That is flat out gorgeous.. I hope I can get any of my set looking that good!
I'm tempted to pick up more of those, honestly. I've got the main three for a trench run, but would love to branch out and do a couple more schemes from the EU.
Of course.. I should probably take the time to finish the other dozen X-Wings I have stashed away.. I probably have at least six of the original MPC mold, plus the larger AMT electronic version, as well as two Fine Molds 1/48s, and four of the Bandai 1/72s. With all the advances in the newer kits, I can probably use them for reference to make some huge improvements to the older ones.
Thanks!! I want to build the 6 models made for the first movie, all in 1/48. I all ready have Red 3 build from a 1/48 Fine Molds, and other 2 Bandai 1/48. Red 5 Will be next. It's the same with Macross, I want the main valks from the TV in 1/48!!!!

Great progress! That is just the version I wanted to do if I ever were to build another X-Wing.
How did you get the chipping? Liquid mask?
Thanks Indigo!
Yeah I use liquid mask.

The parts breakdown of that 1/48 X-Wing is probably one of the best things about it. First kit that you can actually attach the wings after painting and sealing the fuselage.
I'm mostly not a fan of the electronics because I hate having to plug in the ship to open the wings (fixable with mods), but I also noticed that the vanes in the exhaust look too thick compared with the 1/72 version. I wonder if they're oversized to better balance the light from the engine bulbs?
I might actually mix and match components from the Fine Molds version, since I think the nozzles on that kit are slightly better looking. Or, if I wanted to go a little wacky, I might source nozzles from a 1/72 F-4.
Mostly agree with you !!!

Thanks!!!

Hi there!
Well, I started working on my next project: Bandai 1/48 X-Wing. The Tomiya 1/48 Tomcat is almost done, with the whole Covid-19 situation (Costa Rica is also having problems). I have a little more time to work on the X-Wing and other projects that I have not worked on, like my Hasegawa 1/4000 SDF-1 TV version attack mode and the 1/72 VF-25. For now, photos of the X-Wing. I'll build Red-4 from A New Hope Death Star Battle.
Cockpit paint
Black Basing
First Marble Coat
That's a replica of the Red 4, something like that is my goal

That would be great !!, find some of those launch arms.

none of mine are built yet, however:
My plan is to drill a hole into the arm/arm armour, epoxy a brass tube into it, and telescope that over a brass rod mounted in a base.
depending on how well they balance [likely better than a 1/60 because of the weight difference] a flightpose stand might work [or 2 FP standsonly using 2 arms each, might be a better option].
Yetistand makes acrylic stands and adapters. he's a member on MW (@ChaoticYeti) and has several mount/interface options.
Thanks Slide, those Yetistand looks really nice!, A little expensive but very nice!

The bad photography doesn't dilute that amazing paintwork, don't worry! That F-14 is gorgeous.
Can't wait to see what you do with the Bandai X-Wing! I've got three of those to do eventually, but I'm really not all that interested in the electronics, so I'm trying to rig up an alternative way to open and close the wings. I'm still kind of salty they never released a non-electronic version, since all I really want is a way to open the wings without batteries.
Best option I've come up with so far is a pop-out handcrank that's hidden behind the back greeblie panel, and manually turns the motor mechanism. I'd love to remodel the entire thing as an upscale of the 1/72 kit, but duplicating the mechanism's precision would be iffy, and I can't deny the worm gear-driven mechanism is a solid way to keep the wings from sagging or rocking.
Thanks for your kind words too!! I have 3 X-WINGs too from Bandai and I Agree with you completely about Bandai not releasing a non electronic version. I want to build all the red squadron from 1 to 6 from A New Hope . I have 4 dream model kits, I am a really happy modeler, Hasegawa 1/48 Valkyrie series, Bandai 1/48 X-WING, Bandai 1/72 Millennium Falcon and Tamiya 1/48 F-14A. Can't think of better kits. Possible a 1/48 VF-21 and VF-11 from M+!!!

Joscasle, the pics of your great work almost make me pick up my Hase Tomcat again. But I also have a Skyhawk incoming... what to do?!
I'm on it
and I also have a Minerva incoming....
I saw the pics of your Hase F-14, I build a few and they are good kits but need lots of work. The Tamiya F-14 plays in another league, amazing kit. Thanks for your kind words, coming from you It is a great honor!!

Really nice work. I think you hit the target for what you were aiming. And that's probably the best photo of the bunch.
Looks like you started with a base coat, then speckled the whole thing, and then a top coat, before the gloss. How much did you dilute each step? I want to do a valk with this method, but a bit concerned.
Thanks Arbit!!
Yeah I started with a black base coat and then with several very diluted coats (80-20 thinner-paint) of several tones of grays, for the upper fuselage I use a mixture of the final color with darker grays and others with different amounts of withes . For the lower fuselage I use browns and some yellow, then the final coat with the Light Ghost Gray very very diluted. I user MRP paints and Mr Color.

Continue!!
Top final coat applied and ready for decals!!
As a side note, the tails are resin, same the chin pod and the gun vent and the beaver tail, this because I need to updated the kit to a later block.
Phoenix and and Sparrows already with decals
Next proyect!!! Bandai 1/48 X-Wing (Red 4), the other one is Fine Molds 1/48 (Red 3)
As always, sorry for my really bad photography
