  1. You might try searching the model forum. The Yamato toy would definitely be challenging, due to the die cast in the legs. Getting paint to stick (after removing the original) will require metal priming and lots of sealant/protectant coats to survive transformation, since there's lots of rubbing the way Yamato designed the toy. However, I'm sure somebody here has the talent to pull it off, no question.
  2. Anyone know if the Fire Valkyrie's "mouth" can be filled in easily? If so, I think $30 for a Bandai quality -19 would be worth the trouble of painting.
  3. They broke the molds??? Harmony Gold bought up Yamato?!?!? Oooh! I sure hope they do a 1/48 MPC! Same F'ed up sculpt, only bigger.
  4. I must have been drunk to start this thread.
  5. You're correct about the Sundowners decals, but they didn't come out of a Revell kit. The decal package has Albatros Modelworks on it. Too bad I couldn't get the tail sections to look right, because I originally intended to have the Sundowners scheme.
  6. Even though you posted this explanation, there's going to be somebody who will say, "Oh my God! They're no longer making Valkyries," "Yamato is out of business!" hey now! I was just asking a question. I thought Macross was like Star Wars to Japan. I just have 1/48 yammies on the brain... Why else would I have 15 of them. And more is on the way! Maybe you missed the at the end of my sentence.
  7. I agree with you to a certain extent, since I open my stuff; however, this guy has the right to do whatever he wants with his collection. You may think he's wrong, but it is equally (if not more so) wrong for you to lecture him. My $.02.
  8. Um. . . yeah! I'm going to put my 1/48s up for sale on ebay, but I'll give you first shot for $400 each. PM if interested. Man, I wonder how much the low-vis types would bring if this were true.

  10. Not "maybe!" It's a worthwhile project, so please post pics when you're done.
  11. I'd wait, since IMO the current 19 offerings look like crap. If you haven't already bought one, I'd recommend the Bandai VF-19; I like the sculpt, and the transformation is flawless (I like to pretend that it doesn't say Macross 7 on the box!). Are the Bandai VF-19's still easily available?? The Gundam Store has the red "Fire Valkyrie" for $29.99. I personally don't like the red color, but the sculp and transformation is great, and you could also repaint. Oh, I just realized that the Macross 7 "Fire Valkyrie" has a mouth on it. Damn. My opinion was based on the blue "Blazer Valkyrie" that I have. But for $29.99, I'd still get the red one over the Yamato 19 variants.
  12. Funny you should mention "low-vis!" I was going to do a low-vis Enigma scheme, but then I saw the "UNOFFICIAL COLOR SCHEME" thread in the Fan Works forum and changed my mind a half dozen times. What you see is the blending of my like of the CF and weathered low-vis. I hope somebody does an Enigma scheme in Tamiya intermediate blue and German aircraft blue. I'd have done it, but I wanted something with a weathered look, and the Enigma scheme has so much going on already (IMO), that weathering would almost be overkill.
  13. What do you know? I can take a clear pic!
  14. A couple of BETTER pics.
  15. My apologies for my crappy picture taking skills. Maybe I'll get better in time to post the fast pack pics.
  16. It is a sticker that comes with the Bandai VF-1A Hikaru. I don't know if I'll keep it on there; the nice thing about stickers is that they come off.

  18. OK, the pink heatshield has to go! The head looks OK, but I decided on mostly white to keep with the all white underbelly of the fighter mode.
  19. I was thinking the same thing. I'm torn between the weathered gray and the red. Or maybe a two tone? Hmmm.
