  1. Your avatar looks like David Hasselhoff playing the evil Michael Knight.
  2. about three weeks of on and off work. I have no idea of the actual hours spent on it as I would bounce back and forth with other projects while that was drying, setting, etc. Is the VF-1A head a custom job? My Bandia 1A doesn't have the border around the "eye."
  3. Cool. How long did the project take? If I can get a digital camera, I'll post pics, in the customization forum, of the Jetfire I did.
  4. I guess my paper-clip-tail-missile mod could be used for this also.
  5. If you wanted a "TV Max" custom, you could glue some appropriate scale model airplane missiles to a couple of paper clips and slide the assemblies right on the VF-1 tails.
  6. How many "gag missiles" are there in DYRL? So we have two so far - Budweiser can (which I still can find) and an anthropomorphic octopus.
  7. That's strange; maybe my copy of DYRL is different. I wish I had a way of posting up the still shot of what is on my TV screen. The missile/can has a picture of a man and a couple of Japanese characters - no Budweiser logo, though.
  8. That's a beer can? Of course, I can't read Japanese, so I won't feel too stupid if the Japanese characters spell out "beer."
  9. Exactly where is this in the movie? I did notice where one of Hikaru's missiles has some picture and writing on it, but it doesn't look like any Budweiser can I am familiar with.

    My dream..

That would be cool. Be sure to post the step-by-step pics, if you do.
  11. I looked at the pics on Valkyrie-Exchange.com, and I was still unsure. When I first saw Macross Plus, I said to a friend, "I wish somebody would make a toy of these planes." Today, I looked at/held the YF-21 w/fast packs (still in the box) closely and still didn't have the overwhelming urge to buy it.
  12. I found a place selling the YF-21 w/fast packs for $60, but after reading this thread, I think I'll pass on the deal. I especially like the "pineapple on toothpicks" comment. LOL!
  13. Same here. I was happy to find a secondhand Jetfire, missing the gunpod. Was really happy to find a red Joon's VF-1J at a flea market.
  14. That sure sounds like the book. I wish I had it in front of me, but it's at my mother's house (in a different town). I do remember a VF-1A charcoal textured fold-out poster at the back of it. yes, the poster is actually the super or strike vf-1s and it shows the interior of the valk. The poster is black and it's fairly pretty big. Are you planning on selling it? or you plan on keeping it? Just wondering cause there are some people here who are still looking for that book. I'm planning on keeping it, but I was curious about what it was worth. I found the book for $25 at a used book store and wanted to know how good of a "deal" I got.

  16. The green joons is just a green VF-01. Joons, while the best of the VF-1 Bootlegs, is still a bootleg and suffers from shoddy construction. Thanks. Somebody mentioned that they were "rare," and I was a little hesitant to customize it.
  17. Two questions - one thread. 1. Is there anything special about the Green Joon's brand valkyrie? 2. I have a Macross movie book, that comes in a yellow, fading to brown box; does anybody know what it is worth?
  18. Yes the 1/48s are definitely beautiful. I think the "Enigma Custom" in the customizing forum might have me sold on getting one and doing my own custom.
  19. Thanks, and I appreciate the advice; I checked out the Valkyrie Exchange site, and the company's prices seem pretty reasonable compared to what I've seen on Ebay.
  20. I see what you're saying. I'm just trying to figure out if I can deal with getting an expensive toy in the worst case scenario. I can most certainly deal with "pimples" and "gaps", but "breaks" under "careful handling" are what is most concerning. Truth be told, I'll probably not be able to resist the urge to buy a 1/48, since so many seem so happy with their purchases. I want that kind of happiness!
  21. Thanks for the advice, but after reading the pinned "What's wrong with my. . ." thread, I'm thinking I'll just stick with the 1/55s.
  22. Oh, thanks! I'll take a look. It looks like y'all have a great group here, and I look forward to participating.
  23. I just have to say that the work is awesome! I think seeing this custom might just convince me to lay down some $ for my own 1/48 Yamato.
  24. I've been reading this site a lot lately, and I'm shocked that there are others like me in the world. I thought the Macross sickness only afflicted a few, but clearly, I'm wrong. Anyway, I'm considering picking up a 1/48 Yamato; however, I'm a little concerned about their durability after breifly handling my friend's prized VF-1A Max. Are there any problems, other than the "backpack" hinge?
