A few months ago I started the Hasegawa 1/72 VF-25F, I want to paint all or at least most of the marks and don't use the decals (bad idea). This is the progress at the moment, made a lot of mistakes.

Much work is still needed to be done, I have painted everything black as a base and masked the shapes of the marks (error !!!!!), now I had to cover the strip black and repaint the red mark on the top of the fuselage, the other marks are painted and the decals were not used.

Yay! Finally a little progress after so much cutting, putty and sanding to correct the fit. Nice to have the Federal Standards chip book to mix paint colours.  I usually go a shade lighter for scale and allows for post shading - however my FS 36375 sample seems to have this weird purplish tint that I didn't reproduce, I made it towards the blue side of things as FS 36320 has a strong blue hue to it that I didn't want it to clash.  I think I'll try that black decal idea for the canopy interior - thanks.

You are right, Academy just launched a new 1-72 F-14A (Tamiya scale down but acedmy's quality) . I love the Fine Molds Kits, great quality, great detail and great fit (same as Tamiya)

Yep the  GWHis a great kit, have some issues with the wheels and the dorsal spine. Shape wise the FM IMHO is a better kit, but no weapons

The Fujimi still s great kit for the money

Thanks a lot!! Fine Molds 1/72 F-14A Tomcat is very good, it has the same detail and the same great fit, don't need to wait for Tamiya, really.

Tamiya 1/48 F-14A almost finish!, still need to work the seats, pilots and wheels (need to fix them in the right angle)

New update.  Hope you can see the difference jejeje. Thanks for all your advises. Still lot of work meed to be done.

I was going to suggest toning down the brightness of the yellow, but I can already see you're working on that with the upper nacelles, and weathering the rest of the ship like you have the back half should look great.

YEah the nozzels need work, I think the yellow will be tone down a little with the oleos.

mmm... yes and no. I will use oleos to color some panels and give some color distortion, noting too big, just a little effect, then see if the panel lining is needed.

ok, some updates!!  I think i NEED to tone down a little the darker areas in the thrusters, what you think?

I'm tempted to pick up more of those, honestly.  I've got the main three for a trench run, but would love to branch out and do a couple more schemes from the EU.

Of course.. I should probably take the time to finish the other dozen X-Wings I have stashed away.. I probably have at least six of the original MPC mold, plus the larger AMT electronic version, as well as two Fine Molds 1/48s, and four of the Bandai 1/72s.  With all the advances in the newer kits, I can probably use them for reference to make some huge improvements to the older ones.

Thanks!! I want to build the 6 models made for the first movie, all in 1/48. I all ready have Red 3 build from a 1/48 Fine Molds,  and other 2 Bandai 1/48. Red 5 Will be next. It's the same with Macross, I want the main valks from the TV in 1/48!!!!
