    1/72 VF-25g

Hi everyone, I have been scouring the net to try and find pictures of really well done 1/72 vf-25g's that have been painted. It seems like everyone has just been doing Alto's and Ozma's, so I was wondering if any of you guys have found good examples of a well made VF-25g? sorry if this is in the wrong section..... Thanks (this is just to get a feel and idea for how I should paint mine if any of you were wondering)
  2. So, I know it has been a few years (I think 2?) since the last post in this thread, but I was really wondering as to whether this project was ever fully completed by WM Cheng, and if it was, if there were any pictures of the fully completed kit? Does anyone know Oo? TIA
  3. Sorry for being such a noob guys, but how in the world do you clean the mold release oil stuff off of the DX valk without damaging any of the paints or decals? And how in the world do you do it so that all of the surfaces on the toy are clean? I just don't want to damage or rub of any of the paint applications....
  4. Well, I guess it all comes down to a matter of opinion really. I personally like the look of the sword and launcher packs a lot more than the look of the bare strike and/or with the aile pack. Personally, I think they look a lot more coherent, and do present a nice change to gundam design previously seen (two beam sabers, standard rifle, shield, and ridiculous (in some cases) backpacks). And beyond just the look of them though, I really like the "practicality" (if that word can be used here) of these two packs relative to the ridiculous aile strike armament. I just feel that the sword and launcher packs just make more sense than the aile pack does. But then again, we are talking about giant combat capable robots so....... All in all, guess it just comes down to personal taste.....but I would assume there would be a lot of people out there who would appreciate having the sword and launcher packs for the PG strike if not for the look of the packs themselves, at least for a complete armament set for the Strike
  5. Now with the new PGs coming out from bandai, as well as new MGs that rival the quality of bandai's old PGs, I went back through some old pictures of unreleased gundam models and came across two that I really liked: I really don't know why Bandai decided to skip the sword and launcher striker pack series for the PG strike, as they even took the time to construct a mechanism for which to attach the packs to the model. Many also know that the PG strike is one of the best (both in quality and actual numbers sold) PGs to date, with a lot of people even spending the extra money to buy an Aile strike pack for the gundam. I guess the gist of this message is that instead of making random remakes of the strike frame to really milk the mold, create the remaining striker packs to further improve the already tried and true actual strike PG model, and there really is a lot of product potential here, as can be inferred by the Aile Strike's relative success. Oh well....guess i'll just have to find someone who can scratch - build these packs for the strike based on the pictures....
  6. Slightly off topic, but I really like how the majority of the posters in the DX topic for the YF-29 really are liking the aesthetics and design of the fighter, while the majority of the posters in the model kit forum for the YF-29 are expressing clear disapproval for the design
  7. I take back everything I previously said......this design is absolutely horrible. I was optimistic when I first saw the initial line art, but in all seriousness, this design is terrible now that the color has been added (IMHO). I think the main problem for me at least is the fact that this machine will be piloted by Alto....and the design looks absolutely evil (sv-51, vf-27, etc.). This would make for a great Brera plane or something, but I can't stomach the fact that Alto will be the pilot. The vf-25 just makes much more sense to me as it is a much more streamlined, and frankly speaking, less evil looking of a jet. Here is to hoping that this will just be the jet that Alto get's shot down in before he has to eject and return to his vf-25 in the movie, though that is highly unlikely. Just my humble opinion, -Archer
  8. Just went and saw it in IMAX 3D. Great experience, and I really loved the visuals in the movie. I think we all can agree that Daft Punk really added a lot to the experience. Simply amazing soundtrack for the movie!
  9. Soooo, I really LOVE the vf-25 design, and I like to actually mess around and *ahem* "play" with the figures that I buy. In all sense, I think that the vf-25 is my favorite valk design of all time. So here is the question: I have yet to buy any DX toys, so is it worth it for me to pick up the tornado gift set vf-25 pack, or should I wait it out for a version 2.0 from Bandai?
  10. ^^This I love sniping, and was an avid user of the m40a3 in COD4 and m200 intervention in COD: MW2, and the fact that ALL of the snipers in black ops are synonymous to water guns just annoys me. For example, when you actually scope in, there is this little jerky maneuver that occurs so that you'll automatically be off target and you'll have to line up the shot again. And by the time that occurs, the opponent with an assault rifle will have sprayed you down already. All in all, this makes sniping really hard. And as if to only substantiate their hate of snipers, treyarch makes it so that Sleight of Hand pro brings up the ADS for every weapon (EXCEPT snipers) quicker. That just adds salt to the wound. Oh well....
  11. In all senses, it all depends on if you've played previous call of duties before. For me, I thought that in short, it was a pretty mediocre game. First of all, its the same old call of duty formula that we've seen three times already from call of duty 4. That may or may not be a good thing for you. For me, since I had about around 100+ hours logged in each of the previous games, I really wanted to see some more radical changes to the game. Also, I personally think that the new cod point system for upgrading weapons is pretty weak, as it doesn't really improve the game in my eyes, and simply caters to campers and players who wanted the easy way out as now, instead of getting 150+ kills with a weapon to unlock the attachments, they simply have to earn enough cod points to "buy" the attachment they want. This too may or may not be a good thing for you. Also, your enjoyment of the game will also come down to what type of game style you use. Those players that stick to sub machine or assault classes will have a lot of fun, but for people who move out of that comfort zone (such as snipers) will have a very hard time keeping up with the other assault or sub machine players. To me, it feels like it kinda locks you in to the really linear classes of gameplay. The one good thing i experienced with b ops was the weapon customization, which was really cool. Lastly, if you like the story single player modes of cod, than this one will likely blow you away as it matches, if not surpasses the story presented in call of duty 4. Overall though, imo, it is a very over-hyped game that came off as mediocre to me at best. -Archer
  12. So, I am a huge fan of the design of both the yf-19 and the vf-25. This mix (for me at least) is a pretty awesome turnout. Now all that I REALLY hope for is that they can have their hobby division design the toy rather than the team that created the 25 DX. Or hire the guys who design for yamato.... -Archer (who is sincerely waiting for an awesome macross frontier toy)
  13. Hey guys, I was wondering as to whether the new DX vf-25f tornado is any better than the previous releases. I don't mind the sculpting or design or anything, I just want to know if the joints are tighter and the QC issues of the previous releases were alleviated. Thanks in advance
  14. Wut? I hope you mean MG, or I may have missed out on quite the big release
  15. If Yamato were able to obtain that license, it would simply be EPIC. In all seriousness though, I have been waiting for a legit VF - 25 figure that follows the line art, and obviously bandai's DX line doesn't really succeed in that feild. On a side note though, can two companies have a license to something at the same time? Or does a company have to buy the license from the previous owner of said license? Would Bandai even be willing to let go of the frontier license? -Archer
  16. G - System already does color molded models though. Their 1/60 GP-04 series, as well as the gigantic 1/35 Ex-S (the new version) are all color molded. Even the new 1/72 kshatriya will be color molded. All one really has to do is to do simply clean up procedures and maybe a top coat on the finished model to have a decent looking resin kit. They do look a LOT better with fully painted features though. Look at these links if your interested: http://www.g-system-shop.com/product_info.php?scale_id=11&products_id=119 http://www.g-system-shop.com/product_info.php?scale_id=11&products_id=124 http://www.g-system-shop.com/product_info.php?scale_id=9&products_id=110
  17. So, I bought Black Ops, and liked it except for one little aspect of the game: the snipers are useless. I always like to snipe on any fps games, and was a big fan of sniping in MW2, but in black ops, it doesn't really matter that you have a sniper, as the other guy across the map with an M16 or FAMAS will still get you first. Well, its still a decent game. On a side note, just picked up Assassin's Creed Brotherhood. Can't wait to get playing!
  18. Hmmm.....Considering the fact that there are two "*" symbols, it can't be either the vf-4 OR vf-2ss. In terms of reality then, it could only mean that it is a vf-17! or 25 -Archer (in all sense, this is all just presumption )
  19. Hey guys, just wondering.....what are your guys' opinions on the PG GP-01(fb)? I haven't got one, but was wondering if it was worth it. I have heard lots of different perspectives on the kit. Some say that it is one of, if not, the best PG out there, while others say that everyone should stay clear of the the kit. Any ideas?
  20. I really hope, at least, that this will be the last re-tooling of the PG strike. Bandai really ought to get on with it and make something better. Over the past 6 years, we have seen about 5 releases of the PG strike and variants (strike, rouge, astray, clear armor, and now the strike freedom). I am quite literally annoyed by it. Lets please go back to UC gundams. Maybe its just me.....
  21. I guess my only hope now for a PG ReZEL is for a company like g system to convert the PG zeta to a ReZEL. People do say the inner frames are similar, but i don't know enough to confirm that..... On a side note, I do think that the next 3 PGs will be 1) 00 Quanta simply because the new movie came out AND the 00 raiser's inner frame can just be recycled 2) Hi - Nu because of the fact that there is a LOT of demand for it (well, i hope so at least) and it is Amuro's last hoorah 3) Something from unicorn cuz its inevitable. I just hope that its NOT the Unicorn and something else (ReZEL!! or Delta Plus) Lastly, this new kit from g - system looks quite amazing:
  22. Yeah, I guess you got me. I did overlook the zaku II, so I guess I should edit my statement. It would be great to have a non - main character (I consider char a main character), non - repaint, new PG. And by that, I mean something along the lines of a gm variant or a ReZEL, or even the Delta Plus. I would LOVE a new transforming PG. I dunno, but I kind of felt that the PG zeta was a let down.
  23. Yeah, I get the fact that hero gundams sell, but it would be great to have a non main character mech be translated to a PG. And yeah, I really wish Bandai would stop milking the strike frame. With the strike freedom, this is going to be the THIRD reiteration of the strike (excluding repaints and limited versions). I understand the fact that the strike frame is one of the best there is, but Bandai should focus on making a better new frame rather than using the same old strike frame. In all seriousness, I am really tired of the same old "bend to move outer plates and expose inner joint" stuff that the strike frame features. I really miss the old mechanical feel of the PGs, like in the mk II and GP - 02. Lastly, one would think that a ReZEl would be marketable considering the fact that it has a fairly interesting gimmick (transformation), a relatively important character does pilot one (Riddhe Marcenas), and it has the potential to sell considering it is one of the most featured mechs in Unicorn, which seems to be quite popular right now.
