Well that just reinforces my point all the more. Why bother with SEED when you can watch the infinitely superior Zeta?

So does anyone else have a 3DS? I bought one pretty much for Super Mario 3D Land, and I'll probably be picking up Mario Kart 7 on Sunday. What else is good? Even though I really didn't like it on the N64, I picked up Ocarina of Time 3D, and I'm thinking about getting Dead or Alive Dimensions as I've been a pretty big fan of that series. Oh, and I heard that Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy is supposed to be more like the PS2 Ace Combat games than the Assault Horizon game on the PS3/Xbox 360. -
Execute SEED's potential properly, and you have the original Gundam. Spacenoids attack colony where Federation is secretly developing Mobile Suits and a ship to carry them? Check. Colony is destroyed during the battle? Check. Civilian kid pilots hero Suit? Check (but to be fair, that's pretty much EVERY Gundam). Ship goes running to asteroid base and finds less than a friendly welcome? Check. Ship then goes to Earth? Check. Ship winds up coming down in enemy-controlled territory? Check. Winds up fighting in the desert? Check. Your around a third of the way through the series before SEED stops copying its plot directly from first Gundam, and by the time they start doing anything original you just stopped caring.

Verizon (and Sprint, and any other CDMA carrier) doesn't use SIM cards (with the exception of Verizon's LTE phones). That being said, you can take it to a Verizon store and have them program it to work with your wife's number. Contacts, pics, and apps are gone though... unless it's an Android phone. Then she should just have to pop her gmail account into it. Her contacts and calendar should sync right up. -
MGS4 was too much movie, not enough interactive. Gonna agree with eugimon. The Uncharted series feel like a fun summer adventure movies, ala Indiana Jones, The Mummy, or Pirates of the Caribbean, in terms of story, characters, and voice acting. But 95% of that story occurs while you're actually playing the game.

I picked up a 3DS at Target. $145, plus 5% off for using a Target credit card. The 3D is kind of neat, but ultimately gimmicky. I'm not super impressed with the hardware itself, although (battery life aside) it's really no worse than the DS (and I LOVED my DS Lite). It's the games that make or break a system. So far, I'm not really impressed with the available 3DS software, save for Super Mario 3D Land. It's the most fun I've had with a handheld game in a very long time, indeed, it's better than a lot of the console/PC games I've played this year, and definitely worth buying a 3DS for. -

Yeah, there's a backup option in the PS3's system menu. Some copy-protected game saves might not transfer, though. As for trophy data, that should sync with your PSN ID. -
Rescuebots is a toy line designed for toddlers and the show has Levar Burton and I'm totally watching it for that reason.

Technically, we'd really need to know more about your computer's specs to make an informed decision (CPU? RAM?). But those requirements are pretty paltry (in addition to my gaming PCs, it looks like I could run TOR on just about everything but my Ubuntu laptop and maybe the wife's laptop). If you're failing to meet them I'd say you're due to for a whole new box. -

Well, the socket 2011 chips are out today, and the reviews I've read basically say that they're more to prove that Intel's the top dog in the CPU industry and less something we actually need to go out and buy. -

Could you, as in "guy buying parts off Newegg"? Nope, the pins wouldn't match. Or could you, as in an engineer, like "does the next generation of high-performance Intel chips really need a different pin configuration? Could they have got the same performance if they designed the chip to fit in the LGA 1366 socket they hope to replace?" I have no idea. -

I thought the first LGA 2011 CPU and mobos were supposed to be out by the end of the month, but I'm not sure if/when they'll have PCIE3. Seems to me like Intel's been going through a lot of sockets lately. Everything was 775 for awhile, but this is the fourth socket for the Core-i family. -

I think I've heard of it... it's close to Harrisburg, right? Like I said, I've never been farther east in PA than Breezewood (because that's where you turn to start heading down to Maryland and Virginia), but I've wanted to visit that area. I also wanted to drive Rt. 30 to Gettysburg. When we went to visit relatives in Maryland, we drove Rt 30 to Breezewood instead of the Turnpike, and it was so much more scenic and relaxing. PA, especially central PA, can be a really beautiful state. Can't say if I moved to California that I'd miss the winters, though. The roads around here are lousy enough without six inches of snow on them... -

Not even Ocarina of Time. Or, especially not Ocarina of Time, since I pretty much hated it from the start (to be fair, I played until Link became an adult, so I gave it a fair shake I think). The Windwaker almost won me over, but the sailing got too boring for me. And Twilight Princess seemed ok, but I just got bored with it. I never bothered to even try Majora's Mask. For what it's worth, I like the 2D Zelda's just fine, including the Gameboy Color games (although I never got around to playing the ones on the DS). It's just the 3D ones I don't like. I'm almost the same way with Mario... I LOVE the 2D games, but I'm lukewarm on Mario 64 and Galaxy 2, and I can't stand Sunshine. I did like the first Galaxy, though. Now, just to be difficult, I'm not a big fan of 2D Sonic games. Whenever I try the Genesis games or the GBA games, they just don't hold my interest. But Sonic Adventure was the reason I bought a Dreamcast, and I loved the recently-released Sonic Generations (where I much preferred Modern Sonic's levels). -

I'd say that depends on where in PA you are. Where I live in North Huntingdon (a little east of Pittsburgh), I can jump off my roof and land... on the neighbor's roof. But in 5-10 minutes I could be in Arona, which is pretty empty. To the east is Greensburg, which is full of commercial stuff, but further east you start to head into the mountains, and it's pretty quiet and full of open spaces at least as far as Breezewood. I've never been further east than that. -

I've built two gaming PCs with Intel CPUs now. The first was a Core 2 Duo (E8500, IIRC). My current PC runs a Core i7 950. In both cases, I've run them at the stock speeds (3.0GHz for the Duo, 3.07GHz for the i7), and in both cases I've run them with the stock coolers. I haven't had any problems with either (although it definitely helps if you're using a quality case with good airflow... so far, I've used Antec and I've been very happy with both cases). Like I said before, the stock coolers are just fine if you're not overclocking, and while overclocking earns you geek points, I don't think most people do a lot of CPU-intensive stuff to really notice a benefit on a daily basis... and I say this as a gamer! I've just found it easier to start with a good CPU in the first place, and if you do decide to do gaming, a good GPU. As for buying a used CPU, well, I wouldn't. I mean, if you know the previous owner, and you know they took care of it, that's one thing. But I'd be to worried about a bent pin somewhere between taking it out of the old owner's board, packing it up, transporting it to you, and inserting it in your board. Then again, I almost never buy used computer parts. When I decide it's time to upgrade, I start squirreling away money until I have around $1200-$1500 I can spend free and clear, and they I order a bunch of parts from Newegg. I find few things in life as satisfying as getting a bunch of boxes, taking the contents out of those boxes, and spending the afternoon building a reasonably-priced gaming rig. -

This may sound odd, but unless your box is cramped or you're planning on overclocking, I've never had an issue with Intel's stock coolers. If you're set on an aftermarket cooler, I've heard pretty good things about Scythe's products, although some of them do tend to be pretty large. There's this one that's smaller, though. -
If you mean Exiles, I'm working on it. I've got maybe a quarter left. I think it's a better read than Exodus was.

Definitely in the anime. I remember him piloting the Guncannon in the episode where Sayla was piloting the Gundam. -
You want it, it's yours. PM me, we'll work out details.

Well, Kmart is giving a $50 gaming coupon for buying a PS3, so I picked up a 320GB slim Uncharted 3 bundle. And then I got bored while I was re-downloading all my stuff, so I started poking at the old ones again. There's a pair of... I dunno what you'd call them, round things in the front of the blu-ray drive. They seem to be connected to arms that run up the sides of the drive. I moved the arms, and the gray things rotated back and toward the edges of the drive. So I put everything together, hooked it all up in the bedroom, and turned it on. The drive made some noise that I'm sure it didn't make before... not a good sign, but I grab a disc I'd burned of some shows I'd downloaded off the net (that I could easily re-burn, if necessary). The drive took the disc in, and I could hear it spinning. This was an improvement! The disc spun for a long time, and I was afraid that it wasn't going to read it, but eventually it did. Feeling bold, I grabbed my copy of MGS4 (figuring that it'd be the easiest to replace), stuck it in, and it booted just fine. Long story short, I got the Blu-ray drive from my YLOD-ed 60GB PS3 working in the 40GB PS3 in which everything worked fine except the Blu-ray drive. I even swapped the hard drives, so I've got the extra storage in there now, too (although the drive had to be formatted). It just would have been nice if I could get it working before I broke down and bought a new one.
