1. For you Mac guys still having trouble getting these .mkv files to work, try playing them with MPlayer (http://www.mplayerhq.hu/). Worked for me...
2. I think you're right, they're called Fuchikoma's in the comics, Tachikoma's in the TV series.
3. I'm the same boat as you, while I've been able to view just about anything I have yet to find a solution for the mkv files. Would be nice if I could convert them to .avi, sine I just picked up a DiVX-compatible DVD player.
4. At the Robotech panel I attended a few weeks ago at SacAnime, Kevin McKeever made a comment about the soundtrack being recorded in Prague. A typical know-it-all otaku type raised his hand and said "You mean, the Czech Republic." Nothing like a dumb nerd to make me hate anime conventions.
5. Considering how much the design for the SDF-1 owed to the White Base, that's not too surprising. As for the change in the SDF-3's appearence, I think it has to do with them ret-conning the design. The original design of the SDF-3 was designed to "look" like a Zentraedi ship.
6. Electronics are like cars. The louder, the better.
7. Considering how lousy most of ADV's releases are, I can't say I feel much sympathy for them... Robotech or not.
8. I kind of expected as much, but it doesn't hurt to try.
9. Sexy Parodius is probably my favorite shooter. Easily the Saturn game which gets the most play from me, and it's just a little bit insane.
10. I just ordered it. Never had much of an intention to see Eva, but for $6... can't pass that up.
11. That controller looks like it sucks balls.
12. From the panel I attended a few weekends ago, Kevin McKeever made it seem like they were still shopping for a distributor or at leats negotiations hadn't progressed to the point where he could disclose them. For what it's worth he also said the movie was a few weeks away from finishing production. Yeah, it's not like it has multiple conflicting sequels or inexplicable costume and character design changes or anything.
13. That's probably the most exciting thing they've put in a Nissan in the past 10 years.
14. They're talking about the comic, not the actual animation. I saw the "trailer" which HG has been showing off at conventions and to potential distributors, and I wasn't entirely impressed. The animation quality seems respectably decent, but the trailer had a LOT of still images used which is a decidely low-budget trick used in animation. The little dialogue that was in the trailer was also pretty miserable, and this is coming from a guy who LIKED the original Robotech dub.
15. There's still a couple games coming out for the DC in the coming months, both shooters.
16. The covers were about the only thing Kevin Long did decently well. I wouldn't call them "amazing," but they were okay. I agree that Palladium should have just used lineart for the RPG books and I find their decision not to somewhat odd considering the books had a *little* official lineart in them, but not much. Besides looking better, having lineart in the books also acts as a cheap alternative to the more expensive Japanese art books. A good example of this is the Bubblegum Crisis RPG, which was full of lineart and a much cheaper alternative to the then more expensive B-Club Special.
17. I think you're right about it being to ensure jobs. A friend of mine (from CA) goes to school in Oregon, and this past winter break she went to the gas station here and sat in the car for 10 minutes before remembering she had to pump her own gas. For what it's worth, people in Japan don't seem to pump their own gas either. Not sure if it's because of laws like the Jersey/Oregon thing, or if it's just a result of Japan's service-oriented businesses.
18. Might have something to do with the fact that the rest of the world pays twice what we pay for gas at the pump? I've never understood the bitching about gas prices. If you have to commute, but a fuel efficient car. If you have a high performance car that sucks up gas, then deal with it because it's part of owning a vehicle like that, it's a sacrifice you make for a cool car.
19. There were never any 3-rotor RX-7s. There was a 3-rotor (20B) Mazda Cosmo, but that's the only time a 3-rotor has been seen in a commercial Mazda vehicle.
20. I favor the Countach myself. 360016 For a few years yeah, but that thing is super dated now. 360018 Dated, obscene and completely devoid of any pleasure in driving it. Sounds like a good car...
21. I'll no doubt be in school and working during the summer, so no vacation plans to get in the way. I'm open for just about any weekend.
22. Starting to look that way... 359230 Give us 20 pages and we'll have totally forgotten what the word "classic" meant. Oh wait... that took us a lot less than 20 pages.
23. I don't read a single post that guy makes... Its too much work, and at the end you realize that you have just wasted the last few min reading incorherent crap. 358963 Hah, yeah, maybe I should have said he went over the maximum word limit?
24. The second generation RX-7s are made for high freeway speeds, they absolutely purr at over 90mph and make long car trips a lot of fun. When I used to go up and down California on a regular basis (for school) my '86 made the trips up and down 5 and 99 a lot more tolerable. The Japan trip was great, trying to figure out some ways to get back soon. But my school schedule is hectic right now, so I'm not sure when I'm going to be able to squeeze it in. What are you doing in Germany?
