  1. I'm still waiting for the people on TFW to post a rapidshare or something of the ep bc/ we cannot torrent download at school and wathcing it on Youtube just sucks...

Honestly, I hope someone either improves the quality of what they've been releasing as torrents or someone else starts posting higher quality ones b/c I'm not impressed with what's been released so far. To be honest, I think the Youtube versions looked better/more synced up than the other ones.

  2. I just noticed something odd about the pictures. It's been too long for me to remember, but was Rei a lefty??? I ask b/c his target device is on the left chest piece while Stick's is on the Right side. Also, in some of the shots, Rei is holding the gun in his right hand while other times, it's in his left. The same goes for his ride armor. Sometimes the gun is on the left side and other times it's on the right. I'm still up in the air over which one of these two guys I want, Stick or Rei b/c I'd rather spend the $60 (for the other one) on the new TF stuff coming out in June.

  3. I liked it too, it was really clever. :)

I didn't like how the episode started out with all the over the top clumsiness by Bulkhead. As it went on though, it was something of a character growth episode for him, and done well. We've got a new dinobot origin, and holy cow, it's actually good! Probably even better/plausible than the G1 origin too. And is this an ongoing coherent storyline interconnecting the episodes I see? Megatron and the good doctor, I'm enjoying the interplay and manipulation. The way the episode ended had some real depth too and promises of good things to come. :)

I'm pretty surprised to see Swoop. I saw no mention of him or his toy anywhere before this episode.

I keep seeing Black Arachnia in the opening credits, and given Prowl's personality so far, I have a strong feeling we're going to see a SilverBolt-ish storyline develop eventually between the two. Not that that's a bad thing. :D

As to your spoiler comment, I've known about that character for a while now. TFW2005 had some images of his robot mode too (which is very skinny if I recall correctly). I really like how the show is going for the G1 appeal...meaning the transformers don't look like toys, they look like cool robots. If you watch Bumblebee's Transformation, you'll see lots of anime magic, just like the good old days before the computer generated trilogy that made the bots look like clunky toys.

  4. LEGO has the Speed Racer live action movie license. They didn't do a bad job, as the cars are recognizeable. I wonder why they didn't use more smooth slopes for the front of the Mach 5? Sadly, I don't think they built in any of the car's special features, either. Great thing about LEGO; easy to mod. I'll be adding a few of these to my collection when they hit shelves.

Wow, those are pretty poor quality productions from LEGO. Too bad b/c LEGO things are cool. :D

  5. HA! Click on previous twice and it'll take you to a Lego Legioss and Tread combo where the link-up is perfect! :D

    These are all pretty nice.

Some of these were in another thread. That guy has lots of cool stuff. I REALLY want to know how to make the Alpha/Beta Combo b/c it's just freakin cool and so tiny too!!!

  6. Well, I put in a shipping request at HLJ the other day when I saw they'd been discontinued, and now they're prepping to ship both of my Vic Vipers.

They're still listed as discontinued

Actually, that's not really odd. If the item is discontinued, it could take them a few days to get all the orders shipped out. It just means that they won't get more. HLJ from my experiences generally gets enough of the item to fill current orders (on pre-order stuff at least). I've seen this same "problem" occur with several limited edition items and I always got my pre-ordered ones.

  7. First thing I checked after my Aoshima fiasco. CM's has grey plastic molded hands, my guess they are not rubbery just solid plastic.

Other things all three versions have tempo (what ever they are called) decals, what you see in the pictures are not applied stickers. I'm sure they will come with sticker sheets, but none of the box contents other than the toys were on display.

Landing gear is all metal and keeps the Legioss off the ground with plenty of space between the chest and surface.

The Tread landing gear / link up to the Legioss is also made of metal.

Best thing about this set is that it is in fact a toy! Other wise it wouldn't be getting sold at ToysRus, the Aoshima Legioss were only sold in Hobby shops and not in ToysRus in Japan. It's not a Toynami MPC collectors piece, which after the fact is now stated to be for the collector market and not a toy. Yeah the cost is a bit high but CM's is not Bandai or Takara. If you love Mospeada I suggest you support the only legs it has, if not it's just going to die and go away. I'm not getting all three but I for sure will get the green set.

Do toys at TRU in Japan normally cost $250+??? I still think these are just way too expensive for the size and flaws.

  8. To be honest, I kinda think the CM's ones look cheap. The plastic just doesn't look like good quality plastic. It has the same appearance that my cheap KO toys have. For the price they are asking for these toys, they should be very high quality plastic, so can anyone confirm that these things are high quality??? I know someone had said something about the booth workers showing off the figures and moving them around, did they appear to have loose joints? The only real selling point for these that I can see (since they are smaller and more expensive and in my opinion less detailed) is that they are sturdy and are able to be "played with".

Edit: With all the possible variations they can do with the Ride Armors (like the green one in that photo), these things should really be about $30. I just think they would sell way more at that price tag and then they could milk different paint schemes and "fodder" colors.

  9. Gah, I hate it when this happens. I want to buy the DVDs because I want to support what is unquestionably one of the best shows of 2007...and yet I do not want to support a sub-par sub translation. If I stick with my fansubs and don't buy the DVDs, the suits will undoubtedly blame the excellent show for the poor sales and it's one more loss for the anime industry which seems to be suffering poor performance across the board.

No strong feelings about the dub, though. It really takes an excellent dub job to make me even care, otherwise I just stick with the subs.

Just do what I do...watch the fansubs and buy tons of swag. Swag funds the anime too.

  10. Yeah because then it seems like any damage has no real effect on the show. It is like how comics kill people only to know they will come back eventually. I think that key will play into something bigger later or just lose its power hopefully. I remember seeing the preview for the show a while back isn't Suri supposed to get some kind of transforming armor or whatever?

I actually have that video on my hard drive and it's like a transforming 3-wheeler. I honestly think the key will end up being called "Vector Sigma's" key or something related to the old story arc as another homage. All in all, I can totally see people calling this the rebirth of G1 after all is said and done.

  11. Also agree. A Leader Starscream is probably the only movie toy they could make in the next six months that they could actually get me to buy. While it's definitely true that the movie toys have sold like hotcakes, without a movie, DVD, and a holiday to move them, I really don't get why Hasbro thinks they're better off stocking the shelves with movie repaints instead of Animated toys.

EDIT: The fact that this conversation has segued into discussion of toys and the movie reinforces my earlier notion that this thread should be merged with the other.

In response to your edit: Only because someone decided to start posting in the wrong thread.

Animated looks pretty decent. It's only the first three episodes and they did a rush job on the story. Now that the groundwork is layed, we can get a decent plot going. The toys look like they will be awesome. I honestly love how many homages I saw in the first three episodes. Everything from Spike and Daniel in the background to Prime being grey when he's dead. The "Key" is a very pathetic plot element though...

  12. Cool. Thanks for the additional info. and background, jenius.

I know that Toynami's pretty unreliable when it comes to projecting release dates (or keeping the fans "in the know"). So, none of this speculation or info. comes as a surprise to me.

As for CM's I really am hoping they're taking our criticisms to heart. Either keep the price down or rework the sculpts to give us something WORTHY of that asking price.

Honestly, no toy is worth $300 in my opinion. I know you get two figures, but that's still paying $150 for an Alpha and $150 for a Beta. Even if Toynami released theirs for $150, thats $150 + $60 for a set of Alpha/Beta and there is no shipping cost. $150 is still ridiculous. $100 is pushing it. Oh well, I'll just continue to hope for some KO makers or some smaller scale more affordable ones.

  13. I just finished watching FMP! & FMP?Fumoffu with the Mrs. and she loves it. Now i need to find a place that has Second Raid for a good price, any suggestions? Does anyone know if Second Raid is going to come out as a domestically released box set anytime soon? Also, are there any Arbalest figures? I know there's a revoltech ARX-8 Laevatein in the works, but what about the ARX-7 Arbalest? Any help is appreciated. :)

Not sure about any ARX-7 figures other than the little collection figures (which are okay), but the TSR is great! I watched it subbed as it got released and I was just as addicted to it as the first one. Good luck finding it cheap somewhere.

  14. Honestly, I've waited since I was a kid for a Beta Fighter toy, but I can't spend that much money on toy. For goodness sake, that same money could buy 4 Xbox 360 games and a controller (or my books for next semester). I'm hoping one of those KO makers in Asia gets hold of these to make cheaper KO versions b/c $250 is nuts. There are just too many FLAWS to warrant that kind of price (really low connection, missile pod sits funny in fighter mode, arms of legioss sit together, fairly small scale). Sorry CM, but another pricetag FTL!!!

  15. Well here is the info that I have...

34 episodes were aired in Japan in 1997 on TV Toyko. I’ve read that 37 episodes were made of the planned 52 episodes. 12 episodes were dubbed by DiC Entertainment and aired on Nickelodeon in 2002 as “Speed Racer X”. There is also one episode in English on this:

    http://www.amazon.com/Speed-Racer-Ultimate...n/dp/B000G1GGH4

Where it is called “Speed Racer Y2K”. You may also want to check out my 2 YouTube videos.

    http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=wwwmwww

Neither the original 1997 Mach GoGoGo series nor any of the Speed Racer versions made from it have been released on DVD. However I was able to get the US-televised episodes of the 2002 series on 3 dvds from this site:

    http://www.warlockvideos.com/

They aren't listed on the site but email them and I think they should be able to help you. I've also had a few contacts that taped a few episodes directly off TV Toyko so I think I have 4 episodes as they were originally aired in Japanese. I'd LOVE to get all 34 (or 37) but that's all I've been able to find at the moment.

There is some more info on the series here.

    Carl

Thanks for the info. It sucks that the show didn't get finished.

Anyone else catch the STARZ anime documentary on last night? It was pretty decent and they acually showed the Mach V from the movie along with the cast towards the end of the program. It was also cool how they went back and showed how the various modern movies took things directly from Animes, like the Matrix's famous lobby scene being a rip off of Ghost in the Shell (I had forgotten about that scene in GitS until STARZ showed it again in that documentary).

  16. I agree... too many of the curves have really been flattened out. My favorite rendition of the Mach 5 in 3D is the Club-M model.

    sil_01.jpg

Then again I'm also a fan of the 1997 remake of Speed Racer so I would have been happy to see this one used as the movie car too...

I still can't find that 1997 show for purchase or download anywhere. I loved that rendition of the Mach V, I thought it honestly looked like the perfect update b/c it kept the sleek look and added a new-age tech flare to it.

  17. zToynami has the best in rider mode i think, but MH in Armour mode, which is how Id display it anyway.

Honestly, I'm not buying them to display them in bike mode either, so MH is the winner in my opinion. Also, the only part of MH that drags the ground in bike mode is the hip guard/plate. I don't really think it looks all that bad, no worse than CM's gigantic head/helmet.

  18. Trying to catch up on this. Out of the upcoming ones, the CMS one is the smallest scale then? A smaller scale version is a selling point for me.

I'd imagine smaller scale is appealing to quite a few people. The problem is the smaller scale but higher price tag than MH. I love tiny figures, but they usually have small price tags. If only CM would market it at half that price, I'm sure they'd sell a lot more b/c the price just isn't justified by scale or competitive pricing.

  19. What did aoshima expect would happen? The toynami legioss was such a mess to begin with, did they really expect they would get a high quality product out of it just because toynami slapped the aoshima name on the box?

QFT. A few extras thrown in the box with their name stamped on it doesn't fix a broken design...

  20. What I'd love to see are some Orbital Frames from Zone Of The Enders in the Revoltech line.

YES!!! We NEED Zone of the Enders frames b/c the only ones out there are very expensive resin kits. It'd probably be really cheap to acquire the license now too since the games are pretty old.

Edit: Just went back and looked. Kaiyodo is the company that made the fully poseable one way back when ZOE 2 came out so they should already have easy access to the drawings and even a schematic on how to make the figure, they would just need to scale it down and fit it with Revoltech joints.

  21. I have all of CMS's patlabor figures and they are very solid toys. There were some very minore paintflaws on the diecast of one of my ingrams, but nothing worth crying bloody murder over.

I don't know much about megahouse. I do think some people complained about the quality of their L-gaim figures though.

I know the Orguss figures by MegaHouse are supposed to be very nice.
