  1. I think the anime parts make up a lot of the greeblies. But I'm not sure which ones.
  2. Overall I say excellent work. The one problem, and it is quite glaring, is that the cockpit/canopies are waaaay too big. The look like the RT Veritech fighter toy from the 80's.
  3. No, that line should just die out. Bad luck comes with that name. While I agree that the original macross Digital Mission VFX was a steaming pile of dog poo, the sequel 'VF-X2', was pretty good IMO. It had a great story and pretty good gameplay. It's definitely in my top 5 favorite Playstation games along with Armored Core, Bushido Blade, Ace Combat 2 & Macross Plus Game Edition. Graham I agree. I had no problems at all with VFX-2. i still think it's a great game, with some pretty damned good graphics for the PS1. I'm actually thoroughly disappointed with the gameplay of the Armored Core series after the original, and think that VFX-2 is the best mecha action game on the system (Front Mission 3 being the best overall mecha game, but it's a turn-based strategy game).
  4. Macross M3- Blows Chunks. VF-9 Cutlass- Coolest VF design ever... at least to me. Althought the Battroid mode isn't spectacular, I love the sleak, sporty look it has in fighter mode, and I also think it has the most intriguing and decidedly unique GERWALK mode of any VF (with the VF-17's "I'm about to fall over" GERWALK stance taking a close second).
  5. True. Just as the YF/VF-19 is obviously a relative of the VF-11, the VF-9 shares many of the same characteristics as the VF-4.
  6. Argh!!! I forgot to save my layer with all of the shading!!! Stupid, stupid Jeff!!! [*smack***]
  7. I've edited into the first post of the thread.
  8. HelloHikaru- I used the image from the bottom right corner on the same page the one you posted is seen on (in the Macross Design Works book). I couldn't, and didn't want to, bend it enough to use that sketch as my base.

  11. I worked out a lineart for the VF-9 Cutlass. I accidentally saved the version with constant colors added. Sorry. You can paint them out when you download it, if you please. Go HERE and click on the picture to see, and download, the full-sized version.
  12. Yeah, it surprised me the first time I noticed it, too!!!
  13. No problem at all. You can just flip it on it's tail, save that version, and then edit the post and replace the image.
  14. Hey Nied- Why don't you re-format that blank you did so It oriented vertically instead of horizontally? The Mods like us to keep our pictures at or about 600-700 pixels across. It makes veiwing the boards easier. That way, we can dowload it and then flip it back horizontally ourselves.
  15. Umm, yeah... Satan. A quick search on google brought up a page full of places to buy the game from. p.s.- Using numbers for letters is :G4Y:
  16. No offense, Super-O, but there's probably a lot of people in this world who would think that being a moderator on a forum based solely on a cartoon and the toys associated with it is pathetic. Does that stop you form doing it? No. Because you like it and want to do it. So please stop placing the same damn label on me and the others for doing something we enjoy but you don't. We debate about this issue because we all care, one way or the other, what happens. I don't know where you get the idea that we think we're experts. Are we better informed than most others? Yes. Do we all still have a LOT that we have no idea of? Damned sure. I'm not denying that at all. If you don't want to deal with it, fine. Lock it up. But don't be laying out insults at me, or others, who enjoy debating this topic simply because you're tired of modding it. edit-speling and gramer

    YF-1R

The YF-1R is an HG creation based on an animation mistake. The mistake is of a VF-1A that also has small lasers coming from each side of the head, ala' VF-1J or VF-D looking. The YF-1R by HG has a head designed by Tommy Yune which retains the two side lasers, but also has a hexagonal faceplate, a chin, and vented slots on each side of the chin.
  18. Clever use of layers in photoshop. I made a basic template. The background layer is the lineart with a few basic colors thrown in, the second layer is a layer of grey shading. This second layer was compressed from several layers made on multiply to achieve a uniform set of shading for each one I do. This second layer itself is set on multiply. These are then saved as is. Now that it's saved, I can open it again and lay down the basic colors into the background, or use more layers to add in images (as with the Polarbears logo). Here's a look at the two constant layers that I use:
  19. Ewilen- In all fairness, I think we should also provide this translation by Quadrono. Both this translation and the on Wrylac has provided were done by non-professional translators with limited to no knowledge of the Japanese legal system. So, in the long-run, one is as good as the other. I take full responsibility for posting this translation. If anyone has issues with it, direct them to me and not the translator (whom I think isn't here anymore anyway).
  20. Not dodgin' nuthin'. I have yet to see an translation that says Tatsunoko was granted copyright without "Moral Rights." I'm sorry, but I just don't agree with your detective work. No, I'm not (because I think Jennifer Garner is ugly [and lumpy-faced]... ). I was merely pointing out the unlikelihood that a court would handicap a copyright in such a way. Kawamori can design all the valks he wants. And I'm sure if they were produced as toys, someone would buy them. But if what you're saying was true, the marketability of such designs would be cut off at the knees due to the fact that they could not be advertised in a showcase such as a series or OAV. Of course I'm being smarmy. It's Halloween!!! Seriously- I know BigWest does not own the trilateral figure. But the transformation concept of Plane -> Gerwalk (half plane, half robot) -> Robot is something created by Kawamori. It could easily be argued that the creators of SC and Mospeada* (who, IIRC, were creating the projects for Tatsunoko) understood the popularity of that concept and utilized it for their own mechanical designs. I highly doubt the Gerwalk concept would've been used at that time if it wasn't in Macross first. 1) Tatsunoko is the "Commander In Chief" of those projects, they are held responsible for the actions of their underlings. 2) Those underlings based series of a concept of transformation and modes directly taken from Kawamori's designs and concepts. 3) That, my friend, is a derivative of BigWest/Studio Nue's copyright. Something that the court said is a no-no. *Orguss took it a step further and also had a fourth mode that's supposed to be some kind of tank.
