  1. You have over 4000 posts, you aren't "average" either. Not trying to flame you, but I'm just making a point. I think the average person's tastes are something very few people in the world could guess. I'd wager that some average people will like it and some won't. That's just how the world works.
  2. Okay. Thanks. I don't know where I saw that message about Toynami enforcing the $150 price tag then.
  3. Does anyone have a link to prove that Toynami was forcing companies to sell the Beta for around $150? I remember reading something like that and I'm looking for the source of the memory.
  4. They might have been planning on it, then Toynami and them had a fight and ended that. But Aoshima was just making copies of Toynami's stuff (more or less) anyway. So your only two choices are really Toynami's or CM's combo. Both are overpriced.
  5. From what I gather, it's really about style. If you like one's style over the other, then that's the one to get. Toynami's Alpha has QC issues out the butt, while the Beta's initial reviews say it's pretty sturdy. CM's is supposedly a nice pair, but their are a few issues like the connection and lack of detail. However, I have seen a few people say that the Toynami Beta is better...
  6. Oh, and Spike's gonna use a water pistol b/c showing a gun in NY might start a gang war by accident. Ein will be a cat and Ed will be a 30 year old man.....j/k Neo is a joke in any movie he's in. He would ruin this part and doesn't fit the "look" of Spike. I think Anime should stay Anime, never progressing to the big screen b/c I haven't seen one movie that I thought was a good Anime --> Live Action Bigscreen transition.
  7. But it was an error from a TOYNAMI advertisement! TOYNAMI is artificially inflating the price of the toy (we know that b/c someone's already gotten one for $110, so it's AT LEAST a $40 mark-up with no justification). TOYNAMI should have done SOMETHING other than say whoops, our bad guys, all your stores are wrong b/c of our mistake, too bad and sucks for you stores. Seriously, they should have negotiated some price for people that had pre-ordered (like selling them for $110 since that's obviously still above the cost of production). TOYNAMI is shitty company that appears to have finally put out a decent product, too bad they WAY overpriced it. Clearance sales here I come! And Roger, the majority of your comments are very trollish. You "challenge" for the sake of challenging, not because you have any grounds to stand on.
  8. If I ever buy one, I'm sure as heck going to either make a custom cockpit/hideaway mechanism or just a piece to cover their shitty one. But the price is just so high and I feel like it'll drop soon. If I could get it for $100, I'd buy it and make a custom little part (maybe even send the custom part to someone who could cast more). But as it stands, $150 plus shipping simply b/c Toynami wants the price to be kept artificially high (which should be made illegal considering the US is a capitalist style economy and that is no different than a cartel keeping prices artificially high in my opinion).
  9. Agreed. Waited this long to make a decision on buying an overpriced brick, I can wait a little longer. I forgot, how many of these are being produced? Was it 15,000?
  10. Looks like a fun action movie, just NOT a Dragonball movie. I think the horrible old Dragonball movie did a better job than this one at capturing the Dragonball feel. When are movie makers going to learn that when you take on a movie about a massive existing franchise, you need to stick to the story as it was written. No major rewrites or character changes.
  11. I'd wager that it was a bidding war thing. People get crazy when they compete with somebody else for something and often pay way more than it's worth.
  12. Thanks! I'm actually gonna get my old IMAI kit out and finish painting it. Then I'll consider buying a Beta. What's the cheapest place or person I can find selling one? I live in GA by the way.
  13. And people thought I was crazy when I bought one for $60 shipped a few years back... Any clue if it can hook up to the Super Poseable Alpha from Toynami? I have the transformable one, but I'd rather not have to transform it to pose for robot mode pics. The Super Poseable Alpha was about the same size if I remember correctly?
  14. What might that be? I see the machine gun part from the leg being held in it's hand, but without some form of translation I don't know why. If it's just a loose fit part, then a tad bit of glue will hold it in place. I don't think that part would be crucial to any transformation aspects.
  15. That's just it though. The Beta wasn't intended to be super complex. It was a booster unit that was an afterthought in the overall show that got incorporated. The toy looks very close to the show, minus the screwed up cockpit. Toynami failed on the cockpit even if QC is perfect. But hopefully a little custom work will make for an easily attached piece to hide it in battroid mode.
  16. I must be in the minority that thinks Toynami valks LOOK good. The QC is crap, but I think they look very good and fairly sleek. The old Imai kit has a special place in my heart b/c it was one of the first I ever painted, but the wings on it are way too small and the canopy is too big, though those faults give it a SD/chibi like charm.
  17. Actually, the legioss looks great from Toynami, it's all the QC issues that keep me from transforming it a second time for fear it will disintegrate in my hands...they're known to do that you know...j/k...not really... I want Toynami's Beta, but now that we know they are way overpriced (Toynami forcing stores to have a certain price on their items), I'll wait for the thing to hit clearance and save $50-$75. The Beta isn't the "flying brick" b/c it's stylish and curvy...
  18. Actually, the Beta looks different in almost every shot of it I see. There are a ton of inconsistencies in the show dealing with the Beta. I think Toynami's is great and closest to the original. CM's looks cool, but the price is ridiculous and the Alpha is crap from them. I think unless Toynami's is a QC catastrophe (which could happen), then it'll be the fan favorite.
  19. Looks lame... I think they've finally run out of cool ideas...
  20. Yeah it is. But that shows you that Toynami (the shitties company on earth) is ARTIFICIALLY inflating the price of the toy. If robotech.com thought they could sell it for that much, then that means they'd still be making a profit. So now we know Toynami is giving stores at least another $20...
  21. Well, that raises an interesting question....is the beta fighter as expensive as we've seen recently???
  22. Point taken. I'll probably just buy a armored fig if I end up getting that one...
  23. thanks for the clarification. I might have to get just that one. Don't know why, but I like it the most. The combining beetle ones are cool too though. I'm a sucker for a giant sword... So do they actually sell generic figures or do I have to get a full figure w/ armor? Neat little review site I just found. Reviews are in a foreign language though. But lots of pics... http://www.fanmode.net/2007/10/09/busou-shinki-sets/
  24. Which figure body is shown in this option kit? http://www.hlj.com/product/KNM13188 I scrolled through all the HLJ figures and didn't see her and the page for that kit says it doesn't include a figure??? These things are really cool, but they are pricey. Like Amdriver but all female. Oh, and I found those two figs you have shown above in their original colors. Sold out though, but it's more info none the less... http://www.hlj.com/product/KNM13694 http://www.hlj.com/product/KNM13693
