I'm not sure if District 9 can be considered a sequel to Alive In Joburg, since AiJ takes place around roughly the same time the aliens landed. AiJ depicts the plight of the aliens better since the alien psyche is almost the same as a human's where they understand "rights" and what they are entitled to as living beings. In D9 they're more like feral animals needed to be kept in check by the humans.

I'm abit disappointed that the possibility of it exploring social segmentation issues wasn't really explored. The aliens seem to be mostly isolated in District 9 which is essentially a slum area and the aliens are left to fend for themselves there and live amongst dodgy nigerian gangs. D9 is a refugee camp....so the aliens themselves do not ever interact with the people outside D9. Why are there signs that say "No Aliens Allowed" in human areas where normally an alien would be immediately arrested and put back into D9 anyway? There's also the africans who are pressuring them to be moved out of johannesberg for some reason. Someone in the interviews said that the government was spending money in keeping them there, and not for other things spending it to improve the African people's lives or something. But looking at the state of D9, and considering the MNU is a UN org, there doesn't seem to be much funds being thrown into D9 anyway. EDIT: correction MNU is a private compay apparently and leading developer for weapons apparently.

Not much is said about alien psychology and i'm curious to know what happened to them.

I'd have to say my experience of the movie was marred by the really shaky camera. I think it didn't help that I had a hangover from last night as well and the shaky camera really made me wanna puke. >_< But overall good film. Main char was really annoying. Mechwarrior-ish mech was awesome and had a full arsenal o weapons. Too bad nothing much gets resolved by the end of the film.

Indeed...sounds like a bioweapon for insects.....imagine the panic it might cause if there was a fungus that target humans .

wow...the improved head and head lasers really make this toy stand out! Pity its missing the details on the armour that the model kit has but otherwise i think i'm gonna get this.

Started Kemono No Souja Erin, which starts off pretty light and easy , following the daily life and curiosity of a little girl Erin who has a strong curiosity for her mother's profession, a Touda doctor. (Toudas are like giant komodo lizards , reared and bred for war) Pretty neat and detailed story....and for a lighthearted show became pretty dark around ep 8 or so....so i'm not sure what to expect in future episodes.

I don't get the "being shot" thing.....everyone on the net says its fake but the captain purposely made "dorama" that he was shot for theatrical effect and they passed it off as truth in the show?

My friend is playing the PC demo so i guess there will be one. I'm downloading now over PSN but its freaking slow.

My only regret was the JOEs didn't yell "YOOOOO JOEEE!!!" en masse when they were attacking the underwater base. Only Heavy Duty did it and that was when they won the battle.

I don't reallly condone whale hunting but these guys can be way out of line. I wonder how did they ever made this a reality TV series without flouting international maritime laws as well as endangering the safety of their and the whalers' crew.
