The computer and electronics super geek thread
azrael replied to Dante74's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Guess I'm speaking for the Symbian OS community... The S60 OS is a pretty solid OS. There's nothing really bad about it but at the same time, it's definitely not as user friendly like the iPhone's OS. The Symbian web browser is pretty fast and loads fairly quickly so it doesn't feel like you're waiting for it to load. Alternatively, if you don't like the Symbian browser, you can download and install Skyfire and/or Opera Mini for free. If you are brave enough, you can download Mozilla Fennec Beta and test that out on the S60 in the coming months. So you are definitely not limited in browser choices. I haven't use the mail client since I don't check e-mail on my phone, yet. There are also plenty of free apps out there which you can download and install on the Symbian OS. So if you want a certain feature or app, like Google Maps, you can download an install that. You can do a lot with the Symbian S60 OS and that's what made me want to try it. And I've been pretty happy with it so far. So give the 5800 XpressMusic a look at. So far, I've heard it's a pretty good phone, after installing the firmware update which fixes an issue that came out during the launch in some areas. I've heard that the 5800 XpressMusic feels a bit flimsy since the casing is plastic so that would be a personal gripe with that model. I have a Nokia E66 (it's a E71 without the QWERTY keyboard). -
Puberty is kicking in. The actor is 14 this year.

The Official Fanbook mentions that the green VF-27s are similar to Ghosts. Whether that means their control system is similar to a Ghost, it doesn't elaborate.

Viper's Creed Thread (can we make it official?)

Maybe that's all they wanted to do. Normally, show lengths are set in stone during production. They may have only planned for 12 episodes from the start. I remember a TV show that only had and needed 10 episodes. -
They could all be singing it together.

RDM mentioned in the podcasts that there were deleted scenes that would find their way back on the DVDs/Blu-Rays when it comes out. I recall him mentioning it in quite a few podcasts. Speaking of podcasts, the last 2 hour+ podcast is out. -
Mobile Suit Gundam 00 - >>Season 2 + Movie<<

When will people learn to NOT trust Wikipedia. Jeez, it barely made an appearance and people are already claiming stuff about it? This rumor showed up a few weeks ago. Let's just say, keep an eye out till the very end of the show for something more concrete. -
kresphy doesn't leave this thread much since it's already been posted twice in other threads.

Mobile Suit Gundam 00 - >>Season 2 + Movie<<

You should have been around for season 1 where the surprises felt like deus ex machinas. Next week is the series finale (Yay! Only KR Decade to worry about after next week!!). -
You know, we have a section called "Feedback". Consider using it for things dealing with your accounts. No one said MF was suppose to replace SDFM. It's a sequel, not a re-imaging, not a reboot, or any of that. It's just another story inside that big Macross world (pun intended). And there's no problem with that. I had issues with it. In light of some of the post-series interviews with it, I probably have a few more which lowers my view of the series. And here's a question I'm going to throw at everyone else. Let's say we didn't watch this series on a week-by-week basis. Let's say someone gave us or let us borrow the "entire season DVD set" and we watched it all at once. Would that have any impact on how you would view the series? Just like if someone gave you an entire season of Battlestar Galactica (either the original or RDM's re-image), or Firefly, or Star Trek. Would watching it in bulk affect how you view the series as opposed to watching it on a week-by-week basis? Would you be harsher or feel less hype?

Aeolia never found anything around Jupiter. They went to Jupiter because they needed a suitable environment to create the 5 original GN drives. ...unless they found space whale bones out there and incorporated them into the GN drives. You can thank Setsuna's GN particle spamming. -
Mod Warning How about a certain few people decide to take their nonsense conversation about Japanese culture to PM before I decide to give them an extended to permanent vacation. No apologies, replies, witty comebacks, or whatnot. Don't post if you have nothing to contribute to the topic. And that will be the last thing anyone has to say on the matter or else. ------------- Now back to the topic... Everyone has their own ideas about what Macross should be and how it should feel to them. But in this day and age of remakes, reboots, and multi-part franchises, I've given it all a big "meh". We have Michael Bay giving us his interpretations of Transformers, Stephen Sommers giving us G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Scott Derickson behind The Day the Earth Stood Still from last year, and the list goes on. Now I may not like it, but even I enjoy a bit Michael Bay's Robot Explosions, even if it's not MY view of what Transformers should be.

Frankly, it's this way with any production. A lot cater to what is popular at the moment. It's why we had 3 CSI's, a dozen hospital/doctor shows. Lost, Heroes, Jericho, and many others filled that suspense-mystery drama category. And let's not get started on reality shows that pop up every season like clockwork. Macross is no less guilty than Gundam of catering to the "what's popular now" scene.

Well, once those Raptors and Vipers start running out of fuel carrying people around the planet, there's no point in keeping them around. They can start scrapping them for materials. It might be nice to have a Raptor canopy as a cabin window. -

Told ya. Chances are, the Gagas were used since missiles can be jammed, dumb-fires have a lower chance of hitting, and they can adjust to different targets without problems. -

Where is "here"? Gundam Ace and Macross Ace are only sold in Japan. You have to import it otherwise.
