What Current Anime Are You Watching Version v4.0
GU-11 replied to wolfx's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Started on Fate Zero. Major improvement compared to the Stay/Night, thanks to the omission of the wimpy protagonist. Kiritsugu is someone I could actually root for. The characters are nicely fleshed out and each is compelling and interesting in his/her own way, and the pacing is very smooth. Currently on ep 6, and looking forward to the motored cuirassier scene. -
I've been hoping for years that Figma would someday make some GitS and Appleseed figure. After three years of serious collecting, I'm running out of room, and figma's are the perfect size for these characters. Plus, Figma has become something of a gold standard for anime character figures these days.

That's a relief. I was thinking the guy might either have an extra, or was just plain crazy. As for the bracelet, that's a frighteningly small accessory. You won't want to swap hands for Saber on a couch or any place where it can easily go missing. God forbid that you should do so on a plush carpet. I'll have to do any hand-swapping for Saber on a clean desk, and with my dog locked out of the room should the bracelet fall on the floor. The amount of plastic is insignificant, but the size of the things might make them hard to manufacture. Just a guess, though. BTW, I notice Figma's starting to skimp on the size of the boxes, not that I'm complaining. The smaller boxes help save space on my fast-vanishing closet real estate. You know, with all this cost-cutting, you'd think they'd at least keep the prices the same. If anything, all we're seeing are rising prices...although that could be due to the strong yen. And while we're on the topic of Figma, now I'm getting the urge to buy Irisviel as well. I've taken a liking ot the character after I started watching the anime. Thankfully, she's doesn't seem to play a very important role, so I'll probably be able to content myself with just Saber and Kiritsugu. Damn, these figmas are ridiculously addictive. We'll see how long my willpower holds out.

Not that I noticed, based on the pics of the first release. Still the same silver with post-shading on the engine cowl and guns.

It was a dead link: Forbidden You don't have permission to access /figure/src/1353334016116.jpg on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. Never mind, the pic loaded after a second try. LOL! I shudder at how willing these otaku are in butchering something to make a joke. There are tons of collectors out there who are willing to pay top dollar for a cuirassier. They'd probably cry at the sight of it being turned into a Segway!

Omega, the pic you posted didn't load.

Those eight people better have a crate or two of Red Bull handy, if that's all the manpower HT has to meet their crazy deadlines. Seriously, though, I think those eight people are just the sculptors and painters in charge of making the prototypes. HT can't possibly make that many figures with a measly team of eight workers.

Just a little update here. Built a makeshift window seal for the smoke absorber out of cardboard, and set up a basic spraying station. Also found some grease filters for cooker hoods at Ace Hardware to use as replacement filters. It's made of some kind of white fibrous material that looks thin enough not to interfere with the fan's suction. Here's the setup: One question, though. It's currently the rainy season at my place. While I know I shouldn't spray-paint while it's raining, can I do so once the ground is dry outside? It rains almost everyday, so I don't think I can find the recommended 2 to 3 days of sunshine before spray painting. Anyways, thanks for all the help everyone.

I wonder what went wrong. The mold is practically identical to the first one. Slanted wheels I can understand, but what kind of QC fcuk-up could cause imbalance on the bat-pod?
-
So, I should be expecting an email from them next Monday or Tuesday. And thanks for the heads up on the bracelets. I didn't even notice them on the pics. As for groceries...what is this word you speak? At times, I vaguely remember an act called eating. These are irrelevant concepts to me now...I have since ascended to a higher plane of existence known as nerdvana, while meditating under the calming glow of a Yamato fold booster. I am sustained by the happy thoughts of collectors around the world, and every time a collector receives his action figure, I am made whole once more. Peace be to you, brother.

Aw, man, don't tell me I got a lemon! No way to get a replacement as every last one is wiped clean off the shelves the moment they arrived at the store. I wonder if I can fix the balance with some metal weights in the battery compartment?
-
Damn, that's beautiful sight! A question about the Bat-pod. I can't see too clearly from the camera angle, but does it bank slightly to the left? Mine does that a little, but I just chalked it up to the fact that there's only one front axle that's connected to the left side of the tire.

I'm surprised this wasn't designed by Giger. Does the number 74 on it represent its length?

I see your point. They can't possibly make hair to be in scale with a 1/6th scale figure, so the synthetic hair would much thicker and coarser. HT tries not to use rooted hair if they can help it, but in Catwoman's case, it was either that or make a separate hairpiece for when she's riding the Bat-pod. Looking forward to seeing the table with the Tumbler inside it. BTW, and this is getting even more off-topic, I finally got around to fixing up a little pet project of my own, namely that spray station of mine. Use the cardboard packaging of my DETOLF glass cabinet and fashion a seal for the window to keep the exhaust fumes from blowing back in my face. Cut a hole for the spray booth and made some flaps to cover the gap caused by the booth's upward tilt. Not exactly a masterpiece of workmanship, but it does its job well enough. I'm using this a "prototype" before making a proper one from either MDF (rather heavy, so probably not) or plywood.

I'm watching the second ep of Fate/Zero right now. The first ep was removed due to complaints from Sony Music Japan, apparently. I just jumped into the ep with this kid and Rider. Could you fill me in on what happened in ep1? Either way, I'm liking what I see so far.
-
Got a reason for your dislike of rooted hair? I've pre-ordered TDKR Catwoman, though. I've never bought a figure with rooted hair before, so I wouldn't know what to expect. There's a comic book version from Sideshows? BTW, if you're into PlayArts Kai figs, the video game version they're releasing look pretty good. Just curious here; how do you plan to lift that glass top off? Doesn't look like there's a notch or knob to pull it up. Or are you using one of those high-power suction cups to lift it?

@ Mechaninac: I just ordered the Saber figure from otacute using FedEx, and just received an order confirmation. How long does it usually take them to ship? They WILL be sending me a shipping notice and tracking number, right? Sorry, it's been over a year since I bought anything online, and I've pretty much forgotten how these things work. And thanks again for the finding it for me!

I'll definitely check it out one of these days. Heard a lot of good things about the anime. Apparently, it's a lot better that Stay/Night. I just couldn't get into that one, what with the wimpy protagonist and the whole weapon-forging skills thing. Either way, the bike scene alone is worth watching Fate Zero! I've been told it was awesome!

Almost finished watching Azumanga Daioh. Pretty good; basically K-On without the music. -
ED is an improvement from the first concept art we saw at the fake OCP site, but now it reminds me of a brown crab. Not bad, but not groundbreaking either.
-
Production numbers? Not that I know of. I don't think it's so much a case of missing pre orders, as much as not being able to make sure they have the money to buy it once it arrives. That's the case with local collectors here, anyways. When pre orders open, most would complain that they can't be sure if they have enough when the thing arrives, only to complain even more that they now have the cash, but can't find the items. BTW, is the Batmobile still available at Sideshows? At my hobby store, it's been sold out even at pre-order stage. As far as HT is concerned, items rarely if ever stay on shelves for long.
-
Does that mean you won't be ordering HT's TDKR Catwoman? How well do they stay on?
-
Thanks for the info. Now I've officially run out of excuses to convince myself not to order it. LOL! That armor just screams, "Cinderella, Warrior Princess." The anime version would be, "Himekishi Sindarerra."
-
You're better off not buying Deunan. The rubber isn't the most durable, and articulation is also limited because of it. Nice. Looks like everything is coming into place nicely. BTW, shouldn't the windscreen be tucked under the two side flaps instead of over them? It'll lessen the gap in the middle.
-
Orb armor? I haven't watched Fate Zero yet, but if it looks anything like the original armor, I'll hate it. Is otacute based in Japan? I don't think I can afford to have this shipped from the US, especially using FedEx.
