  1. Has there ever been anything done on Einhander? I'd like that as well...

That was such an awesome game and fighter jet.

By the way, if anyone ordered a box, I'd buy the extras off you if I can't get a box myself (or at least a complete set off ebay). What sucks is that there are only 8 per box, so no box will have two complete sets.

On a side note, anyone know where to get the toys in the picture below? They don't look like candy machine toys but have a similar appearance to something that cheap.

  2. This might be the advertisement you are thinking of.

    lansay_tread_ad.jpg

But this is NOT to scale with the 1/35 Alpha. This is the same Lansey thread you see in the auction.

    Carl

I love that picture and the upside down left arm.

I'm still trying to get my paper beta fighter to work (I'm making one in autocad but it's a beast of a job b/c of the size and semi-complex shapes combined with a transformation design that racked my brain to figure out (while making it still look okay and be show accurate to an extent)).

  3. Yeah, but I doubt I can get my 5 bucks back from BestBuy (they'd probably ask for the pre-order bonus back!)

Oh, I guess I read your post wrong. I thought that you had a pre-order at Gamestop and decided to buy it from Best Buy instead.

There are gonna be way to many good games this holiday season for Xbox 360 and Wii. But that's a good thing.

  4. Agreed... I too would very much like the parts list and instructions for those mini valks and Monster... damn impressive.

If I could figure out how to contact the make, I'd send him an e-mail or even leave a comment, but I don't see any features that let a person do that. I can figure out the majority of the parts they used, but I don't see them in the colors needed in the Lego Store, so I'm thinking he must have purchased a very specific kit that has all the parts needed inside of it. I almost doubt that some of the parts are Lego parts and not third party look-alike parts.

  5. Gamestop doesn't have the MassEffect pre-order bonus yet, and there's no mention of it with the Limited Edition version of the game. (Which is not available in stores period according to the website)

However, BestBuy has it sitting right there in the games section. Just pick it up and take it to the register. I don't plan to make good on my pre-order and will just eat the 5 bucks and order the Limited Edition version from Gamestop.com (They are guaranteeing DELIVERY on the release date for MassEffect if you pre-order and use overnight shipping) Well, at least for the regular edition. I expect it'll happen with the LE as well, even if the site doesn't mention it yet.

The pre-order bonus is worth 5 bucks to me, so I don't mind, especially getting it a MONTH earlier than from Gamestop. Gamer pics, themes, etc on the disc.

I was told by a Gamestop employee that you can get a refund on any pre-order you have. They are also supposed to be able to swap pre-orders to other games instead.

  6. Slightly OT but I had to share this while waiting for the Mospeada Ride Armors to come out.

Very cool. Did you notice the mini alpha, beta, and VF-1's the guy made???

I think this is supposed to be a monster Vb-6

    Bike Cyclone

    http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=2374007

I may have to use the lego builder to make the alpha and beta and maybe order the parts.

By the way, if anyone does manage to build it, can you share the exacts or the lego builder save file?

  7. Just saw the new 3 piece Gaiking collection that CM is putting out so you can make Gaiking the Great (finally), but I don't think I'm gonna get it b/c the texture of the robots looks horrible. They did the same crap that the other company did with the Inbit from Robotech/Mospeada. Anyone have this and can confirm that it isn't smooth? Raiking and Bulking arent' out yet, but they will be by December.

Gaiking the Great (I'm guessing you combine all three to get this figure and it's not some separate product the company is making)

I've wanted a Gaiking the Great for awhile now and they finally release one but it looks like the texture got messed up...which sucks.

  8. Edit: Whoops, misread your post.

But yeah, that's a cheap way to keep your gamertag "alive" if you don't plan on playing too much.

Or you can grab an Xbox1 Live 1-year prepaid card and use that instead. Most places are clearing them out because they think they're worthless, lol. My store was one of those places so I picked up a 1 year subscription for $20 plus my employee discount.

You wouldn't happen to have any more of those year subscriptions for $20???

  9. Cheating was never that bad on Halo 2, the few common exploits like the modem-standby glitch were solved pretty quickly with updates.

Wow, you got really lucky then. I was part of one of the best Big Team clans around. We weren't bad with 4-man stuff either. We ran in to cheaters ALL the time. Like 1 in every 3 matches b/c cheaters got to the top quick. Oh, and modem standy wasn't fixed with the updates when I had stopped playing (a year ago in august I think). Bungie released an update that was supposed to fix a bunch of stuff, but cheaters had it broken within a few days. It got bad enough that one of my clan mates found a program that would allow us to boot players who weren't using normal copies of the game. Thank god that program never got passed around b/c people would have abused the crap out of it. Maybe Bungie fixed things again after I left and their fixes worked, but there was rampant cheating when I was around (I think the worst case of cheating was the autokill enemy seeking bullets that were one shot one kill no matter where you were on the map).

One of my friends just said that Toys R Us is supposed to have a buy one get one free sell on all their video games, so does anyone know if this thread has a list of games that are good? I'd really like to go ahead and pick up a few titles even though I won't get a console until after the free games get packaged with them.

  10. Just try out Halo 3 online, there is already a update so no doubt maps are going to be added frequently in the future.

I'm sure they will, but it honestly shocked me that they didn't start out with more maps than that or at least give players maps from Halo 2 with better graphics. And I'm pretty sure people will have to pay for them if they want the new maps when they come out (just like they did with Halo 2 maps). I wonder how bad cheating is on Halo 3 b/c that's one of the reasons I stopped playing Halo 2 was that the cheating got so bad it wasn't fun anymore.

  11. Wow, toy prices are getting out of control. As cool as it is, I hope they sell ZERO units of this b/c anyone that pays that much for one figure has way too much money and that company has needed a reality check for quite awhile (their prices keep climbing). I honestly don't see how that toy warrants the price when some of their other ones have impressed me more and were less than half the price.

  12. Multiplayer.

I played the single player Halo 1 and 2 storylines just for the story. The combat wasn't really good. But the online multiplayer for Halo 2 was good enough to keep me interested and playing actively for over a year. The multiplayer is what it's all about. Personally, I was really shocked to hear that there were only 11 maps for Halo 3 (I think it was 11). Seriously, they should have focused all their attention on the multiplayer and made the single player story an afterthought after they finished with multiplayer. I'll get a 360 around Christmas so I get the two games free, but even when I do I'll only play story mode a few times (once by myself and again with some of my friends so they know what happens and can get a feel for the controls before heading online). I can't really say for Halo 3, but Halo 2 had a decent balance in combat for the most part if you were in a decent clan.

  13. Well....he's fighting for love. One cannot argue that destroying a whole Anti-spiral planet in the name of love as evil. The theme of the 2nd half of the show after all was for Simon to save Nia (his own selfish goal) and to have the motivation to push him fwd more into his goal. He had his doubts when the anti-spiral mind-f*cked him and revealed that his actions will destroy planets and even galaxies for the petty fleeting feeling of "Love". But does that stop him? No. Kick reason to the curb. Destroy a few galaxies and planets to save his loved one. Can you still call him evil? To the innocent bystanders.... yes. To the viewers, definately no. If you're one of those unfortunate planets being flung around by giant mecha as projectiles, would you appreciate Simon's power of love or would you just think he's an evil guy with selfish goals?

We'll never know that. For all you know, he might just be defending against jealous spiral beings who want his power. Maybe someone kidnapped Darry and he's all out to save her, even if it means waging war with the whole universe. As i said, the show's theme shows that nothing is absolutely evil. Everyone's just doing what he thinks is right.

That may be true, but don't forget that the whole last fight occurs in a dimension/space where the Anti-Spirals conrol everything, so I doubt that the galaxies in that fight have living things on them. The way the Anti-Spiral talked, it was like he "made" the space they fought in, and I doubt he'd have made something with Spiral beings existing and the only Anti-spirals shown were on his planet, which was in the enemy robot. All I was really saying is that Simon conquering the universe to expand human kind is kinda evil. Doing so to save someone isn't that evil. One way is for personal gain and the other is helping someone in need of help. I know there aren't absolutes, but the show is all about interpretation, so I'm cool with anyone's theories, so long as the theory makes at least a little sense. I'm not saying people can't question them, but I can usually see where they are coming from...

  14. What is evil? In gurren lagann there's no "EVIL". Everyone is fighting for their own justification of what's right. Simon will still be hot blooded in the alternate ending just that he's TOO hot blooded and probably has kicked reason to the curb.

"WHAT? They wanna attack us? Who the hell they think we are? Madness? This....is.....Gurren DAAAAAAAAAAANNNNN!!!" (fires elsheim cannon destroying a few enemy galaxies)

Considering the fact that we now know that other Spiral beings existed that weren't evil, Simon attacking them and more than likely destroying their worlds would definitely be evil to me. If we never found out that the other worlds were open to peace talks and stuff and were lead to believe they were evil, it'd be a different story. But as it stands, Simon attacking worlds that we know might be good is evil. Also, going out of control to the point where you destroy the universe for your own selfish goals, The Spiral Nemisis effect, is pretty evil too...

  15. I think that Gainax could get away with remaking the whole series if they went down the opposite path of Simon's power corrupting him and leading up to the finish we saw at the start of episode 1.

Kinda like an RPG with two endings, people like those, right?

I honestly think that would make a crappy series. Now that we've seen the good Simon, it's just not gonna go over well to make him into a bad Simon. Kinda like how the main character of Nadesico was pretty evil in the movie and was more or less a craphead. It just doesn't bode well.

The hot bloodedness of the series comes partly from fighting for Justice, but fighting for evil just wouldn't have the same hot blooded feeling, which is pretty much what Gurren Lagann is all about.

  16. I read an interesting theory in another forum.

The events in episode 1 may be an alternate ending if Simon chose to continue the fight and become the Spiral Nemesis. Boota looks at the explosions in the distance and say "All these stars are our enemies....." which Simon later says he'll crush them with space time himself.

Fast forward to episode 27, old hobo Simon looks up into the sky with the kid and says "All these stars are our friends....".

    Interesting.

The alternate timeline theory makes an incredible amount of sense. Thinking about it, the last two episodes were all about proving that humans wouldn't make the same mistakes as the past spiral beings. Thus, the episode could be the breaking of the predicted timeline (Simon doing the whole Spiral Nemisis thing) and showing that his future and the future of the current Spiral beings isn't set in stone. Although, it's possible that the scene from episode 1 was from a previous set of Spiral beings (who's to say that history doesn't repeat itself to some extent since all the Lagann were exactly the same in the graveyard).

As for the "Special Announcement", I'm really hoping that it's some kind of sequel series or a stand alone movie that takes place in it's own timeline.

  17. Wow. The head sits really low now. It was higher in the previous pics which means they probably eliminated the long neck, which ends up making the shoulders/chest sit way too high. I liked it better before the change.

  18. Quick updates from Yaco: Megahouse Mospeada preorders started in Hobby Net in Japan.

Hobby Net has same prototype pics we've already seen, no packaging photo.

Price is 6,090 Yen and release date is pushed to late January...

Bit high price, but quality should be good as they dropped PVC recently.

Damn, that's expensive for such a small figure. I don't care if they put a lot into engineering it. There is no way they put more effort into that than the company that did HTS Optimus Prime and that thing has some serious engineering (and cost about $10 less). I will ONLY be getting one of these, which is too bad b/c I really would like to get them all (or at least one of each bike type). I may get two if they release the Shadow Chronicles version with the big cannon b/c that rocked!

I wonder which store/seller will be offering these the cheapest???

  19. Crap! I thought this anime wouldn't do the stereotypical kill everyone in the end thing...but it's really looking that way right now and that sucks. But then again, that scene from the first episode, you can here Yoko's voice and see Simon and the mystery guy, so maybe it won't end like that after all??? I can't really identify the other voices.

  20. I haven't seen any prices. I can say that the Toynami Beta price was always more of an excuse not to make the product rather than an actual price that they determined. I have no doubt that that toy will cost no where near that amount.

Those are the old pics, we know that CMs is currently re-working the toy so there's a chance this looks nothing like the final product. Patience, it's too soon to say whether or not the final product will please or disappoint.

The only reason I posted that old picture was to show the little cyclones in the corner of it. I really figured people would know it wasn't the new design we were told about (the re-tooled design).

  21. I'll be pretty surprised if CMs makes a January release. Originally Toynami said the Cyclones would hit this fall.... I don't see that happening either. The only thing that seems likely is the December MegaHouse release.

Okay. I'm guessing nobody has announced exact prices for their toys either (especially the Megahouse cyclones)? I know Toynami said the Beta would probably cost about $200, but I'm hoping they halve that cost when/if it ever gets released. The Megahouse ones are my favorites at the moment, so I'm hoping they'll put a $20-$30 price tag on them since they are so small.

  22. Honestly, the chances of this being a film that will please fans is almost zero. I don't think any of the major producers in Hollywood care about source material, they just care about their "vision" of things. And if that means making the mechs/suits of armor look nothing like their namesakes, then that's what's happening. We already saw it with Transformers and from the Voltron script, so why this would be any different is beyond me??? I kinda think that they'll use those newer mospeada designs we saw a month or so ago (the ones that could be the designs for a new mospeada re-imagined show or follow-up in Japan).
