PS2 Backups Running on PS3 via USB HDD I just tried it out myself on my and it works, all without voiding the PS3 warranty. Import games and backups alike booted up fine. Although the load times seemed to be a bit longer and there's some skipping on FMV's, but the hard drive I used to test it out on is old with several bad sectors, so that might have something to do with it. And before anyone asks, the PS2 Macross game played like a champ on my US PS3.

I have an interview with Ishiguro where he says that Vanity City was suppposed to inherit to takes Mospeada's timeslot after Mospeada had ended. Both series had the same production studio, transforming motorcycles, and the same toy sponsor (Gakken). People have probably misread that as a Mospeada sequel. But Vanity City is to Mospeada what Orguss was to Macross.

Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development
TheLoneWolf replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
The VF-11B looks fantastic, small tailfins and all! It's going to be hard waiting for the 2nd or 3rd release with all the QC fixes. -
MacrossWorld polls are meant for fun, their results should not be taken too seriously.

Oh, people are definitely looking. If you want to know exactly how many times, upload your picture as an attachment and you can see precisely how many times it's been downloaded (you have to be logged off to see the numbers). Of course each thread has it's own hit counter, but there's no way to tell how many of those hits came from bots.

You know Yamato has pumped the VF-1 keg dry when they release something like this.

The Xbox 360 Thread Pro Edition
TheLoneWolf replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I installed the update last week and my 360 has been fine. -
Yamato probably reissued their Q-Rau's to cash in on Frontier's success. Pixie Squadron is very popular with fans and the 1/60 Q-Rau is the closest we have to a 1/60 Q-Rea. As for 1/60 Regults, there's already one out on the market: the Matchbox Battle Pod! It's probably closer to 1/61 scale and isn't very detailed, but for $15 it's a fair deal.

IIRC, Graham also said that only simple shapes can molded with POM, nothing too complex.

I have that issue, and no, there were not any legal reasons behind any of the character or plot decisions. The producer just didn't want them reusing the old characters, that's all. The Valkyries were brought back because it's Macross and everyone expects to see them in Macross.

I can see where you're coming from, but I doubt that Max was only human who had a child with a Meltrandi after the SW. And the similar family name could be the directors homage to the Jenius name.

Maybe it's because fighter mode profile shots would highlight the inaccurate canopy?
-
Thanks for the confirmation, sketchley. I agree that Macross II has always been, and always will be, an official Macross series. But for the sake of clarity, I prefer to refer to Macross II as merely an "official" series and the Studio Nue productions as "canon" series. Wonderful, another contradiction. The linear notes for Japanese Macross II OST states that Macross II occurs in 2092.
-
That's true with regards to SDF Macross. But Macross II is based off of DYRL. Macross II is actually set in 2092. And I've provided an official publication stating that it is, in fact, just "U.N. Spacy" in Macross II. Can you provide any official publication stating otherwise? I haven't picked up Macross Ace, but Macross II is now canon? Can anyone confirm or deny this?
-
U.N. Spacy was not reorganized into NUNS in Macross II. That's just a false urban legend that's grown long in tooth. This is Animation Special 5 clearly refers to the military in Macross II as "U.N. Spacy." Also, the military uniforms in Macross II display the "UNS" acronym. See the right sleeve in the picture below. So where did all this NUNS nonsense come from? NUNS is a news station in Macross II. It's never explained what NUNS stands for, it could be "News of U.N. Spacy" or "Network of U.N. Spacy." My guess is that NUNS is the official news division of U.N. Spacy. NUNS makes use of the flying kite, they broadcast military propoganda, and they're in charge of broadcasting the Moon Festival. Below is a picture of a NUNS reporter interviewing a victim, note the spiffy NUNS logo on the microphone.

Robotech and HG license debates
TheLoneWolf replied to Roy Focker's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Robotech Art 3 has a brief paragraph summarizing what the original plot was supposed to be about. Macek's completed script for the original version of the movie was auctioned off at Robocon 10. That's probably the most detailed document out there. Unfortunately the winning bidder also had to sign a non-disclosure agreement, so we'll never get to read the script. -
Ride Armors, Legioss and Treads! Oh my!

What jenius said. And "Stig" is a creative misspelling on ADV's part. His name is supposed to be translated as Stick. -
Simply breathtaking!

Totoro242, how about starting a seperate thread for the calendars? They're different enough from posters to warrant their own thread, plus the Collectors forum could definitely use some more threads.

Another Robotech comic worth checking out is Robotech: Firewalkers. It's a one-shot comic about Lancer as her arrives to Earth. Even though I'm not the biggest Mospeada fan around, for some reason I really enjoyed most of the New Generation era comics.

The Japanese version released last year by Bandai Visual is superior to all the current North American releases. But as expected, the film grain is easily seen. The tradeoff is better picture clarity. In the second attachment, I've thrown in a comparison shot in which Bandai apparently removed the film grain. Film purists may scream bloody murder, but I think Bandai actually did a great job. edit: Oh yeah, as for a Blu-ray release. I think Bandai will release a Blu-ray set within the next two years, but I fully expect it to be shovelware (ie: no major improvements). Then Bandai will participate in the inevitable "double-dip" and release a second BD set with the film grain artificially removed. It's all about making money.

Solscud007 and Jasonc, those are very impressive collections. Totoro242, just use the attachment function.

The Aim for the Top! Gunbuster Thread v2.0
TheLoneWolf replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Sorry to hear about that auction, Valk. If the 1/20,000 Exelion ever shows up again, just ask Celga to post a bid ASAP. Normally they wait until the last day to bid in order to get the lowest possible amount, but in this case it backfired.
