  1. So, Bob Dylan is one of the final five. Some of those spoilers worry me.
  2. Ah, I see. Thanks for the info. And it looks like Steve Saleen may have built up some goodwill with the conversions since he is reported to be in talks with GM to build his own version of the Camaro. I can't wait. The mustang boards will be full of brand-loyal idiots complaining. And unknowing Camaro fans will get the privilege of paying 15K+ over sticker for a car with poor fitting body parts, simple bolt-ons, and some vastly overpriced suspension components. Lucky them.
  3. I think you are right. I didn't pay enough attention to that particular photo. I honestly never noticed those in the other photos where the car is further away from the camera. Perspective trick I guess. BTW, does anyone know who paid Saleen to convert the GTO to the Bumble-Maro? I'm wondering if it was the movie production company or GM. The rumor is that it was actually General Motors, but that seems pretty costly considering they could have just loaned one of the show car mules for filming.
  4. Congratulations! Cute car. I think you made a good choice. Reliable, affordable, and you won't have to pay a fortune for insurance. ..... I don't know if it has been previously discussed on this thread (my laptop sucks for searches) but I have a question about Bumblebee from the TF Movie. (The GTO that Saleen converted into a Camaro). Is it just a mock up for shots? Just asking since I noticed that in all the pictures I have seen Bumblebee has no calipers. (I suppose one explanation that is possible is that it could have electromagnetic brakes, but that seems to be a much too costly expenditure for a rolling movie prop).
  5. I think you are wrong about that. There may be a delay but I'm almost certain Toynami will make a Lancer Cyclone. After all, you don't think it is merely a coincidence that the Toynami ride armor shown at the Toy Fair looks so similar to the old Imai transformable model do you? Didn't think so. And since Imai also made a transformable model of Lancer's cyclone you can almost be assured that Toynami will steal...err, borrow elements of the design to make their own. Now when it comes to a Hoquet/Rook ride armor, since there are no transformable models of that one to copy I wouldn't be suprised if we never see it. (Which I think is a large part of the reason a Toynami Beta has not made it into production.) Toynami isn't well know for being innovative with toy designs (they just make really cool boxes).
  6. He did a wonderful job, but his is a different kit. It is the SHE VF-4 and not the IHP. Luckily the SHE comes with everything needed for assembly. My IHP VF-4 is a recast so I wanted to start it first before I take a chance at destroying either of my SHE VF-4's.
  7. Hi all! Haven't been around for a while, but I finally have some free time. I'd like to start building some of the kits I have bought but I need some help. Can someone please take a look at this page on Carl's site and help me figure out all the option parts (P-Caps, etc.) that are needed to build the IHP VF-4: IHP VF-4G. Has anyone built this kit? Any help would be much appreciated. And if someone can help identify and source the parts, I will make it worth your while. Thanks, Melissa reid8163@bellsouth.net
  8. '95 Lightning (tow vehicle) '97 Cobra (my daily driver) '03 Lightning '95 Mustang GT (hubby's daily driver) '93 Mustang coupe (former Texas Highway patrol car..race car only now) Show Car: '87 Mustang GT (t-top car, custom sapphire blue paint, new black leather interior, Vortech supercharged, everything under the hood chromed or polished) Project Cars: '73 Mach 1 (big ugly!...only a few finishing touches before it hits the auction block) '66 Fairlane (came to us as a poor neglected 289 Fairlane 500 with faded blue paint...converted to a GT clone..new performance red paint with pearl ghost flames..awaiting transplant into the stripped driveline is a fresh 427 side oiler backed by a four speed toploader that we finally pick up tomorrow in McDonough, GA...don't think we'll sell this one)
  9. Got the refund today. Thanks for making it right Ken.
  10. AFAIK, only Carl received a kit. ____ And just to clarify, it wasn't Carl who loaned the original for a recast. (although I believe he finally found an original). The owner of the kit didn't want to be identified. And XSToys: unfortunately I only have Valkyrie's e-mail address but the VB-6's original owner may have more contact info. I'll try to find his e-mail if I can and see if he has an address or phone number. A list of all those who payed a preorder payment would be great. And my apologies since I was one of the people who got this project started. I really never expected it to turn out like this. Melissa
  11. Considering how long ago all this started? (almost two years now...) No I don't. To be honest, at this point I could care less about the kit and I've written off ever getting a refund on the preorder payment. That doesn't mean I have to like the way this turned out. Especially seeing as how I am more than a little responsible for getting the project started and that makes me responsible for all the other people who preordered, payed, and got shafted.
  12. I've been waiting on a promised refund for a while now. Haven't seen or heard anything about that either. What a crapfest this had turned into...Tanmen version 2.
  13. But Caprica Boomer seemed to have Galactica Boomer's memories of the chief, Tirol, and Adama.....or at least some of them.
  14. OH SNAP! Those were great! Has anyone seen the "fast" commercials from VW? (...My girlfriend hates my fast...) Those were funny as well. Anyone have a link to view them?
  15. Any recommendations for a reliable freight service? I just bought an engine in Maryland and need to get it to Mississippi safely. Also, is it difficult to match ghost flames? I want to change the hood on one of my project cars, but I am concerned since there are pearl ghost flames on the front of the car that travel onto the original hood. Tracing the flames onto the new hood won't be a problem, it is the consistency of the paint hue that worries me. Any suggestions?
  16. Amazing how slathering a car with bright red paint or flames draws the attention of the local police. Nice find YLM. Poor Ferrari. Is anybody buying the "it wasn't me" defense? What are the chances that idiot was actually the driver?
  17. Got any pictures of her Gaijin? There is a beautiful black '04 GTO from this area that has run as fast as 11.84 at 120.54mph (with a crappy 1.81 60ft because of the drag radials...still don't know what it would do with a nice set of real sticky tires). Stock bottom end with a super charger, but still a full weight car that has terrific street manners. I love that car! True, but I am referring more to some manufacturer's ridiculous claims. If I added up everything they claimed my '93 notch would have about 1,500 HP.
  18. I don't have the patience for Robotech.com, and I didn't see mention of it in the Toy Fair thread in the Toys section. Was the Beta in Toynami's line up this year? Any news on what its current status is?
  19. I don't think I have ever broken anything, but I've certainly been frustrated before. And I just have to ask: Has anyone here ever bought a bolt-on product that actually just bolts right on? Another funny question for the people with modded vehicles. According to the manufacturer of your mods, how much horsepower should you have? I just love manufacturers claims (and I don't buy the..."it is measured at the crank with no accessories running"...excuse either.) Parasitic losses will account for some HP/TQ difference but I still think they are pulling the numbers out of their rears or testing their mods on a engine that is far from stock.
  20. I like my stable now, but I wouldn't buy anything in Ford's current lineup except the Shelby (and maybe the SVT Adrenaline if it gets made). It just makes me sad every time I look at the GTO. Ford has the same interior in the mustang for ten freaking years (94-04) and did almost nothing to improve it (updated console...woo-hoo!). You could finally get decent seats if you paid 30K+ for an 03-04 Cobra... Pontiac got it right with the GTO the first time. IMHO, that car has one of the best looking interiors of any car in its price range.
  21. This guy is a real automotive genius: How Do I Change My Battery?. Some of the responses he got are just as bad. Someone should take the corvette away from him before he hurts himself. It was good for a laugh. I could understand being confused in some instances (some Dodge vehicles that have the battery tucked away beneath the inner fender) but the battery on the C5 is right there looking at you when you open the hood. Edit: Maybe I am being too harsh. I suppose we all have to learn somehow. My husband knew next to nothing about vehicles when we first met. ... On another note, I've read a rumour that the new GTO has been canceled. Anyone have any news? (I'm still tempted to find a used GTO...they have a pretty low resale in this area and I love that interior..)
  22. Yeah, I don't see that being the connection. I didn't even remember a similar wound, it was the other things I mentioned that made me think Scar was Starbuck's Raider. Now that I think about it though, the Cylon Raiders may just hate her because she killed another member of their "pack" in a pretty nasty way.
  23. I didn't think about that. What made me think it could've been was Boomer mentioning Scar's hatred of Starbuck. And in all his other kills, he comes out of hiding long enough for the kill shot and then vanishes. Seemed he was so intent on killing Starbuck that he threw caution to the wind and faced her head on and then let her lead him into a trap. Could just be the usual Cylon hatred or disdain for humanity, or just that Cylons are smart enough to take out the ace fighters, but it almost seemed personal. Maybe I am reading too much into it though.
  24. Show cars don't have a point. 367198[/snapback] I saw a '93 Mustang coupe at a car show in Commerce, GA last year that had the entire engine and undercarriage chromed and polished. The car was rolled out of and back into the trailer...I'm sure the owner would have suffered some type of fit it he actually had to crank it and wipe off the dust the tailpipes stirred up. He even had holders built into his trailer where he stored the mirrors that showed off the undercarriage. What point is there to owning a vehicle like that?! Cars are meant to be driven.
  25. This is one of the funniest things I have ever seen: Make Your Own Ground Effects. I have to admit the guy is definetly skilled though. I'd never be able to make something like that. Not that I would want to, but still...
