Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Plastic Models

If only they had released ozuma first. You'll probably end up getting them twice each because of the super pack and armor pack versions that bandai will release later. -
Bandai 1/60 DX VF-25 transformable toy thread
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to David Hingtgen's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Well if it's cheaper unpainted then I will be happy to just paint it myself. The savings in money from it being a kit can go towards just making everything more detailed and complex. As prices rise, I think I'm going to turn to good transforming kits a bit more now. Gundam has all the love. They should get their best people working on macross kits imo. I can see a lot of demand for transforming valk kits, especially given valks are by their very nature complex robots with moving pieces, unlike say the simpler zentradi robots like the Qrau and all that. Instead of making that 1/100 line of valks, bandai should just pour all their effort into making 1/72 transforming kits imo Then only the most popular valks in the 1/72 scale get the PG treatment if demand warrants it. If Bandai wants to beat yamato they can try to beat them in the detail by going to a larger size (1/48 PG?) and extra features. (perhaps something like having the intake covers that don't detach but transform like in the show, or side parts that are part of the valkyrie instead of seperate pieces?) Everyone is making fun of the 1/60, but if they had put all their focus and resource on one thing and concentrated all their effort into that one thing then they could catch up to yamato with ease. As much as I like the chunky monkey for its history as a sturdy toy, it's time for them to stop just re-releasing old vintage stuff and really strive to bring their toys/model to a new level. I mean doesn't it suck that yamato can't do a vf-11 C even though they are making vf-11 from macross plus? Bandai is just sitting on that. Re-releasing those old chunky munky macross 7 toys isn't my idea of progress. Vintage toy collectors wet their pants, but I'm the kind to only want to own the best version of something that is out on the market and sell off those that I don't need anymore. (that's why I have no problems with 'space') -
Yamato 1/60 VF-1A/D/J/S v2.0

By that time bandai might have perfect grade VF-1: the ultimate valk complete with seat that rotates upwards and can elevate out of the head in battroid mode. -

Well I want a perfect grade line of valks. Bandai has shown they can make great macross transforming models. The toys are for the collectors obsessed with tough materials. Models are for the displayer who wants accuracy. I guess that's why yamato is popular as they went somewhere in between. Something that tries to be accurate but being perfect transformable and able to be handled, make it feel moderately safe to touch as well. Yamato get a lot of sh!t mainly for the price of their toys though: these are expensive enough for us to be allowed to complain about the tiny flaws since at that price those criticisms are justified. What bandai can do is beat them in the long term durability and value for money areas. I think bandai should take a shot at doing the mospeda legioss and tread. -

So why did bandai have that thing underneath the middle of the fighter? Was it just to scare us? -

And if anyone else owns it could you do a youtube transformation vid? I'm curious to see how it transforms... Do you have to be extra extra careful about how you handle it when transforming? -
Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development

I think folding fin is the best idea. Just like the folding wings on the sv-51. Make it so that the side/back of the leg has a door that opens up, (like the perfect transformation hands with the door on the forearm mechanism on 1/48 vf-1 - which isn't really canon in the tv series anyway) the fin tip then folds to sit flush against the inside wall of the door. And when you close the door, the tip sits flat against the inside of the door. To lock the fin so it is always straight in fighter mode: you have a rod that sits inside it just like with the sv-51 wings. But also it comes with a cover to hide the switch mechanism for when you want to pull and push the rod up or down. (similar to the covers on the wings of the sv-51 when you are not equiping the wing boosters and missiles.) -

I like that the vf-11 is a big valk now. It matches some of the drawings in the anime where it is roughly the same size as the 19 and 21. What it means now though is that pilots who fly the vf-11 are bigger people than the ones in the cockpit of the 19 and 21. -
The HK ones are high quality bootlegs. Just kidding.

I like the triple changers in general. Too bad blitzwing was already taken for TF animated. I would love to have seen him in the universe line more to be honest. If springer appears that's going to be a must buy for me. -

Well MG or PG approach to this would be great. Maybe it would compete too much with the 1/60 toy though so they just settle for 1/72? At bigger size maybe they could make it even more PT. 1/48 I think would be too huge imo. -
I say yes. Make it. If not that, then the valk that brera stern uses.

Told ya Ozuma was cooler. Much better head unit imo. What parts aside from that are not perfect transformation? -
Yamato 1/60 VF-1A/D/J/S v2.0
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to Dante74's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
sounds like we need a version 2 1/48 with support for 2 seaters.. (using the 2 seat mod that nightmareb4macross came up with) All the improvements on the 1/60 like proper thrusters in the feet, the double joints, lack of low hanging shoulders etc could be standard for version 2. I know that would probably drive the existing 1/60 guys crazy...but yamato needs your money.. Alright time to start the poll: "would you buy a version 2 1/48 line of vf-1?" And I would say "yeah, with sideparts as standard". Then I could buy all the 1/60 at cheap prices as people upgrade to v2 1/48. To reduce costs and pressure on the hinge remove the diecast from the FAST packs, and the savings can go towards more tampo printing on the toy. Toy would be aimed at the serious collector, and exploit the limited run of each release (make only enough to go around with the occasionally super duper limited release for the elite) They could increase the gimmicks on the v2 like have head turret covers which could be removed or something. Hollow head lasers. Chest plate covers removable etc.( britai rips this off in SDFM) Just make it the ultimate toy. -
Ride Armors, Legioss and Treads! Oh my!

heh no wonder so many people give HG so much sh!t. Just so long as they can get toynami to bring over the Beagle Ride armor and give us a good price I'm happy. Mospeada is dead in japan. Votoms has an OVA, but where is the second mospeada series? 25th anniversary FFS. I hope the toys don't become so rare that we end up paying 100s of dollars more than they should be worth in the future due to lack of interest. Maybe Robotech can come to the rescue and through a RT tv series (with mospeada designs) bring about new lines of toys for that series which could be sold as mospeada with little modification? If the live action RT movie was to get made I would want the variable fighters to be the Alpha+beta/legios tread. Unless there were another series in japan which is a true sequel to mospeada. (then interest could gradually build up for it over time) -

At the end of the day you got two types of complaints: -"wah my shoulder broke. I'm not buying anymore expensive Yamato toys. But it looks beautiful!" -"argh what has bandai done to make the modes look bad? But I love the QC and cheaper price." The quest for the ultimate toy continues. As usual I'm going to wait for the reviews first. No hurry. Bring on the cannon fodder vf-171. -

I'm still interested in the toy but I think the model kit looks better though. That's it: Yamato and bandai should team up to make mastergrade macross valks. This is still undergoing changes though isn't it? So that means it might not look like what we are seeing in final form. -

Pics of Cel-shaded GTA Chinatown Wars on DS: Hopefully the isometric view doesn't obscure too much of your view when shooting things. (maybe they should have the building in front of the camera go translucent) -

I think it would be good if they did an arcadey castlevania again sort of like what capcom did with the ghouls n ghost game on psp. Just make an easy mode for noobs, and a harder mode for old school fans who want to be punished for slightly mistimed moves and want to perfect each level completely. They already did a Contra 4 for the DS, so I think a new Vania is in order. Set it way in the future where vampires have got cyborg implants and use sci-fi blasters and you are a vampire hunter with a powered armor and beam saber. Just kidding! The thing is: if they want to make 3d castlevania they've got to learn from games like Ninja Gaiden. Don't do it half assed. -
Speed Racer the Live Action Movie
1/1 LowViz Lurker replied to Ladic's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yeah I thought it was done in the spirit of the cartoon. I think there should be an epilepsy warning at the start of the movie though : I agree with this spill.com review of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19ZjmjsnqYM If you think of it as a kid's movie, then I think kids would have gotten bored with the flashback bits because they are used to non-stop action. If you think of it as a movie for fans of speed racer when they were kids, then it won't bother you that these little bits of story pop up right in the middle of the action. Having said that.. they do that in a lot of martial arts movies too though: how many time does the guy who is about to get his ass beaten suddenly have a flashback of when he was training in between a fight or something. If you think of cars racing as a type of automotive martial arts then it makes sense. Speed is the little bro, who "does karate with cars". One thing I liked was the chu-chu-chu sound they used. It's like the sound for the transformation in transformers: you can't change these things! If you weren't a fan of speed racer and just want a fun movie I would say rent it. If you were a kid and loved Speed Racer then I'd say the price of the ticket is worth it to see on a big ass movie screen. Some people might have issues with the bright colours because it kind of reminds them too much of a playstation game or something. But it doesn't look like it was going for realism but something in between cartoon and movie which (given the crazy stunts in it) you come to accept later. If you want gritty dark car races I suggest seeing the death race remake that was done recently. death race: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgSjt1hgIjk -

Universe Galvatron should have been a voyager imo. Let someone like warpath be a deluxe. And the idea of using bright high visibility safety orange plastic on him is just bad. This is why I can like the movie toy line despite not necessarily loving the insectoid aesthetic of the robot's faces. It at least tried to make the vehicles not look too much like toys. Looking forward to cyclonus. -
