  1. Good to know, thanks for all the feedback. I was hoping for some miracle. I guess its a cleaner version of 5min 2-part epoxy.
  2. At first I thought this was going to be some miracle glue to repair our broken toys... Then after some testing was done, it seems not to hold up well in shear... However I've found another link that is more model specific and it seems like there are some good alternate uses... At least it seems like cleaner less messy and easier alternative to 5min epoxy or JBWeld. The resin casting properties seem neat and maybe able to cast or create an entire small replacement piece for broken toys and I love it as an alternative to PE crazy glue. Might try to go out to find it somewhere.
  3. You've got that right brother!!!
  4. LOVE IT!!! Thanks!!! ... so funny. (can't believe there's no Rogue One Steelbooks in Toronto already - what's up with that, there are still Steelbook TFA lying around, was there something special about the Rogue One Bluray release? - argh)
  5. Beautiful customs!!! Congrats. Truely unique, you just need a little light panel lining on those puppies to bring out the details to match all your amazing paint work.

Great! Cause I love orange and I'm a sucker for the radome/awacs. I certainly hope you're right.

    Bandai DX VF-31

Well I stayed away from this one... giving you guys mine (aren't I generous :P) I hope mine went to a very deserving soul on these boards here. All I want is the orange one left, not a huge fan of all these colours. Hopefully by then, a lot of this hoopla would wear off. Just remember this when Chuck's VF-31E comes up for pre order OK?
  9. The only problem with the scanning is that you can't print white (the thorn in my side for years!). You'd think after all these years they'd come up with a replacement or advancement to the Alps printer that is no longer in production eh?
  10. Yeah, I should. I originally thought it was just a straight up out of the box build - because I like the painting/weathering bit the best, I thought I could race to that part of the build, but the more I got into it, the more detail presented itself and I just couldn't leave it alone. One of the best kits I've ever had the pleasure to lay my hands on. I should have done it with the Tamiya paint jar as you said, but I rushed it because I might be starting work up again. Here's a shot I did but I didn't include it because the lighting didn't turn out but it does show scale with a penny.
  11. Yes, I was super careful after reading about it in these forums, and I could see the spot that lifted on the gold before I even peeled it back. It must be something in the curing or storing of the toy afterwards and its definitely not user error. MJ, I find that one can usually tell with metallics (especially with cars because the flakes are so big) - maybe I'm just too anal (I've been told that before :P) I just can't imagine buying gold and copper just to fix a tiny spot though - argh, its not like I ever use those colours in my modeling.
  12. Woohoo!!! Finally finished, "... She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts ...I've made a lot of special modifications myself" Cut in/recess cockpit exterior greebles Greenstrawberry Photo-etched kits (overall + exhaust grills) Custom lighting kit from Tirydium Models Shapeways 308Bits Cabin cone and Turret well set Dremel in blast marks and scratches Added cabling/hoses to the landing gear struts Other than that, its pretty much straight out of the box - amazing job Bandai! What fun to paint!!! Thank God for magnifying glass, my eyes need a bit to recover now I wished I had a Macro for my DSLR.
  13. Yeah, I wish my spot was on the white as that is much easier, my one tiny spot was on the coppery gold which would be a really hard match especially trying to get the metallic flecks orientated in the right direction as the original paintwork. Mine was also in the Private Warehouse, I wonder if it has anything to do with being stored/transported in heat, my guess is that the heat would cause the film to bond with the printing.
  14. Well I'd love to see the quality of the KO result. It's not a bad thing necessarily. Lepin and LeLe did the same with Lego KO and its the only way I could afford the UCS Millennium Falcon that was going for $8K on the scalper market - in fact the KO quality is quite good. If Lego ever releases that set again, I would still buy the original at MSRP, just not the scalper prices, so Lego doesn't lose out, just the hoarders.
  15. After playing/transforming it for about 2hrs; the metallic coppery/gold paint apps and tampo are just amazing! gerwalk lock keeps snapping loose super-tight tolerances at the upper thigh going into behind the intakes (worried about rubbing and damaging red paint) very finicky, not that poseable considering the amount of articulation, once locked together is ok, but cool almost too many points of articulation where you just have to align everything just right (should have some detents) nose cone made up of too many panels, too gappy, and its what I see first (unless its in Battroid mode) very cool and different looking Gerwalk mode (wasn't even one of my favourite modes) ... on to Battroid...
  16. Hey anyone with a link to the Transformation Manual in PDF? Bandai often puts them up on their site but can't seem to find one for this.
  17. Woohoo!!! Finally received my copy of the SV-262. Even though I peeled the plastic protection off really slowly and carefully, it took a tiny bit of that coppery gold colour with it (its going to be a hard match) - at least the big insignia is intact. Initial impressions out of the box is that its light a bit gappy - will try transformation to see if I can tighten it up a bit, but there seems to be a few loose panels around (ie, head "ears"). Amazingly complex paint/tampo print throughout - Arcadia has absolutely no excuse for its naked expensive toys! With shipping and brokerage, it came out to $350cdn - starting to really climb to the top end of my limit (Arcadia is no longer within my price range). Definitely did not have the solid feel of the VF-31. Beautiful colour scheme though. Thank goodness for Jenius' transformation guide, I would never attempt it without you - thanks again!
  18. ...I've made a lot of special modifications myself... Woohoo!!! I finally managed to get the two halves together. Spent a lot of time routing the various wires and fibre optics around to they do get caught in the big attachment pegs and then covered a tin foil dome on the inside of the saucer to keep the light reflecting around and minimize light leaks out (even though I did spray the interior black). Amazing set of PE parts - these landing gear baffles are a must even at this scale! I tried to drill some holes to allow some light to spill out of the landing gear wells to dimly light the gears from all the bounce form the tin foil dome. Just gotta add some of the landing gear hoses still... It's too bad that the photo doesn't show off all the little lights and controls through the gun port walls because the rear tunnel is so bright. You can hardly see all the work I did into that cockpit now I embedded a magnet to to activate a "reed" switch inside to turn on the red landing markers and ramp entry light when I put in the open landing ramp, when I take it out and replace it with the closed ramp, the red marker lights and entry ramp light goes out. That extra curved door at the end of the entrance tunnel really adds to it! Gotta work on that radar dish and a last pass at the weathering with some scraps and I can almost call it done! Not sure if I'll ever need to do my 1/72 Fine Molds kit...
  19. Wow! How did I miss those?! Thanks, I just ordered them from NY (like their shipping, often goes through without the expensive customs & duties which my SV-262 is sitting in right now). Just curious, when did they go up for pre-order?
  20. When do those drones come up for pre-order?
  21. Back from March Break and a little more progress on my Millennium Falcon build Love those PE grills for the engines (although having done them, I recommend not sandwiching the lower ring as it brings them too thick and high, its nice to have the grills sink in a bit, but they are too delicate for me to take apart now after they are done) ... now the fun part!!! The weathering first pass... Love the molded details, this puts the Fine Molds 1/72 to shame. I've gotta next figure out how to cram all the electronics/lighting into the body, light seal it before I close it up. Oh, BTW - yes the decals suck!!! I was seduced by laziness and the fact that the decals fit so perfectly to the panels, but they really don't conform to all the raised details even when I used a ton of Mr. Softer and Mr. Setter and MicroSOL (and I think I'm pretty good with decals too). It was awful and a pain. But the worst part is that once they are on, I realize the dark grey is all wrong, too green and the red is too bright, but rust at all. I spent a lot of time doing a wash over them to darken them and take them down a few notched to better match with the reference, but I wished I had painted them instead of using the decals.
  22. Woohoo!!! Got payment from HLJ, now I can ship it with my SV-252.
  23. Haven't heard a peep from HLJ, was hoping to bundle it with the SV-252 for shipping. Amazon is saying that its out already? I hope HLJ changes its status soon.
  24. Wow, bigger difference than I thought it would show up as - that's fantastic. Did you take apart the toy to get at the metal gears in its entirety or did you just paint them in place?
  25. Beautiful flawless finish!!! Looks great, I didn't know China had the Eurofighter? What kit is that BTW? I love all the rivet details especially at 1/72 scale!
