Alternate VF-19 FASTpack?
the white drew carey replied to the white drew carey's topic in Movies and TV Series
Kensei- Nope. The arms that lowers the VF-19 is attached underneath the fuselage, and the arms that grabs it and swing it out grabs it on the topside, There is a brief moment (at least on my video, whcih is too good) where you can see the FASTpacks, which brings me to... USCOLMRNE- I don't this they are the same FASTpacks that you've referenced. They are definitely more angular than the atmospheric FASTpacks. -
VF-1's Mk 82 convetional bombs
the white drew carey replied to Aurel Tristen's topic in Movies and TV Series
Nah... David just reads A LOT about planes and stuff. Anyhoo- Part of my reasoning that they are NOT the same ordnance is that, no matter which timeline you follow- TV series or DYRL, at the very least a large portion of the Eearth was blasted to a pulp in SWI. I highly doubt there was many, if any, remaining weaponry stores left on the ground after that. -
Sadly, I have a Mac, and can't get Flarestorm to work. I guess I'm just stupid when it comes to these emulators.

VF-1's Mk 82 convetional bombs
the white drew carey replied to Aurel Tristen's topic in Movies and TV Series
I'd guess it's a Macross realm fact, although the concept is probably taken from real-world sources. You'd have to think that nearly 40 years in the future, the UNSpacy wouldn't still be employing any type of munitions from the late 90's. So I highly doubt that it's a mistake and that it's a typo regarding any current real-world munitions. -
I'll get working on these new files as well. I've also decided that I don't like how I did the shading of the visor on these: , So I'm going to redo that as well.

Yf-19 wings when swept back.
the white drew carey replied to one_one's topic in Movies and TV Series
I'm only guessing here, but I'm assuming it's for high speed. If you look at the shape of the fuselage around where the wings connect, you'll see that when they are swept back it makes a very long lifting surface, just not very wide. This will reduce drag while still providing enough lift to keep airborne. I may be stupid, though. Maybe we should wait till David shows up. -
CNN.com CNN.com is doing a story on the new Appleseed movie, but you have to have their premium video service in order to watch it. If anyone here has that service, take a gander at it and tell us what it says.

Sure... just let me figure out how to make a transparent background. (I'm kind of stupid in some ways )

Original Macross Series at Blockbuster
the white drew carey replied to Prime's topic in Movies and TV Series
Well, that's kind of surprising since he was able to take mine, and other's, suggestions and usually get them in stock. The corporate HQ doesn't sit around and figure out the stats foe each and every store, and then pick the movies. The Store Manager (at least back then) had a lot of say in what movies should be available in their store, because the store managaer is the HQ's "link" to what customers have requested. -
I wasn't exactly happy with those borders, so I fixed them a bit, especially the colors on the Attack Border.

Original Macross Series at Blockbuster
the white drew carey replied to Prime's topic in Movies and TV Series
Or it's possible there's a Macross fan who works there. Back home when I was in high school our Blockbuster had a pretty good anime section before it was popular, simply because the store manager was an anime fan. -

Lookin' good, Roycommi! How come I didn't get those character pictures yet? I was thinking about our discussion regarding the helmetted characters. We can either use the face-on view like in the original, or we could use some more angled views like in the Macross: Remember Me and Skull Leader games (which I think would look better, but would also be veering away from the original ELS. Your call, Sempai. P.S. I'll work on those Move and Attack icons as well. They look pretty easy.

Those knobs where the hips attach to the nose are just waaaay too big. Also, there seems to be a lot of unusual gapping in the seams, especially on the upper legs. I do hope this is an earlier painted prototype, because as a production toy, this doesn't look too good.

This may have been discussed before, but I don't remember it. If so, I'm an idiot. Also, I didn't put this into the Games section because it deals more with a VF design and not the gameplay itself. So, I was watching the VF-X intro and noticed that the VF-19 shown in the beginning is equipped with FASTpacks more akin to the VF-1's than the ugly ones we've come to know and love (or hate). What's up with that? I've never seen any lineart of these FASTpacks and I didn't see any sketches of them in the Design Works book. Does anyone have any info on these? (sorry for the pic quality)

Harmony Gold & Toynami releasing DYRL? Toys
the white drew carey replied to Duke Togo's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
From dictionary.com an·i·me ( P ) Pronunciation Key (n-m) n. A style of animation developed in Japan, characterized by stylized colorful art, futuristic settings, violence, and sex. I don't think Care Bears or My Little Pony can be classified as anime. Eh... dictionaries have been known to be wrong. IIRC- The word "anime" is what the japanese call all animation, not matter where it's origin. Referring only to Japanese animation as "anime" is actually a Western concept. -
That's really cool. Now make a jet-powered one!!!

Sorry!!! Great book, though. Of course, I've always let it be known that I'm a big Clancy fan. One thing I'm curious about: The term VFERR which was also used in those new pics from Hobby Japan that Graham posted, is that acronym canon ot not*? *I haven't had a chance to see any of the M-zero shows yet...

the white drew carey replied to buddhafabio's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
So it's going to be 4 feet long... I've seen it already!!! =P -
What David said. Also, I don't see how launching those drones in flight would be any different than a plane launching a missile. IIRC, even the UK's Sea Harrier has a variant with missiles mounted on top of the wings. Also, in the real world, the decoys aren't meant to visually fool the enemy, but to return a signature that seems like it's a real target*. *the Russians do a good one in Red Storm Rising.

You misspelled "misspelled".

Check it out, there's a HUGE mistake with this picture: Taking into account the angle of the camera, the ground and the SV-51, there's no way in this physical universe that plane will be shaded like that. All the shadows should be on the "top" of the plane, not underneath. Looks like these model pros aren't great at everything, eh?

Yeah, but... The Deathscythe? I applaud your vision and tenacity, but I can't get behind your project fully because I absolutely abhor almost all AU Gundam designs. Shoulda made an Alex Good luck hauling that thing around! -
Yeah. I said that a long time ago, look up.
