  1. Yeah. Plus, it's taking away the wrong stuff from the original. In my opinion, Super Mario 64 always looked better than the old 8-bit and 16-bit Marios... the older Marios played better.
  2. I wasn't sure about Peg specifically, but I thought Peg and the other Classics figures were going to be under the same "Generations" label as the new War for Cybertron figs. And I figured that Hasbro would start releasing those around the same time as the game, at the end of June.
  3. The Hot Toys are nice, but too big and expensive for my tastes. I picked up two of the Hasbro 3.75" figures... Iron Man Mark VI (not the glowy one) and War Machine (the movie one, not the comic book one). On the plus side, they're pretty detailed, including some numbers painted onto War Machine's armor. I also like that they come with a stand and a card (well, cards that, when stacked together, make one card) that fits into the stand as well. They make good display pieces, especially for what I'd want (to display them in a sort of Hall of Armor fashion, like Tony Stark might). On the negative side, they're not particularly poseable. The knees and elbows on both figures bend about 90 degrees. The ankles seem to be ball joints, but mobility is limited. The wrists rotate. The neck rotates, but in that "I'm looking down and sticking my neck forward" kind of way that means you're not turning them to look toward the side as much as you're turning their heads upside down. Shoulders can rotate forward or backward as well as move out to the side, but only until about shoulder height. They can both turn and pivot a bit where the chest meets the abdomen. The biggest disappointment is the hips. They look like big ball joints, but mobility is very limited. Iron Man can't sit or kick. He can basically decide if he wants to keep his feet close together, or if he wants to spread them to about the length of his base. In short, they make decent display pieces, but they're not terribly fun to play with or make cool poses out of. $7 is kind of pushing it for these guys, but I have a feeling I'll end up buying a few more.
  4. Is anyone collecting any of the toys? I've been trying to limit myself to just Transformers (and even then, I've been trying to stick to just Classics/Universe/Generations and none of the Bayformers), but there's something about collecting a bunch of different Iron Man suits that resonates me. I'm thinking about grabbing a few of the 3.75" figs...
  5. Well, my answer hinges on two things then. You mentioned that your X58 mobo supports 3x SLI... I assume that means 3x Crossfire too (I think that's part of the X58 chipset's spec)? The other thing is that, just because you can do something doesn't mean you should/will, so I'm curious how many slots you wanted to fill? For now, I'd maybe suggest a pair of Radeon HD 5850 cards. That'll give you plenty of graphics power for just about anything you could think of, plus Direct X 11 support if you're running Windows 7. You should be able to find 5850's for around $300 a piece.
  6. Just so I'm clear, do you mean that the budget for your GPU(s) is $500-$600? Or the budget for your computer is $500-$600, so I need to tally up the cost of the rest of your rig and pick a single card or dual-card solution on the remainder?
  7. Man. I have the Armada one, and I've always thought of it as good enough, but damn if I don't want that one now.
  8. Oh, I never said that the story was good. It rarely is in shooters. What I am saying is that it's better than the ridiculousness that passed for story in Modern Warfare 2.
  9. The NES Mega Man games. The Gundam Vs. Games. The Ace Combat Games. With very few exceptions, I pretty much play a game, finish it, then never play it again.
  10. I really liked Battlefield Bad Company 2. I dare say it was better than Modern Warfare 2... it wasn't as overly dramatic or as dark, and the squad in Bad Company is both more memorable and more likable. But in some cases, it's just more of the same thing... and War for Cybertron is looking awfully good...
  11. Do you need just a page, or do you need the page with working links to other pages (and probably those other pages)? If you go to PDFMyURL.com, you can give it a web address and it'll give you a PDF.
  12. They look different enough that, had you not said anything, I'd have never noticed. But now that you mention it, I can see the resemblance. It's not entirely surprising. I know that Volvo and Mitsubishi had a joint venture going in the early '90s, and when Ford bought Volvo they sold Volvo's shares of the joint venture to Mitsubishi. That joint venture produced the Mitsubishi Carisma as well as the Volvo S40. And I could have sworn that I read somewhere that it was a former Volvo designer who designed the current Lancer.
  13. The Impreza's not a bad choice (standard AWD ), and you can't reward Mitsubishi for bad behavior by actually buying the Lancer Sportback. But since I'm not into hatchbacks, I'm on the Mitsubishi side of the old Lancer/Evo-Impreza/WRX rivalry. Ultimately, all that matters is that you're happy with your choice. I've only had mine for a few days, but I adore it. Hope your Subaru's giving you as much joy.
  14. The sportback? Really? I've kind of thought of it as an eyesore. I'm not saying there's anything inherently bad about sportbacks, but the front of the Lancer just doesn't match the back, like they took the front and rear of two different vehicles and cobbled them together.
  15. I'm not going to say that spoiler never gets in the way, but it's actually the rear seat headrests that give me the most grief. I'm the kind of guy who doesn't just check his mirrors; I gotta take a quick peak over my shoulder before I change lanes. If I'm moving left to right, that puts the back seat on the passenger side's headrest in exactly the spot I'm looking. Luckily, they can be removed.
  16. My "attainable" dream car would be a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X. Yeah, I know everyone seems to have a fondness for other Evos first, but I really dig that body style (it was a step in the right direction after the way they brutalized the Eclipse). Still can't afford an Evo, though. Bought a 2010 Lancer GTS instead. What surprised me the most about the process how sentimental I got about my old car when I was trading it in. It wasn't anything fancy... just a 2002 Mitsubishi Mirage DE coupe. But it was the very first brand new car I'd ever bought, shortly after college and 3 days after I got married. After driving it for 8 years, I got kind of attached, I guess. Trading it in was a lot like putting down an old pet... you know it's for the best, but your gonna miss that loyal companion.
  17. Sorry. 3D Dot Game Heroes for me, at least until Alpha Protocol.
  18. I think it just came out this week. I went to the Target real close to my house yesterday, and they didn't have it. I didn't feel like dealing with Gamestop's douchebaggery (in the past few weeks, they've fired 5 store managers and two or three assistant sms in my area over really stupid stuff), so I went down the road to Best Buy and found it there.
  19. Originally from Energon. A repaint was being sold exclusively at Targets under the Revenge of the Fallen line.
  20. Anybody pick up 3D Dot Game Heroes? It's slightly surprising to see a game with so many 8-bit NES homages not on the Wii, but the game is really good. It's the game that is the most like the original NES Zelda I've ever played (although I've ran across references from Dragon Quest, Mega Man, and Armored Core as well). Seriously, this game does things for me that even the Gameboy, GBA, and DS Zelda games haven't. If an old guy saying "It's dangerous to go alone, take this" and giving you a sword brings back fuzzy feelings of nostalgia, get this game.
  21. I wonder how that works for the PC Steam users. I assume that since I already have Steam, if I installed Steam on my Mac that the copy of Portal I already bought would still be playable on my Mac even if they weren't giving it away.
  22. First off, consider installing Microsoft Security Essentials after you get everything fixed. It's free, it's lightweight, and it performs quite well for being basic protection. Also consider grabbing the similarly-free Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and running that from time to time. It's not as pro-active as MSE or other AV software, but I've found it to be better at removing infections that get by your regular AV software. Second, I've seen infections similar to what you're describing, in that you're locked out of running the most basic of programs, but they're almost always accompanied by some kind of fake AV popping up and promising to unlock your computer if you'll only give them your credit card number. These kinds of malware are very annoying to get rid of... they'll block you from running stuff like Malwarebytes that you might use to get rid of them. If you try booting into Safe Mode, they do a great job of hiding from scanners, so you're still infected when you boot back into regular mode. At work, I usually end up googling which processes, files, and registry keys are at the root of the issue and manually fixing them. Before you go getting out your Windows discs, if you can get to a clean computer there's a version of Malwarebytes that you can run from a USB flash drive... just rename it ie.exe. You can also download a distro of Linux that can run an AV software from a live CD. Lifehacker recently ran an article describing how to do just that.
  23. I missed out on ALL the G1 Seekers. So I feel you there. But if Reprolables makes a Peg decal, it'll mean we've started a meme. And that, my good Admiral, would be hardcore.
  24. A friend of mine had been talking this movie up for awhile as the funniest movie he'd ever seen. So on his recommendation, I rented it. And at first, I'm thinking that I must not get it. I'll admit, my buddy's black and I'm a white guy, and I was wondering if I was just missing something. I'm glad I kept watching. Turns out I was just being impatient with it. The movie's like a snowball of absurdity, building as it goes on. By the end, I was ready to admit that it really was one of the funniest movies I'd ever seen.
  25. Yeah... ever since Mac Plus, the Hory Froating Head loves himself some hip kibble. YF-19, YF-21, MP Starscream, GP-03, VF-14... And as hard as Grand Admiral is going to buy Thrust, if Reprolabels makes a Peg decal, I'm going to buy that so HARDER.
