ranges and the speed of movement (the most important part to have it SLOWLY raise up realistically). Linkage - Ramp down Linkage - Ramp up The Heart and soul of the project, the Adafruit Trinket board The whole Prototyping board aka THE MESS WITH A VAGUE PURPOSE Lights on...
