  1. A well written post 1/1 LowViz Lurker, exactly how I feel about Crapnami, along with their F***ING BS QC issues on ALL of their products. You may only "hate the sin not the sinner", but I can't quite forgive them.

Then again, I am a sucker for punishment, because I really want their Beta - knowing full well that it'll likely be a POS toy.

    :(

Correction as of today...the Beta will be an overpriced POS toy.

    j/k

Anyway, I feel your pain with hating Toynami. Everything they put out has silly QC issues that could have easily been fixed but weren't.

  2. Yep, cancelled mine too. Toynami can say whatever they want, but that toy shouldn't be more than $100 at the most. It lacks elements to justify a higher cost (complexity, guaranteed QC issues, etc).

Maybe they really will see how many people cancel their pre-orders and decide to make it reasonably priced.

  3. I'm curious to see just how many people out there will stick to their preorders after this. From this thread it seemed to me that most people were jumping at preorders only because of the 80 price tag (I did).

I won't get one for that much. And even if Toynami is saying that it's going to be $150, we may end up seeing $80 b/c the guy said that Toynami doesn't know the price and told businesses in a printed document that it would be $80, now a word of mouth person from Toynami says that's wrong. In reality, even Toynami doesn't know how much it's gonna cost, so until the official price hike, I'll keep my pre-order (and complain to BBTS after that for listing it this early and then hiking the price that much to see what they'll do about it since their policy is "keep the pre-order price" for most items b/c maybe they'll sell them almost at cost to pre-order customers). I will not pay $150 for something I know will have problems right out of the box.

  4. Beagle prototype looks okay. The top half is nice, but the legs are too dang skinny. They'd be good legs for Hoquet, but not for the guys. They need to beef them up before release (and it's not like beefing up the legs would cause problems with transformation).

  5. Well, thank God Toynami has never mislead anyone. Why do you think it's NOT an $80 toy. It stands about as tall as an MPC VF-1 and doesn't have a light up visor. The transformation is pretty straight forward and the only reason I could think of it NOT being an $80 toy is because Toynami keeps complaining about how it'd HAVE to cost a ton without ever giving a convincing reason why.

I agree. Thinking about it, the toy likely has very few "complex" parts. The transformation scheme isn't that complex. The toy is most likely going to be hollow for the most part with few diecast parts, which it doesn't need b/c it'll have a hard enough time with weight stressed joints as is. The only reason the Alpha was expensive was because it was complex and full of diecast. If they did that with the Beta, it wouldn't be able to hold a pose with those tiny joints.

I also think BBTS is still a bunch of ***** for not honoring their mistake if it comes down to it. Any clue about what Twin Moons Anime's policy is on that kind of thing??? And if BBTS does post a pre-order early without any VALID pricing info simply b/c they want people to jump on their pre-order band wagon, then they should eat the cost for any difference b/c they lied to their customers.

  6. seems twin moon anime site has the betas and other figures up for the same price, but has free shipping =] wondering if i should change my preorder from bbt to twanime... do they have a easy cancellation policy at twanime?

btw, how much is usually shipping on robotech.com? im interested in getting a alpha there for backup if they dont re-release any.

I want to know this too (the Twin Moons Anime part)!

  7. Hell just froze over.

I thought I would never pay full retail for a Toynami product, so I hope BBTS did make a mistake and will honor the price. Just did a pre-order as well.

Been a long time since I pre-ordered from them. I forget, do they always honor pre-order prices or can they change them now?

Also, I think the Beta looks GREAT, and for $80, I don't care if it has some QC issues, it's a dream come true at a fairly cheap price. Also, the Toynami Ride Armor looks pretty cool too, it's just a matter of how much of a perfect transformation it is and how many QC issues/annoying things are wrong with it. If not much is wrong with it, it'll probably be bought by me at least. I want those fast packs dang-it, but I only want Max's, so I guess I'll have to ebay it or find someone who's selling them separate.

  8. I have to say that I got my MH Stick and Ley yesterday, 2 sets, and they are pretty damn cool. the only problem I found was on one of the Stick figures, the guard rail piece (the part with the black and white stripes had one missing the joint piece to connect it to the leg in armor mode. Needless to say, I am kinda pissed at it, but nevertheless, for it's size, it's a freaking awesome toy. HLJ didn't even tell me they had shipped them until like 3 days ago, and bam, there they were at my doorstep. I'm glad I got these over the CM versions. They do the Mospeada line a bit of justice.

You may want to contact HLJ customer service, they may be able to help you contact the company about the missing piece.

  9. I have to wonder if these are the same fastpack display pieces they used back when they were first introducing the 1/100's. I hope the final versions of the Max and Milia fastpacks have colored leg armor.

I don't remember them being boxed. I also don't remember ever seeing the Toynami version of the GBP armor before these photos.

  10. Is it just me or do the arms seem to seperate from the shoulders after attaching them to the legs correctly?

Mine does that too. They cut the slots for the arm-leg connectors too far back, so the arms are basically pulled out of the joint.

  11. I'll just throw in my opinion since I got one today (the wave 2 Max). BROKEN shoulder out of the box. VERY STIFF, to the point that I swear I'm gonna break the head/neck trying to move it. Missiles glued funky (the little 3-missile sets).

It's a cool toy, but unless you can get one for under $20, then skip it for now. I do think for the money, it's decent, but not great. Now I have to complain to Toynami and see if they'll send me a new shoulder connector. I may have to try to scratch build some armor though if Toynami waits much longer (wouldn't mind just making some kick-ass armor for it anyway...)

  12. Okay, since we all agree on the ZOE toys, is there any way of transmitting Kaiyodo our requests for figures?

Not sure really. But I do know it's not beyond the realm of possibility considering Kaiyodo has already made a ZOE model kit (at least one), so they already have the sculpt in about the right size for these figures too.

  13. I'll agree that the figure and bike for CM's look slightly better, but the combined mode for the Megahouse one just puts them miles apart. MH just looks so much more dynamic that CM's can't even come close IMO. Plus, the size and paint on the MH one make it the winner in my book. I might buy a CM one if I could find one for $30, but not anything higher than that (so if anyone wants to sell me theirs for that price, just PM me).

  14. Nope they dont work that way. if there was a 14days claim, i would've received my item since i email them almost immediately within 2-3days or even just after 1 day. and nope, i didn't get my preorder and it went out of stock immediately :)

example: say i pre-ordered 2 items in one order, and one of them arrived. if you ordered that newly-arrived item at this time and there's not enough stock for both of us, the item will be mailed to u bypassing my pre-order, so that hlj can get their $$ first. They don't care if i pre-ordered 10months ago, they only want to get their $$ asap. My pre-orders have been screwed for more than once, and i learnt it the hard way - preorders at HLJ don't guarantee u anything at all.

i think the best way is to preorder 1 item at a time (i.e. make sure u have separate order numbers) AND chose 'ship immediately'. of course, u might end up having to pay more shipping for your separate packages. but still take note that their idea of a 'pre-order' is no guarantee for u to get your item, no matter how early u pre-ordered. The ordering system at hlj is "confusing" to quote directly from the hlj staff themselves.

u can try that for chance, or preorder from other stores that treats preorders and queue numbers like how we normally perceive them to be. :)

Okay. Didn't really know that b/c I've never had problems with them and I've seen them put Order Stops on some items that they are worried about filling pre-orders for.

  15. that's not true. I've ever pre-ordered something and ended up not getting it. the trick is NOT to have any other items on order or it will screw up your pre-order.

As for stock status becoming backordered or out of stock, it always happen when the item just arrived - perhaps they have too many people ordering and they have to temporarily stop the orders from coming in? However, this is really bad because we won't know for sure if they do have enough stock for us.

good luck. (luckily i dont get mospeada from them :p)

My understanding of the HLJ system is that you have 14 days to claim that pre-order once the product arrives before they sell it to someone else. I might be wrong on that though.

  16. Ray was showing as low stock at HLJ so I requested shipment, fingers crossed.

HLJ is usually really good about making sure that they have enough for people who pre-ordered. They usually have some for people who pre-ordered even when the item already says backordered or out of stock.

  17. Well, I'll definitely be getting Stick, Yellow, and Hoquet. I think CM's still looks cheap, costs too much, and has just as many "issues" as the MegaHouse one. The only difference is that I personally prefer the look fo the MegaHouse one. I even think I may make some weapons for it after I get it (like the cannon thing from bike in the Shadow Chronicles). I just think the MH ones looks so much more dynamic than the CM ones. Beagle "could" blow both companies out of the water, but we'll just have to wait and see if they deliver a product that has top quality and looks nice too.

I had an idea, would it be possible to pop off the rubber tire and put some lube on the inside part of it so that the rubber rotates freely around the other part?
