AH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!! wait a minute....gotta. catch. breath. my favorite has GOT to be: "Braking (70 to 0 mph): 14 ft" vs "Braking (300 to 0 mph): 12 ft" HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!! so, has Knight Industries got a 3-shift detail of cleanup crews on call, so's they can mop up the greasy stains that used to be the KITT drivers, every time they go testing that deceleration performance? okay, I thought it was cool when I was a kid back in the 80's.... but Jesus, for anybody with the intellect of a 10 yr old or older, this takes "willing suspension of disbelief" and just KICKS IT IN THE BALLS...

Hmm, has a "stretched" look to it--even with the shortened wheelbase. Doesn't exactly evoke "pony-car proportions" when looking at that rear 3/4 view. LOL, more like "wow, will you look at the a$$ on her!" May also lend to a drives-even-bigger-than-it-looks feel; it'll be interesting to see what the auto-rags have to say about handling feel/performance once they get long-term testers. After a little reflection, the high MSRP is not as surprising, considering it's the SRT model that's making the debut [that's supposed to be the "hi-performance/premium" level for Dodge/Chrysler, isn't it?]. But considering the hefty price point, performance better be enough to make Shelby Mustang owners break a sweat. Still, for those who wish to "stand out from the herd," the Challenger will likely seem more appealing; I'd wager production numbers will be much lower than the Mustang or the Camaro. Can't wait to see how things shape up in the motorsports realm, once the Camaro joins the fray. It'll be interesting to see if the manufacturers try to market themselves up something of a "pony-car-wars v.2.0" reminiscent of the Trans-Am heyday; or will they stay hands-off and leave it up to the privateers? count on the brand loyalties amongst the grassroots racers?

"MSRP: $40,095" ?!? Man.......this is some ol' BULL SHEIII..... Yeah, way to go Dodge---price the f'ing thing right out of the range of the consumer segment that'd be most likely to want/buy the fuggin thing in the first place...

Ah, but that is precisely what makes GI Joe what it is--at least, as I remember the 80's cartoons: --the totally ill-timed and inappropriate [in combat] rally cries; hey, you're one of the good guys and damned proud of it! --the needless speeches revealing evil plans from the bad-guys --the merciless arse kicking of faceless minions, while sparing the honchos to fight another day --the irresistible urges to find out secret identities of good guys--and at the most inopportune times--even if it could cost you the advantage in a fight lol, these are staples of the genre. while a 10 year old watching Saturday morning cartoons wouldn't give it a second thought, one can readily see how this might not fly with an audience of 20-30-somethings, no matter how wistful and reminiscent they may want to be...

While a Caddy isn't exactly first thing that pops into mind when I think of exhilerating performance potential--I'm no real fan of their styling either--I must say, the numbers for the 2nd gen Cadillac CTS-V are pretty impressive. "At the top of the list: the supercharged 6.2-liter LSA V-8, which is based on the LS9 in the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. The ZR1’s eight will make roughly 620 horsepower, so even lopping off an economy-car-sized chunk of output leaves the CTS-V’s LSA with 550 horses and 550 pound-feet of torque. That’s enough to propel the CTS-V to 60 mph in just over four seconds." 14.7" front rotors, 14.4" rears; 245R19 meats up front, 285's at the rear; 380lb/ft available at 800rpm; 0-60 in a hair over 4 sec, 1/4 mi in the low 12's....oh my! Cadillac wants to present the new iteration CTS as much more refined than the first. But this thing is like Arnold Schwarzenegger in a suit, a muscle bound bruiser ready to rip of its thin visage of shirt-and-tie-sophistication and rumble.

1/18 scale VF-1 Yeah, that's right--I won't let the dream die, futile as it may be...
-
1/1000 SDF-1 Doesn't even have to be transforming--separate cruiser and attacker modes, if that'll make them cheaper.

Honestly, I'm surprised this sort of stuff hasn't turned up sooner. I'd have expected the first series of a toyline to show up on Toys R Us and Target shelves in early Dec., just in time for Christmas, given Hollywood's much more merchandising-driven approach to marketing their crap these days. P.S. Have the 1st series Rambo toys shown up at Toys R Us yet? LOL, "...new hyper-action Rambo figures! featuring accessory machete, knife, bow-and-arrow, assault rifle, kung-fu grip, and ultra real middle-age paunch!"

1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?
reddsun1 replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Dangit, I just wanna know: why does each respective scale of the VF-1 toy have to look so different from the other? Aren't they supposed to be the same !@#$in plane?! The legs look completely different from those on the 1/48 Yammie. Just which ones are supposed to be the more "accurate"? And there's the dilemma these toys will create, i.e. give up on eventually getting more 1/48's and focus on the 1/60's when they arrive? and unloading my original 1/60 Yammies will be next to impossible once these come out. -
DYRL male Power Armor [has that one already been mentioned?]

VF-1X Plus, no doubt. If the stats are to be believed [Macross Mehca Designs], it's performance rivals most of the newer fighters. The VF-19 and VF-22 are marginally better in running, jumping and fighter speeds, but it's just as strong. "Space and weight formerly devoted to fuel could be used for armor and system improvements," and improved avionics. Custom colors are a must [as it greatly improves chances of survival, per Laws of the Macross Universe ]. Color scheme? Would go for colors similar to Max/Millia -1J scheme: Navy gray primary, w/white stripes. Either that, or: low-vis gray w/all-red tailfins [yellow bands on fin tops], per the 332nd FG, 99th FS. As for heatshield art [another MUST for improving combat prowess/survivability]: maybe a hooded reaper, or death's head.

Yeah! WTF is it with them making male characters so effeminate?! They even call the main character Alto "Princess"?! In relation to another thread: Macross Frontier breaks one of the laws of the Macross Universe! Yes, that's right! They actually kill off a Valkyrie pilot who is flying a fighter that's accented in non-standard colors ["Hikaru red" in fact], and in the first episode no less! But IIRC, he did NOT in fact have wildly spiked and/or colored hair, just some facial paint/markings---that may have been the critical factor, LOL.
-
Apparently, they already have done a remake of Macross with "better animation and CG," and it's called Macross Frontier.... Just youtube'd ep 1, and it didn't exactly blow me away. There were just too many elements--plot devices, etc--that struck me as overly-similar to the original series. Reminds me of the whole Gundam "UC vs. AC" phenomenon; i.e. they've glitzed and glammed it up for a new generation of viewers--but essentially it's still just a re-hash of the original. VF-25 is okay...don't like the Battroid mode though; overall, it looks like the love child born of a drunken romp between a YF-19 and SV-51. The "Super" armor is just bleh; again, reminiscent of all those gaudy, over-the-top Wing/SEED Gundam designs...

DOH! Thank you. -
1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?

I tried to scroll back thru the prev posts, so forgive me if I'm still misinformed--but it still looks like you have to remove the legs in order to transform this new 1/60. And it appears to have inherited the "oversized canopy" from the 1/48 design. Meh, I still covet the 1/48's. For me, even with their small imperfections--when it comes to VF-1's--the bigger, the better. I'm still jonesin' to someday complete my "Skull Squadron" with VF-1A's: Max, Hikaru and Kakizaki. -
1/60? Neat! I've still got some of those stored away in boxes, from way back when. I surmised the Glaug and Regult must have been about 1/100-ish in scale. As I understood it, Zentraedi were roughly the same size as a VF-1 [or a bit smaller?] and I could never see how one could fit in and pilot them if they were any bigger than that [in proportion], even by anime standards.

So this actually is the "real-life" ver of the Mach 5 for the upcoming movie? Oh sure, there's clearly some differences from the cartoon car--but I must say it's about the best looking attempt yet. I wonder is it Corvette-based like all the others floating around out there? I wonder if anyone ever ponied up the cash to get these cars into a wind tunnel, just what the results would be? LOL, people would probably be afraid to drive it...still, it does "look the part" of a pseudo-60's design race car.

LOL! Ford GT: passes everything....except a gas pump! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VH7Qh5RdwF0...feature=related
-
Hatred? Why would they? It certainly doesn't look any worse than the last generation of Camaros. They had the proportions of an aardvark with wheels--they were hideous in comparison...
-
It appears the car's beltline is higher, in order to give the proportional "chopped" look. The window sill is up past the driver's shoulder. Headroom shouldn't be a problem. All-around vision, on the other hand...can we say "blind spots"?
-
LOL, those toys are so politically incorrect. I'm guessing PETA ensured the relatively short-lived duration of this series?
-
Okay, that whole "Lord of the Dance" bit at the end was just....perverse.
-
Wasn't sure where this should go--here, or in a "video games" thread: Pretty neat. Although, I did notice what looked like a quick cut-scene, so this could all very well just be the result of clever editing. But a pretty compelling argument for the "realism" acheived by modern games thus far... Meh, I've still sworn off console games. I'll never spend my dough on a driving game so long as I've got a real car I can get parts for to make it go faster!
