  1. ...Not to mention that Max probably got ranked off of the scale in virtual Valkyrie runs. I always wondered if some enterprising young Corporal or something found Max playing Battroid Attack! and kinda, you know, 'slipped him the idea' that he should try out for being a pilot. Needless to say, glasses or no glasses, I don't think that a pilot of Max's caliber would have been turned away from the Spacy--it could have been that he was a one-time exception due to his skills, and what skills they were!
  2. I just wanna give a thumbs-up to everybody that's helped in this thread. While I didn't KNOW that I needed some things cleared-up, it certainly helps to hear an intelligent discussion such as this with regards to ranking systems...like how Focker was given as a Lieutenant Commander in the television show, and then poof! they refer to him as Major (actually seen in the animation on his cockpit display) in "Do You Remember Love?"--Excellent. Thank you.
  3. Ohmigosh, that's cruel. Don't bash Minmei! Though, if I had to strike one of 'em with a wooden chair, you know it would be Mylene, because her "Mylene Jenius Sings Lynn-Minmay" album was sacreligious (except for her own song at the end!)
  4. I'm from Northern California, in the United States of America. Too bad all of the good conventions are in Southern California, huh? Ah well. You guys are lucky...which brings to mention that it seems like Calfornia is probably the only state which could seriously (and usually does) get separated into two during regular conversation.
  5. That reminds me of how the gym teacher acted in the movie version of AKIRA: "Discipline!" *slap* "Discipline!!" *slap* "Discipline!!!" *slap* "Discipline!!!!" *slap* "DISMISSED!" That kid needed discipline, alright. And school is in session. "Arigato gozaimashita!" Damn straight.
  6. I think that we should try some of our own--this thread could get built-on and hopefully go for a while. I'm not going for absolute greatness, but here's a couple of mine: P: Gerwalk lever broken S: Battloid lever modified to only go down half-way P: Thrusters minimally responsive S: Gave thrusters some encouragement P: Gunpod jammed S: Added peanut butter for good measure P: Too much air pressurising in space S: Poked hole in overhead canopy P: Sound Packs not loud enough S: No action taken
  7. I know that the legalities regarding Macross are finely-woven, but I was always with the gross understanding that Big West had the legal rights to all things included in Macross, as the series was of their design. Tatsunoko held no rights to it because, even though they were the principal animators of the series, their job was of a "service contract" in which Big West essentially paid them to animate THEIR series. Correct me if I'm wrong on this. Of course, if Tatsunoko held rights to it, then Big West would have to "give some of Macross" to all of the other studios that animated it, and you know there's a 'Friend' who's gonna be looking for some of that action!
  8. You mean Mylene Jenius doesn't walk down City 7's streets with a red one-piece outfit that rides up on her in all the right ways?
  9. Actually, (and I don't mean this sadistically) I hope that you do get to see this kid again. It will be either very good or very bad... Option 1: The Good "So, did you have a good time watching those DVDs I gave you?" "Oh yeah! It was SuperUltraMegaCoolness! Can you tell me about how the planes transform and about the aliens?" *big grin before storytime* Option 2: The Bad "So, did you have a good time watching those DVDs I gave you?" "Huh?" *big grin before beatdowntime*
  10. That really would be awesome, especially if they used the even-slightly-higher quality of animation that was displayed in the opening sequence for Dynamite. And though I could easily love Haruhiko Mikimoto's style of drawing Mylene, Basara, and even Veffidas, I gotta wonder what Ray Lovelock would look like coming off of his pen. Hmm...
  11. Although it could be interpreted as Harmony Gold covering their own butts from prosecution, I really think that, if you look at The Sentinels, the characters are SO changed that one couldn't really argue to the contrary. (Though I always found it interesting to think of Max's look in The Sentinels juxtaposed with his look in Macross 7...) Oh, and about the VF-1?--The original Valkyrie series never showed-up in The Sentinels animation, only the Alpha-Beta/Legioss-Tread series. Hmm...Kinda gives notice once again to the idea that Harmony Gold had worked to use the material (at least in animation) to which they hold rights, and not challenge mighty Big West to a legal duel.
  12. I know how you all feel about Macross 7's music getting stuck in your head! If I remember correctly, it felt like I was gonna open-up a can of whoop-Valk on my DVD player after I heard "Planet Dance" for like, the tenth time in three episodes. But make no mistake, I love Macross 7! [continued from previous:] "...Beato wo kanjiru kai!"
  13. If you're talking about the Macross II RPG that was done by Palladium Books, then I'm sorry to say, no. Its out-of-print now, but its not EXTREMELY difficult to find, provided that you look around for it. I know--I've owned two.
  14. That movie cost HOW MUCH to produce? Seriously, the visuals were cool, and honestly, I loved the way they looked, but a hundred mil? That's crazy; they must have been paying the teen-movie actors way more than a regular movie...
  15. Indeed. Have I not already said and displayed that I am not ignorant of Macross?--Don't push that number stuff on me 'cause you get some idea that I'm a fool-poseur Macross fan. Read the signature, please.
  16. Suffice it to say that, amongst other things, the intolerant fandom around here forced me to change my name.
  17. Thanks for the insights. I can tell that you really thought that one through. Don't be a hater.
  18. Sorry--it was a gross generalisation thrown out with regard to the graphics. (Y'know, the whole after-playing-PS2-Macross-the-others-seem-plehbian effect.) Yeah, I know that DYRL? had some awesome sprites, but again, I haven't even played the computer game that you're talking about and don't intend to, so I merely meant a comment based on the single screenshot the page holds.
  19. Wow! I mean, I know (because I said it myself) that Minmay is the hottest musical artist in known existence at the time, but for the U.N. Spacy to dedicate a certain amount of Valkyries exclusively to protect her...well, one has to wonder what kind of vested-interest they have in her singing (hint hint, Propaganda). But as for the concert dates on Earth? Hmm...Well, I suppose that with the multi-playing of Minmay's fate at the end of Flashback 2012, either way is possible. I just kinda figured that most people believe that she went with the Megaroad-01, which would be contrary to what this model company's turning out. Then again, if you completely *ignore* the tour dates, the Megaroad-01 might have been equipped with a Minmay Guard squadron...
  20. Based on that one screen shot, its sad that it looks awfully close to DYRL? for Saturn or RT: The Macross Saga for Game Boy Advance.
  21. What would have been interesting would be if they decided to replace the destroyed Daedelus cruiser with an ARMD vessel and leave/restore the Prometheus! Totally blows the symmetry of the ship, though, but it would like, you know, give the tourists a trip down memory lane, old-meets-new technology kind of stuff.
  22. Welcome, and thanks for the tips. Maybe this thing could really help me in welding my Destroid missle launchers to the beat-up, hardly-salvagable Quadluun-Rau I've got sitting in a box. I've been wanting to do it for forever... Konichiwa until next time? Uh, yeah, sure... Ja né!
  23. I've just gotta ask this question, because honestly, I don't really understand how to succeed in this game... So really, how can I possibly destroy the battlecruisers without totally wasting my Valkyrie squadrons? Do I have to do hit-and-run? Do I have to wait for them to come into range, then blast 'em with my Monsters? This is a cool game, but for some reason, the logic for succeeding doesn't come to my mind...
  24. That's cruel! Poor Kakizaki! I swear, there's a conspiracy to make everyone hate him, and you never hear about fanfics where he survives...Wonder why?
  25. I'm trying to remember my video game history... If I recall correctly, the TurboGrafx-16 was released, followed by the Turbo CD. Following the release of both systems, the company decided to release the system as one totally-integrated system (called the TurboDuo) with a suped-up processor that surpassed the combination of the TurboGrafx and the Turbo CD. In essence, they released a powered-up system that left the original combination of systems in the dust. As a result, the new system could play some games that the original combo could not--these games were released under the title "Super CD." However, the developer created a sort-of expansion cartridge for the original TurboGrafx that could be used to allow the system to play Super CD games when attached to the Turbo CD. So, to answer your question: The difference between Turbo CD and Super CD games is that one requires a better processor. If you have a TurboGrafx-16/Turbo CD combo, you'll need the expansion card to play the Super CD games--which I would assume that you already have, if the horde you found has Super CD games in it. And if you have a Turbo Duo, you're already set to play the Super CDs. Have fun! Oh, and if you're looking for good games, I would reccomend the Adventure Island games, the Bonk's Adventure games, and Air Zonk. All of 'em are classics, and if I recall correctly, there were also a few RPGs that only ever got released on TurboGrafx, but you'll probably be hard-pressed to find someone that will be willing to release those without a substantial price tag.
