  1. Yes, I did. The Shadow Chronicles sucks = Tommy Yune sucks = Let him know that he sucks Is this too broad of a concept for you to grasp?
  2. Then at least maybe all the people who claim to be "hardcore" fans can shut the hell up. Hey, I'm not working to offend anybody, man, but if you're gonna throw stuff out which has no real contribution to the conversation, at least make it insightful instead of simplistic. Besides, it takes me something like eight minutes to write something like I just did; I'm a writer by profession, so don't think that I'm dedicating countless hours of my life to writing this stuff just because it takes other people hours to write the same. I explained what needed to be explained and you come back to ridicule me; what are you trying to accomplish other than shooting me down for answering a question? Agreed on all accounts. Tom Bateman was the one person on the inside of Harmony Gold, it seems, who actually had some semblance of understanding of how Robotech works and has operated (as a storyline) for the past twenty years. To see him gone is a sad day indeed for Robotech fans, but then again, it may be that every day from now on may be rightfully labeled as 'a sad day for Robotech fans.'
  3. You've got my respect for figuring that one out. I'm shrugging-off the countless insults thrown at me on this thread because, as it's been said on another Anime Expo thread, even people that come here all the time are willing to admit that Macross World forumers are generally jerks. It's part of the culture here, and I can appreciate that--I say my thing, you say your thing, no one really pays attention to each other's insights or gains something new in their minds, and at the end of the day, we're all friends. It's more like a gridiron football locker room than a senatorial floor (like many Robotech forums) and that's the flavour I've come to expect. Yes, I did it. I'd like to think I explained everything quite succinctly in my three-day catalogue of thoughts. I wasn't afraid to bare by self or my ego to the world, and now I'm seeing that people quite enjoy dissecting it. Not many people, I can surmise, would be willing to openly admit everything that goes through their heads the way I have done, but this belief notwithstanding, it's certainly interesting to me to hear all the Robotech fans who really want change to happen ridicule this action when--as most Macross World supporters could likely attest--nothing really ever happens in Robotech because all that most Robotech fans do is sit-back and wait for stuff to happen. When bad stuff happens, they pretend that it's good; when good stuff happens...well, we're still kinda waiting for that. It's this kind of denial that defines Robotech fandom and which I wished to change; I am not above admitting that perhaps I went-about things the wrong way. However, what is done is done, and unlike many others, I was not willing to deny that which I wished to see happen. Too many people utilise this tool called "the Internet" to spout-off and talk big, filled with bravado yet unwilling to back it up with real action, and though it could easily be called egotistical, my action was partially fueled by a belief that, if these perpetual-talkers saw that actual action still existed, they too would be willing to stop using the safety of sideline-commenting as a safety net to potential defeat when executing something in real life, and maybe something would change. At the risk of sounding defensive: I'm not psychotic, as many people would enjoy judging me to be. What led to this was calculated and decided based (as all people's are) upon my own personal values and beliefs. If Harmony Gold doesn't give a damn about what a large portion of their fans have to say, then how do we get them to listen?--Talking some more obviously isn't an answer, as we've been doing that for years. Taking it to the source and speaking in-person isn't an answer, either, as Tommy Yune has shown in past meetings, for he seems to change his face depending upon how to better use the situation to make himself look good. While I can admire the man's skillfulness in continually pulling this off, it isn't a skill which is relative to being a skillful continuator of Robotech. As I noted in my text, I'm an artist, too, and artists should never have to answer to someone else's demands. However, Tommy Yune has willingly accepted the reins of the Robotech franchise and, while he is welcome to take it in his own direction (as Kawamori has done with Macross) his past works have been just-above-average at-best, and this is disconcerting to Robotech fans who love the series. Were he to have been willing to be humble and admit these shortcomings, there would have been hope for many that the next time would be better. Unfortunately, it was a five-year waste of time consumating in Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles. What I did was stop the talking. Again, it may have been the wrong way to go about things, but when talking has not yielded a decent result in the past, what is the next step? People have pointed that I could have easily done something far worse, but again, I did not because I am neither sadistic nor malicious. All I intended to do was send a message via a different medium in the high (and perhaps misguided) hope that it would have a different response than everything before, and I followed through with the promise. Sincerely yours, Khyron_Prime/Kamjin 639
  4. Exactamundo! Your turn, JELEINEN! ãŒã‚“ã°ã‚Œï¼
  5. ...though it's not a bad guess. I never understood people's facination with Evangelion's sexuality. It's not like it was THAT big of a part of the series.
  6. Due to its sexual content and graphic violence, which animé series is well-known to have received three separate American releases in the DVD age alone?
  7. Well, I would...except I really wouldn't "pay money" for The Raven. But I am interested. Care to enlighten someone who may or may not have given-up on the series too soon?
  8. Oh, man...I knew that somebody just had to make a stupid crack like that...
  9. 俺様ビッグブラザーã„ãªã„ã‚ˆï¼ ï¼¹ï¼¯ï¼µï¼²ã€€ï¼ï¼¯ï¼´ï¼¨ï¼¥ï¼²ï¼ï¼ 誰ã 「英語話ã™ã‚„ã‚ã†ã€ã‹ãï¼Ÿï¼ ä½•ã®ã‚³ã‚ºãƒ¢ã‚¿ã‚¤ã‚¬ãƒ¼åˆ†ã‹ã£ã¦ãƒ¼?! ãƒãƒˆãƒã‚¤ãƒ‰é£›ã³è¾¼ã‚€ã£ã¦ã®æ™‚ãŠã¼ã‚Œï¼Ÿï¼ãƒ?!
  10. I'll agree on that one, and trust me, I absolutely hated "The Raven" when it first came-out. It was like the writers couldn't agree on whether Nick or Amanda deserved more screen time AND some think-tank agreed that making immortals the sole focus of the show would scare-away too many "normal" people (and we all know how many non-sci-fi fans love Highlander...or even watch it). But by the time that the series finally reached a decent swing and Nick was actually becoming a character who was worth watching, it was either being dropped from syndication in my market or just discontinued altogether. If "The Raven" could have used one thing (and only one thing) it would have been returning Amanda to being as hot as she was in the original Highlander TV series. I could never understand why they decided to make her greatest asset to the franchise (being hot, female, and an immortal who could more-or-less handle herself) go away in favour of some "in order to be tough I can't be feminine" retardedness.
  11. "For the last time, kid, the bathroom's right behind you! Geez..."
  12. I wanna say "Horrific," but then again, I'm really not an admirer of the Chinese language, so label me as biased. Whomever wrote the lyrics did quite a good job at at least matching the general "feel" of the original and adapting it to Chinese. When it was over, I was relieved but still, I suppose it's better than the Chinese production company deciding to replace Minmay's magnus opus with a completely different song...or a terrible overdub, a la English Macross II Ishtar.
  13. Maybe...ask boinger if he'll post it on his Rapidshare account. I'd personally love to hear what this song sounds like. (Goodness knows how long I spend translating the lyrics just to get a remedial, non-audio understanding of the song...)
  14. I don't know why, but I'm gonna try my best to transliterate some of the lyrics I found to this song. Comparing them to the original Japanese version should be interesting... I got kinda romantic after a while, but most everything is just basically a mix between the syntax-less Chinese language, my poor understanding of how emotions are conveyed in that language, and me filling-in the blanks with a romantic vibe befitting the song's heritage. I found the original here. Enjoy!
  15. Not that I have much to add, but the Google translation is (perhaps understandably) absolutely horrific. The pinyin-Cantonese romanised title being 「真情æµéœ²ã€ã€("Jan-ching Lau-lou", )... I would (roughly) translate it into Japanese as 「真情ã®æµéœ²ã€ ("Shinjyou no Ryuuro")... Or, into English (from Japanese, because I must admit I can understand it better that way), as "Revelation of True Feelings." I must admit without hearing the song itself that the Chinese title certainly seems more dramatic than 「愛ã€ãŠã¼ãˆã¦ã„ã¾ã™ã‹ã€ ("Do You Remember Love?") Hope that helps a bit.
  16. Let's not avoid the potential for it being a "Tatsunoko-Anime Friend" relationship... ...'cause that's pretty much the way I'm feeling about this series being made.
  17. Both?--I'm not even being sarcastic. Both Misato and Asuka were so all-over Kaji that they would've settled for half of the man instead of none. That might be true, but it's not like Evangelion has ever had a chance to "rest."--As soon as the animation was over, Yoshiyuki Sadamoto was giving "his version" in comic book form. Art books were being produced like there was no end. Then there was "the end," with Death & Rebirth/End of Evangelion. Then more books, detailing not only ordinary book-stuff like mecha designs and character line-art, but freakin' discussions between animation companies and producers as-if most people even care. Model kits are still being made, feeding not only the original fanbase but a sort of poseur-fanbase of people who "learned from others" to idolise Evangelion's "brilliance." The comic book-based story, "Iron Maiden," ran (or may still be running) in Asuka Comics for far longer than anyone could care, basically under the guise of any-other girl's comic story EXCEPT it was "good" because it was Evangelion. So yeah, Evangelion might not be in animation, but it never really stopped. Where there's money to be made, Japanese companies WILL milk it for what it's worth. While I understand this, if I had to see anything, I'd rather see Evangelion make a new story than play horsee to the fanboys who ride the same characters day-in and day-out.
  18. ...Anything other than the singing, gents?
  19. While we're at it, why did the "geniuses" at GAINAX decide to "funkify" the name of the series? OLDTYPE:
  20. Because it's a million times better than playing yet another Squaresoft RPG with estrogen-injected male characters?
  21. And I should be excited...why? Don't get me wrong; I thought that Evangelion was brilliant, and I'm one of the few people who seems to actually support the original ending for the series due to it's strong make-you-think-for-once-you-stupid-animé-fanboy style. But Evangelion is old news. It's been done to death, and frankly, I'd rather see something new instead of yet another rehash of an old series. Were there really people demanding this? Are there still people who can't get-over a director who decided to show viewers who's really in charge?--For my awareness, everyone who's seen Evangelion has accepted the fact that everything went it's own way for a reason. Maybe if there was some sort of sequel of sorts, with a new storyline and new characters, I'd actually care, but I've seen and heard enough of Evangelion for my lifetime. There can be too much of a good thing.
  22. I completely agree with this sentiment. If I were to go ahead with a Macross project, I would think that taking Studio Nue's characters would in itself be a major no-no, if only for the reason that a story with new characters (if not also a new setting) would be far more exciting to longtime fans (myself included) than seeing characters already seen before. I appreciate the comments very much! Please, everyone, I'd really love to hear more opinions! And rest assured, if the comments really are positive, then I won't let this promise slide!
  23. Especially with Macross World Con coming-up, I've been pondering-over the idea of making a Macross fan comic for the fans to enjoy. For about two years, I've been working with an artist to produce comics (none of which, I will admit, have been produced to the level where we have been confident enough to submit them to a publisher) and distributing them to local comic book stores. While the response has been good, tackling a fan-base like that of non-Japanese Macross fans is a whole new ballgame altogether. I'd really enjoy the chance to make a Macross-based comic book, but one simple question is holding me back: Would anybody really care, or would too many "hardcore" Macross fans denounce it as utter crap simply because it's not "official"?--I could care less what Harmony Gold or Big West have to say about it, as I figure if it's popular enough to demand a response from them, I did a good job, anyway, but what I'm really worried about is that I'd be pulling-away from time making my own totally self-created stories in order to give something enjoyable to a fan-base who may-or-may-not be interested in it. So, truly, I'd like to know what everyone thinks. I'll put a poll on this thread, but spoken responses are far more useful to me than a black-and-white count of everyone who passes-by. Thanks!
