other than the music (which was great) and the VF-2SS (a close second behind VF-25 for me) i really liked Lord Feff's red battroid. That suit looked seriously evil ! Wish MII caught on, just so some company would produce the VF-2ss and the Marduk mecha!

Dun worry abt Luka, I would bet that he will survive all engagements until 2/3 of the way through the series whereupon he will have a Gundam 00 style Lock-on dramatic death (probably moreso than Kakikazi, given anime these days) That aside, I think he's the spotter of the team?

On the orchestral/instrumental music. They basically spliced the "desperate last stand" music in DE (which came up in the UN Spacy HQ abt the last lines being breached and needing to down the shields) into the scenes of the Vf-171s being picked apart in the broadcast edition. I think the concern was that having "don't be late" playing while the good guys were getting blown up was not appropriate (to new macross fans i guess). Pity, i particularly liked the orchestral tunes being timed in DE to the scenes of the Vajra breaking through the last line of defence (I think it was Vermillion squadron or smthinig). Conveyed a more epic feeling than the music used in the Broadcast edition for that scene.

Decided not to just sit on my bum and ask for stuff - and tried to do some subbing. I dunno jap but I used the DE edition fansubs and tried creating a .srt (subtitle file) with slight tweaks for Broadcast episode 1 (which I have converted to H264 Avi). Phew...its hard work and I only got to the 5 min mark. If anybody wants this to continue, or just for kicks, PM me. I have new respect for the subbers out there, its backbreaking work, timing the subs, and I'm not even doing any translating! I'm just gonna wait for this to be done professionally instead of my DIY effort..

Luca seems to be making some sort of negative remark to Alto-hime at that scene (there was a short cut scene of a oni/japanese demon I seem to recall) Now I can only hope episode 2 is given a whole lot more loving attn by our fellow anime friends...Code Gaeass....*ptui* <I am a macross snob > Cheers!

Totally agree GITS(SAC) should be on the list. Tech crimes are increasing and will exponentially as technology evolves. As to cyborgs, its the logical endpoint of the prosthetics industry. Put this together with the ability to digitize consciousness (and therefore an impetus to create physical shells for AI or Digitized consciousness), I think its only a matter of time, perhaps as close as in 50 years. All this bears in mind the graph of exponentially advancing technology. Internet is here to stay and I am thinking it will evolve into a form perhaps unbelievable to people of our generation. As an aside: WWIII might be unthinkable, but wasn't WWII as well (and it took place less than a generation after WWI as well which was then touted to be the last world war - if memory serves)? Heck, who knows the next world war might be started online...

Not sure whether the concept of big green giants will translate across in the big screen. The non-macross fan would find Zentraedi laughable. And if there are no Zentraedi, why would UN Spacy bother to make valkyries transform into robots... all in all, I think it would be quite hard to pull off Macross in a live-action movie. The suspension of disbelief bar is too high. Now, if they did a 25 part series, with some history behind the Zentraedi slowly unfolding every episode, and the need for valkyries to transform into big robots (hand to hand combat) I think that could work. Otherwise it could end up like that Gundam live action movie (G-Savior) - more of a fanboy movie, which wld mean no sequels. Just my 2 cts

Not sure where I read this but there have been US studies showing that the average security chap looking at 9 different monitors kind of just dazes out after 30min (or some other rather short time) - as in he's just incapable of paying attention anymore even if he's awake...probably something to do with your brain having to monitor 9 different spaces.. Probably quite fatal in an MS esp if you aint a newtype!

He annoys me to no end... well perhaps for a 2 min cameo featuring him being firebombed by alien music bugs and tumbling out of control into the galactic core - hopefully on fire and with his vocal cords permanently severed. I can see it now: Basara - "Listen to my song! " Alien music bug - *emits strange alien music with cunning English lyrics which actually make some sense* sigh...probably too much to hope for... I vote for Hikaru and Misa's children!
