  1. Dang, that's heavy. Then it will handle a pla model much easier.
  2. Oh, thanks, I didn't notice that. I just saw the batteries in the back. But regarding the functionality, notice how when the deck is weighted with a plane, it tilts forward as it goes up and down. I thought a professional design could avoid this drawback, which I first noticed when I researched this gear a couple years ago. Either the plane is nose heavy, or the tracks should be more centered on the deck to balance the weight. They may have been forced to mount the tracks and gears off center as a trade off, due to the form of the design and where the gears will fit. Or they might have tried to center the gears track, and it didn't work out. I wonder how much weight it can lift? I assume no more than 100-200 grams. Their 1/72 plastic model probably weighs less than 75g.
  3. Trying to figure out how the motor works. I think this is the same set-up as @MechTech used in his Daedalus Scratch Build. The motor is inside the deck (under the plane), and actuates two gears which crawl up and down the rail tracks on the sides of the lift. But I can't see how the motor is getting power.
  4. We're talking Macross 7? Okay, here's my take: I'm a 70's - 80's Yamato, Macross, Zeta, type of guy, and when I saw M7 it was blasphemy. I couldn't stand the bad animation, kitschy story line (do Exedore's giant head, vampires and spiritia ring a bell?). There was none of the "real" air combat stuff I loved as a teen, there was no classic love triangle, and the constantly repeated music and GETTA transformations grated on my nerves. In all, I saw maybe two frames of well drawn valkyries: One of the MAXL in gerwalk stance under a sunset and the Max/Miria launch at the end of the series; That's it, all other Valk key frames where designed for toddlers. But despite all the above complaints, which never improved, and I still hate to this day, the series grew on me. It had great characters, great attitude, an unforgettable force of the unviverse named Basara (who I assume was cloned from Minmay, daculture, and John Lennon), and the music was great, especially the CDs released after the series (I mean seriously, Fire Bombers vocalist is amazing). I will never rewatch it, it is not "my macross", but I am ready to listen to the music or rewatch Dynamite and the OVA's anytime to get my Fire Bomber fix.
  5. Looks great! Mechtech, your milling skills have gone up to a new level! Really clean and sharp. You could probably recast your creations and sell them.
  6. All bow down before the 3D Pen Master. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29dsCVFI0HM
  7. I want an unpainted version. Or repaint this one.
  8. Awesome work! It's a mess.
  9. Good call. Sometimes when a build is going well, you decide to put more into it.
  10. Having built my own RC 1/72 Elevator diorama, I can say this is a very reasonable price.
  11. Getting ready for your board game?
  12. I say, blue dress!
  13. Looks great. I just pre-ordered the Hasegawa Macross Zero F-14. Couldn't resist at the pre-order price. That'll be fun You going back to work on the Asimov project? Chimney!!!! I know, his stuff sucks. Nice weathering NZEOD. I like your outdoor pictures. Indoor pictures need soooo much light.
  14. To be honest, their pink valks have got me completely out of valk collecting since the VF-1J GBP came out a few years ago. Especially bumbed since I sold my original Yamato VF-1J thinking I was getting an upgrade.
  15. Hmmm... No idea. Holes are too small for gun turrets.
  16. Great job! It looks real nice. I like the little color variations in some of the areas, not all gray. And some nice little painted details.
  17. Mechtech, nice use of spare camera parts. Derex, I would build it and not worry about the canopy for now. Just don't glue it on until you come up with a solution.
  18. Cool. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it. It's a total playground.
  19. Me --- "I like how this guy is thinking. Mwahahahahahaha."
  20. That's sooo awesome. I love this little guy.
  21. Oops. Guess this should be deleted.
  22. Funny how we divide our hobby into things that scare us and things that don't. So what scares each of you? As for me, nothing scares me more than gloss coating and oils.
  23. Anyone know the correct mix for the TV SDF-1's blue and white with Tamiya paints?
  24. Build it. Light it. Motorize it.
