1. ...Because nobody else has said it...

WELCOME.

(Please don't be like Brofessor... what-ever-the-F that mutant is.)

Seto, already said, Gundum is to Japan, like Barbie (maybe, Mickey Mouse, is a better example) is to the US. Anything else is generally a miracle in terms of merchandizing. What exactly is your interest in anime merchandizing? Is this a numbers thing or a Stock Market interest?

2. ... The one BELOW the caption you posted (You are awesome, simply by captioning that imagine of #2, For the Record) :D Its the SIDE view of the expansion, explaining the arms, how they rotate.

"Arms rotate, legs swing down." 😅

🤭Let me be specific: I'm talking about the side view (below #2). From Left to Right, it would be the second notation (but the first one under the side profile) I'm gonna guess its NOT landing gear but something dealing with the Transformation pivot point?

Can’t find any landing gear illustrations either, but we can assume it has them since it’s supposed to be primarily an atmospheric VF, as opposed to the VF-2SS that is mainly a space fighter.

Stabilizers do swivel away hidden into the shins.

Lets make some assumptions, based on what we do know about the VF-1 (in regards to its landing gear in the leg nacelles), as well as the VF-2SS (which does have line art including landing gear)

1) the Gears on its mains probably deploy the same way (and direction) as the VF-1

2) Look closely in the picture provided (TU for that). There is a panel line directly underside of the cockpit. Its directly underside and long enough to suggest much. I would suspect that is the hatch for the nose gear.

Also what does the Kanji say on the notice that is placed on the first underside notation (from Left to Right)?

I don't necessarily expect to see traces of vf-1 (or vf-4) in the vf-2. In the same way that the f-14 doesn't resemble an f-15 or f-16.

But vf-1a, vf-1d, vf-1j, vf-s are all clearly minor variations on the main vf-1 design. Same similarity can be seen in vf-11, vf-17, vf-25, and vf-31 variants. And others as well. Variants being barely more than a head change in most cases.

Then you look at vf-2j and vf-2s and they are about as different as an f-14 is to an f-15. How can they really both be called vf-2? I always wondered why it wasn't vf-2 and vf-3 or something. It's bothered me ever since I first saw the show lol.

Maybe the LACK of development falls in line with the perceived Malas or Blah that was apparent (especially in the manner the UN Spacy conducts their first engagements with the Marduk). The commander in charge of that battle looked... for a better word, Bored. To me, now that i think about things, that seems so unlikely but back in 1992-3, when I first watched MII:LA, that's how I viewed the politics of the story. If the UN Spacy has been either destroying or outright subverting random Zentradi forces with ease, the urge to be on the cutting edge, probably dulled (if there wasn't any profit in it, at that point).

What was the story about this kit? It wasn't made by an authorized vendor, was it? (the lack of details underside bothered me, in those pics)

I always thought it was strange that the 2J and 2S/2SS were essentially entirely different fighters.

There is no details on linage of the 2J and 2S series (outside of line art from the two games that exist in the LA timeline, to my knowledge) so, unlike after series (I'm looking at frontier mainly with the YF-24 -> VF-25 but the VF-0 -> VF-1 applies as well), its really in the realm of fandom (especially, when the production of LA did nothing to follow through) of which came first: The Chicken or the Egg... when you look at the line art for the VF-2JA, just how much of the VF-1's DNA do we see? I ask that because we see nothing of the VF-4 in any of the LA Mechanicals...

Very impressive comment and much detailed than then official specification. Look forward to seeing your prefect work

I could take your comment several ways... but I'll be the adult here and just let it pass (because explaining my comment to you will take time and effort, that I am unwilling to spend!)

Ok, because the urge is Overwhelming... My point was that, by using my personal experiences in military aviation, as well as my love of all things Macross, I had hoped to improve someone else's efforts (Not belittle them, as your scathing retort was).

But thanks for expressing your opinion on a public forum! I will accept your apology in PM form...

8. nice work...

Now to nitpick.

The first thing i see that might be/should be wrong is the size and placement of the Jet Intake warning. Unless it would be common for that inlet cover to be at a higher angle when on the ground, the markings should extend along the outside of the inlet covers in some manner along each edge, merging at the front of the plate (see PIC #2's angle).

The second thing is that there should be No Step markings on the UNDERSIDE of the wings as well (because the JA's wings are hydraulically hinged to flex in both directions when in Gerwalk mode)

Third? No 03 high on the tail (because when you are an AD working in Power Plants WC in a futuristic Fighter Squadron and Maintenance Control sends you out to do a 30-day inspection on those Inlet Covers, MC would have told you Modex # 03, so you're looking at the highest point on each aircraft, to make sure you are working on the CORRECT fighter)

were there any pics of either fighter, on the ground and idle, in Macross II: LA?

9. I know this might be a troublesome question (especially when you view it from how in Real Life, certain countries are acting against each other) but...

Have the creators of Macross, in it's various forms (TV shows, OVAs and Movies, Books both fandom and Cannon) ever noted a list of what countries compromised the UN and Anti-UN forces?

I'm not sure I understand this. We complained for decades about how difficult it was to get anything Macross outside of Japan. And now that it's opening up and we'll have legal options, you're still going to pirate it? That's kinda a stick in the eye to Big West who is trying to make this available to us.

The Word you are looking for is...

INTEGRITY.

Some of us hold the suits of Teh Mouse in High Contempt and not without cause.

But Pirating at this point, if you already watch HALO and anything Star Wars, is a mute action at best.

11. IDK who this dude is (Not a fan of DIS) but I guess I should not be surprised they hired him, because of his disability (and Star Trek's long history of mostly doing the right thing).

The question on my lips remains this: DID HE Walk past St Christopher, manning the gates, or did he strut (finally relishing the beating his disease)?

Condolences to the NOK

That title is admittedly kind of confusing, but what I generally mean is has anyone documented the evolution of the official Macross timeline? So for instance, take Macross II. When it was released, the "official timeline" had it placed 80 years after DYRL. Then a few years later, it was established that Macross II was set in an alternate universe, and that was the case for a few decades. Now, it's back in the official timeline (I think; most of my knowledge of the Macross timeline comes from the late 90s through mid-2000s and is based on the research of Egan Loo of Macross Compendium). I'm far less interested in what the last iteration of the timeline says about Macross II, and more interested in how its place in the chronology has shifted. Hence, a good Macross II historian (IMO) would be sure to say it started as A, then became B, and is now C, or something like that.

This is a pretty broad question, so maybe I can narrow down the ask with a few specific questions:

1) When did they come up with the decision that DYRL was an in-universe, movie re-telling of SDFM? Was it when the movie was released or was that decided years afterward?

2) Were games like Macross 2036, Macross Eternal Love Song, or Digital Mission VF-X ever considered part of the official canon? I vaguely recall an old Animerica issue from 1998 or so that made it seem like PC-Engine CD games were...

Thanks.

*cracks knuckles*

I am gonna propose Two (2) thoughts on this, one from a SI Point of View (someone living in the Macross universe) and from a Otaku POV.

• The SI POV: The TV shows are the universe. The video games are Video games depicting events that occur OFF Camera from the TV Shows (They happened. The amaze ball over the top visuals are dramatic artistic license). The Movies are ALL BIOPICs of events that happened in the TV show universe, On & Off Camera (They happened. Maybe not exactly as depicted in the TV shows; example: Kakazaki and Fokker die but differently in DYRL, MF's Sniper boi dies in TV but does not in his biopic [maybe the actor hired to play Michael Blanc protested to someone and they changed MF:TM-SnT's script], etc.).
• The Otaku POV: Macross, like other media IP (Star Trek, Star Wars, MSG, Battletech/Mechwarrior, Transformers, ULTRAMAN... Gojira) that has its existing baggage of history, will be argued to death long after humanity has faded from the stage.

I am a proponent of the idea that everything besides TV exists to enhance and improve our individual mind's eye (aka Head cannon!!) of our various beloved IP. In the case of video games and OVA & Movies from the Macross universe, i think TPTB already established president: DYRL is already viewed as a BIO Pic of the events from the TV series, in the macross universe. Same circumstance with the video games (dramatic depictions of actual events IU, presented in the form of a game). As to Macross II: LA's place in all this? I site RL experience: The movie, Starship Troopers, was made by Paul Verhoenen. EVERY OTHER movie, in the so-called Heinlein universe, is NOT made by Mr. Verhoeven. Who is say that someone, in the Macross universe, purchased the rights to make M:LA (and the two video games that march in the M:LA side universe) as a sequel to DYRL (for the RL honest reason of simply making a Yen on the coat tails of DYRL?). It's already established as having had happened (Macross Zero the movie, seen being filmed in Macross Frontier's TV run)...

Thoughts?

Dude's already not acting like a stupid villain, assuming that Ahsoka is coming his way and asking for anything and everything about her.

He's studying up on his enemy and getting a plan in place.

It's most telling when it is explained to Thrawn who was Ahsoka's master was: He stopped right when the name, Anakin Skywalker, is mentioned. Clear as a bell, he placed Ahsoka as class-1 MUST DIE BY NUCLEAR FIRE and Pins/Needles/Glass on the floor (and ceiling) in his mind. How much did Thrawn know about Ahsoka in Rebels?

14. I would like to see something like that is occurring now between Ukraine and the Neo-Soviets: Civil War between systems, systems near the edges of human-occupied space (far enough away that NUNS back on Terra has a very hard time dealing with the problem themselves). Throw in some Zentradi fleet action that stumbles across the melee but make the story reflect some of the 'distasteful' politics that have reared in Frontier and Delta's storylines...

My stepson, my youngest, is autistic (which by itself is a long topic by itself) but he isn't the only one, obviously in this world. Another individual is, or was (apparently), Lucas the Cool Guy. Now in the decade or more of Youtube's existence and expansion, there has been folks who come, go and in some cases, we wish they would LEAVE. The reasons why exceed the number of fingers & toes we normally have (save those Cameron inbreed Pirates on the Fan Fiction page) but my wife told me that Lucas The Cool Guy, has been removed from YT and other social media sites? This has more than a little distressed my kid, mostly because explaining Why, to anyone on the Spectrum isn't easy-peasy.

Does anyone know why LtCG has either chosen to be removed/forced to be remove? PM me if the answer is wholly only apropos for privacy?

I apologize for an otherwise unnecessary question but apparently, nobody has every posted a Square Pants subject on Off Topic before... and yes, PM please if you know the answer? I'm honestly curious myself...

16. 2202... visually was awesome. But you need to look at Cosmo DNA's reviews about specific episodes before you understand what's going on with Galatis Empire (and it was a concept that i didn't see at first viewing, which IS the fault of the production team behind 2202). I agreed with Dynaman and Mechanianc's assessments when it first came out but after reading some episode reviews, i changed my grade for the series to a C+. It could have been better (much better) but it's not super bad. The issue is editing and pacing, especially in the ship porn at 17 and after...

17. Someone on BT's forums said the same announcement but he added a very snide way to say it

So I told him, No we did NOT want it Cancel Cultured. We wanted something other than what we got.

Then i send him a relatively civil PM (only told him to STFU about Cancel Culture, my Gen status and opinion on CC) then reported the post, with clear meaning that i wanted to tell that a-hole to go..... mate with a moose.

So here's my question. Is hearing about the end of the series (and showing some degree of happiness/relief) the same thing as the term 'Cancel Culture'?

Or am i being a very cranky Gonad?

18. I tried to watch this. I was fine with the intro of Beverly: Gunsmoke... and I absolutely loved the Picard-Romulan chick interaction (out of context) but once they got on Titan, I rage quit. The Captain was NOT on the bridge of HIS SHIP during departure from Star Base 1? Sending 7 of 9 to see Picard and Riker at the 'quarter deck' I could understand, from a personal perspective of Shaw not wanting to deal with the two immediately but not being involved in basic seamanship operations as important as departure? Complete and utter retardation, on the part of the WRITERS.

Shaw being a complete a-hole during the meet & greet dinner... could have been done much better. Maybe he has good reason to dislike (if not loath Picard because Shaw still holds Picard responsible for Shaw's losses at Wolf 357) but he could have been less... abrasive because Picard could easily make Shaw's command brief just by making a few calls.

Speaking of calls... Why did Shaw NOT immediately contact Star Fleet Command and ask why Picard and Riker were onboard?

utter shite writing on the part of production. I wanted to give this a chance but having watched enough of a sample size, to verify my opinions of others scathing reviews, I was my hands of the whole thing. Seriously, Marine Crayon Eating Quality stupidity is how I describe PICy...
