  1. Thanks guys. As far as my kid is concern, I’ve trained him over the years. He’s probably one of very few 4 year olds who know the meaning of the words “fragile” & “loose”. I really rarely allow him to touch the “high-end” stuff and when he does I keep emphasizing that it is fragile and not loosen the joints by moving them. I keep reminding him that this place is Daddy’s museum and he should treat it as such. He plays with the lower end stuff regularly with my supervision. Normally, the extent of his playing would be to hold whatever piece he likes [like I taught him] while watching the related anime. He’s been into Voltes V Ultraman, Mazinger, Mask rider, Power rangers, Voltron, Macross Zero & transformers lately so I’d occasionally let him hold some SOCs macross toys etc. He knows the drill prior to holding anything I’d require him to wash his hands. No touching on the shiny parts [chrome] He’s never broken or loosened anything to date and all my stuff remains MINTY fresh. Recently he's learned to transform my Fire Valk VF-19 quite well [carefully as I would] I’m trying to create a bond between him, my collection & my fav anime so that someday he would hopefully choose to add to or keep it as opposed to getting rid of it when I die So far so good He’s even started his own display as far as other kids are concern I hold they’re parents liable for there actions and usually they’re respectfully about keeping their kids at bay. Otherwise, they’ll become privy to my darker side.
  2. Minor collection up date [before I start downsizing yet again to gain more focus] : updated
  3. Here's a group of the K&Ms taking on Godzilla Here's some of them about to get creamed by a giant turtle
  4. How's about this one?
  5. I'm sure there are reviews of the 1/60s Vf-1 somewhere here but whether they're decent or not I may have to get one to put beside my Vf-0 & other upcoming releases, Its turning out to be "THE" scale yamato will continue with
  6. I'm more concern about my valks yellowing over time than I am with breakage
  7. I own: 11 - Vf-1 1/48s - none of them has broken on me. 6 - 1/72 Macross Plus – a YF-19 broke its “tab†during transformation & I got frustrated with one of its tail fins and broke it off in an attempt to keep the damn thing up in fighter mode. 1 – Monster – transformed it once and incurred some stress marks 2 - VF-0 - They seem fine 1 – Garland - It seems fine as well. 1- Q Rau – fine as well So I’ve almost had no Yamato break on me. However, I don’t really fiddle with my toys I transform them to my favorite mode and leave them on display in that mode for months sometimes years. I’ve never transformed my YF-21, YF-21 w/fp VF-11B w/fp for fear of breakage. To answer your question, yes I think Yamatos are a bit fragile stronger than a model but more fragile than your average toy. If you take the approach that Yamies are actually “glorified models†then you should be fine. If you take the approach the Yamies are actually “expensive toys†to be played with in that manner, you may be a bit disappointed. On a side note: My three year old got a hold of my 1/48 Max DYRL, at that time it was in fighter mode, he flung it across the carpeted room [to simulate flight] hitting the wall and then the carpeted floor. Miraculously it incurred no damage. Fluke? Divine intervention? ….. I’ll never know…
  8. I can understand you wanting to maintain scale. you know there are 1/48 toy gundams as well & the MPC-1 may be close to 1/48 if that's one of your reason of getting the 1/60. The 1/48's the the definitive macross toy classic & well depicted i wouldn't even go 1/60 Vf-1 at all, although, it is the completest macross series available. as for the Yf-19 & Vf-0 1/60 they're ok although they do have more issues than the 1/48 V-1, and they're not as "iconic" Here's a pic of a V gundam & Macross together @ 1/48
  9. Thanks for the encouraging comments guys I’m just a lowly underpaid accountant. Not too crazy about clutter so I try to display my stuff as neatly as possible. I am also a big fan of the “museum look†as opposed to the “toy store lookâ€. I can be pretty anal at sometimes, if you’ll notice that all my Valks are displayed with other mechas and military vehicles of around the same scales haven’t had the time and will to paint the ground crew though. The basement is my “de-tox/de-stress†area. When I feel like taking a break from life I come down there.
  10. Hi guys, Here are some collection pic updates, needless to say i need more focus http://ca.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/lurkerx_p...re2&.src=ph
  11. Never had a "dancing avatar" mate ... must be a different user.
  12. All of you have great collections its good to have a thread like this to see how other collectors display their stuff and get some fresh ideas how to re-arrange your own Hey Vermillion21, whatever happened to your sexy dancing hypnotic avatar I really must've been away for a long time
  13. Since the movie 40 year old virgin showed I've had at least a couple of freinds compare me to its protagonist. Of course I clearly point out relevant inconsistencies such as I'm married with a kid.
  14. Hey man, Its actually @ 1/72 that whole shelf is scaled @ 1/72 I'm kind of a "scale freak" and like displaying same scaled stuff together especially macross stuff The aoshima dropship & the APC came built. Its pretty cool, well detailed, solid diecast and you can actually shove the APC in the dropship
  15. Haven't posted in awhile....but my collection has grown a little since My macross stuff: http://ca.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/lurkerx_p...m/ph//my_photos The rest of it: http://ca.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/lurkerx_photo/my_photos
  16. Actually, the MPC alphas kind of grew on me I actually like it. I got the set as an alternative to the ridiculously priced gakken 1/35 I've alwasy like the alphas, and given the very limited alternatives I went with the toynami ones. There actually quite good I just don't like how easily the paint chips ans how the heads are crooked and paint isnt perfect etc. bottom line is that I got these as something to deviate from the vf-1 design I have all the released 1/48 vf-1's already and wanted some alphas. so get these if you like alphas or something other than the vf-1's obviously MPCs don't hold a candle to the 1/48s but given your options the MPC alphas are a good buy for what it is. heck 1 gakken 1/35 is enough to pay for 3 MPC alphas and plus gakken never made a shadow alpha.
  17. "wiggle and jiggle as you tug downward. sounds like the leg isn't coming down far enough." nah, its not that, I have already achieved maximum "protrusion" with minimal effort The problem is due to the abnormal tighness of the knee joint I tried some artificial lubrication but it just doesn't seem to release the tension around the crevices Its the "tight" unreachable screw that's preventing any joint movement.
  18. Hi, I just got all three MPC alphas and am having problems with my R. Bartley Alpha the right leg joint will NOT bend I tried to exert reasonable force but it just won't budge Help???

    Kids and your toys

I too have a 2 year old son. Its funny I was the one who introduced him to my toy lair, since he was about six months I would take him to the basement [where my toys are] to calm him down he really wouldn't ask to touch anything and be satisfied just looking. However, fairly recently I introduced him to Superman & Spiderman and since then he's been asking to touch everything. I usually give in when its just cheap action figures like superman, mcfarlane aliens he gets fraustrated when the joints doesn't bend his way. So far the only casualty is the mcfarlane robocop he threw out of fraustration breaking its legs. I don't give in for any of my expensive ones e.g. 1/48 valks, SOCs, chogokins etc. awhile back I accidentaly left my Max 1/48 on the couch after playing with it, he got hold of it tried to "make it fly" surprisingly or luckly it didn't sustain any damage. I've also got a 9 year old nephew who I sometimes pay $5.00 per hour to reorganize and dust my shelves and toys he does an excellent job actually in organizing shelves to avoid crowding toys. Never breaks, plays with, anything and comes up with "exciting" new toy re-positioning. He's my toy shelving analyst. Sometimes he surprises me with he's reasoning as to why he positions toys the way he did eg lighting, similarities etc. I think if you speak to kids like adults and explain thing it will be fine of course some kids are just plain pricks/ brats mine you I've been lucky that I haven't had the pleasure of encountering any thus far.
  20. 1/48's = 8 every release 1/60's = 0 1/72's = 3 1st three release
  21. being a fan of aliens & pred. i was going to pick up the 12" pred & alien MF figs but after i've picked up every single 6" Aliens & predator MF figure i decided not to extend it to 12" in figs. the material used on the AVP figs are just too brittle that i broke one of the preds while removing it from the box. while i was trying to superglue it together i accidentally squirted glue on one of its eye removed the color for half its mask needless to say i'm not very impressed. MF looks amazing but for quality its just pure garbage!
  22. its too bad i was kind of expecting the 2 seater valks to come next. and the armored valk maybe the sales for max & milla 1/48 were significantly less than expected. but they should expect this when the release 2 $150US valks in the same month. they should have done it in intervals of about 3-4 months each to give the average fan-boy a chance to recover before another purchase.
  23. i picked up the M7 movie and didn't even finish it to me it was just so outrageous that a valk would be piloted with a musical insturment with a music boom box singing showdown amongst enemies??? what the heck??? i just couldn't bear it after the singing showdown b|w the fire valk pilot and the giant female zen i just dozed off. i like and have the toys though and i just keep trying to erease that picture of the fire valks shoulders actually being speaker boxes i keep saying to myself it houses missle pods not speakers. guitar pilot stick???? speaker boom box shoulder???
  24. hi all, i just acquired the whole set of ms in pocket off ebay everything is ok however, the v & f91 gundams have a significant amount of yellowing on them i guess the previous owner had them displayed where the sun can reach them. in any case, i've tried "mr. clean ereaser" with marginal success i was considering sanding it with some super fine steel wool good idea??? or maybe i should just get some gundam markers and "marker" the damn things. suggestions anyone???
  25. after seeing how the 1/48 valk stacks up to the gp-01fb 1/60 i'm rather confused about its scale. i don't know if any of you are familiar with the academy mk-II bootleg its about 15.5 inches, a 1/48 valk comes to about its crotch i always thought that the mk-II bootleg was about 1/40ish now seeing that picture of the gp-01fb 1/60 against the 1/48 valk puts my scales out of whack. as the picture clearly indicates that a 1/60 gundam is about as large as my mk-II bootleg. the only way i can reconcile this new evidence with my scale beliefs is to say that the gp-01fb would be significantly larger than a mk-II so is it correct to say this?
