So I can get the GBP VF-IJ priced for Y12700 at a local store tomorrow. I'm very torn, so i'm asking you guys for advice: 1) Is this figure more of a toy than an expensive model? Meaning, is it fun to play with? That's kind of what i'm looking for. 2) Is the transformation relatively simple and easy compared to the 1/60's and 1/48's? 3) Is the partsforming a pain or relatively painless? The add-on landing gear instinctively bugs me, but i'm wondering how much of an issue it would be. Overall, do you find that it's worth the price?

There's one auction going on on Yahoo Japan for the Yamato figure, and it's already gone past $750. If this is less than that then I will happily buy it. I was really, really hoping that Arcadia would have re-released their figure, but you snooze you lose.

Holy god, I have to say that that is the best looking Voltron that I have ever seen. It makes Mad Toys's Golion look like junk! I just wish it wasn't a Toynami product - you just know that the QC is going to be horrible. Still, it looks so good that I may take the plunge sight unseen....

I have to say, it looks incredible. And at 18" it'll be the same size as Hasbro's new Devastator. Triple the price though probably. Still, i'm gonna get this. It just looks too good, even with Toynami's terrible QC history.

Yeah, brick and mortar in Japan is almost impossible to find stuff like this for. My best bet right now is Amazon.jp, where I snagged one for Y28000

Toysbuddy is also sold out! You guys move fast.
-
And it's sold out. Dammit.

Can you cancel easily with Nippon Yasan?
-
Ironically CD Japan doesn't allow shipping to Japan....
-
If anyone ordered a second by accident i'd be happy to take it off your hands! Please? Oh God...
-
Even here in Japan, that was seriously less than a 3 second sell-out. That's impossible.

I must be doing something wrong then. Every time I move it slightly in battroid mode the stomach untabs from the waist. If not for the bracket the battroid mode would be good for posing alone. This figure has me so conflicted. Jet mode is pure sex. Gerwalk with the missile container stowed is perfectly tight, the joints are all great, the transformation is simple and fun.....it's just robot mode needs a damn bracket! AGH. The toy is literally 90% perfect. If anyone has any suggestions on how to strengthen the battroid without using a bracket, let me know. It bugs me so much that I will probably end up selling it if there isn't a fix. I can't believe Bandai dropped the ball so hard on this. It's like the Macross Quarter all over again. For a toy this pricey, it should be able to support its own damn weight.
-
Ok, out of the box it comes.
-
I ended up getting one, but when I discovered it needed an external support tab I decided not to take it out of the box. That sort of thing really, really turns me off of a toy, especially one this pricey. How floppy is it without the bracket piece attached? Is the bracket really necessary?

Anyone else having trouble opening the two flaps for the front landing gear? I can't seem to get them to open whatsoever, and i'm afraid of putting too much stress on them if I brute force it. Do they pull out, then open, or just swing open from their original position?
-
Just got it, and it's a pretty bird. The right arm can't really hold the weight of the gunpod, and there's the issue with the ankles that's of concern, but apart from that i'm pretty happy (however the metal hip bar is incredibly frustrating).
-
It's a gorgeous figure, it's just that missile pod is so damn awkward. I'll buy it for the jet mode alone though.

So I found a store in Tokyo that's selling the 1/3000 Yamato SDF-1.....for $640 Argh. I'm tempted, but man, that's a lot of money, I....I don't think I can do it.
-
Me too, now I'm kicking myself
-
I've gotten bitten with Macross-class ship fever. Since there are no 1/3000 Yamato Sdf-1's to be found anywhere on the planet, I've started seriously considering buying the Macross Quarter instead. However I've read some pretty critical reviews of it. So I ask you, should I take the plunge and buy it or wait a few years for an actual Sdf-1 to surface again?
-
Yeah no, for that price I could buy an SDF 1 which has a lot more bang for your buck than this thing

Screw this noise. I'm not paying an almost 100% markup. I'll take my chances in October when it's released.
