  5. The price of vintage Macross toys seems to be on an upswing....this one sold for a price usually reserved for the ElintSeeker and SuperOstrich! Bandai Hi-Metal 1/55 VF-1S Strike Valkyrie.........81,000 JPY https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/o468399093

Here is an updated 100% SDFM version while we wait for a possible toy redo from @sh9000.....

    Macross figures

That is a good idea!....if @sh9000 is up to it...it would makes sense to use a TV VF-1S instead, since the characters are all TV based.....I can redo it if he can redo the VF-1 pose....
  9. Once the euphoria settles down...if a non-Japanese company still cannot get a BW license for a Macross product...it will still mean we will be at the whims of Bandai to give us only the Macross toys and collectibles they feel fit to give us....there are no Japanese companies providing diecast VF's...no Japanese company champing at the bit to give us Macross action figures.....no Japanese company, it seems, is willing to produce anything but "safe bets" or more importantly merch tied to the latest Macross series... I hope this "new deal" does not snuff out the likes of KC or KL....in my opinion, whether you collect them or not, these two companies have been coming out with some of the most interesting and unique "Macross" products in recent years....at minimum, I hope they are able to expand their lines to include DYRL, if BW indeed continues to shutout non-Japanese vendors...
  10. Hoping the next Bandai DX VF-1 will come with an available slipsleeve international version....like they have done with the Voltrons
  11. Does this mean HG could license someone to make a shot-by-shot conversion or adaptation of SDFM into live-action using the original designs either exactly or "tweaked" for aesthetics? I mean, if the SDFM series was converted into a bad comic book back in '85....couldn't that also be done using any other medium...including a live-action TV series or film? Weren't there also books? If I recall correctly, they went "deeper" into the story, tech, etc. and introduced things that were not really detailed in the Robotech TV series.
  12. When HG acquired the rights for SDFM, SC, and Mospeada.....the IP holders did not have any problems about how their IP was to be released by HG? I guess what I would like to know is if BW was expecting to see Macross released in the US as basically Macross in English? With that said, if that is the case....why couldn't HG just break up Robotech and reboot it as three separate series under some "Robotech" Anthology if they are still hung up on keeping the Robotech name "alive" and release the three separate shows as individual stories within a Robotech Anthology. It basically would be HG finally doing the right thing. Of course, it would relegate Macek's Robotech into a Disney-like Star Wars EU "Legends" product....I personally would have no problem with that.
  13. meh...last I checked my Macross Zero F-14 was a Black Aces not a Calibre Wings release...I hope this deal means that for both HG and BW want to look towards the future and not get hung up on the past....as that has proven to be a costly pi$$ing match for the last 30+ years!
  14. Nah...business is business as this brave new deal has shown us....let the past go....kill it if you have to? If they cannot get a license from HG for DYRL VF-1's...they still have several SDFM "canon" VF-1's to do (not that they have been shy on non-canon schemes) and all of the "Super" variants....then they can possibly move into 1/48ths...
  15. I did not feel he had to be "excused" of anything...in any case, I was completely impressed by the level of detail on his Macross Zero F-14! Amazing stuff! To not have one is to be missing out on a truly special piece of scarce Macross Zero related products...perhaps CW can now get some licensing from HG for DYRL VF-1 releases....
  16. A new Golden Age of Macross Merchandising is upon us........re-assume the position!
  17. I see no reason why KC would not be able to get licensing directly from BW to, for example, expand their lineup of 1/12 figs from their current SDFM series....imagine some M+ and M7 figs...I think they would do a good job...and Bandai doesn't seem to care too much for Macross figs....but who knows....now that they can freely sell them anywhere in the world, that may change.... At the very least, it would seem they should be able to get a HG license to produce DYRL figs....that alone would be something positive
  18. They received their "legit" licenses via HG...not sure why that would change.... No vendor in Japan has been champing at the bit to produce 1/72 diecast VFs....closest has been doyusha with their 1/144 releases years ago.....perhaps now that the market has expanded worldwide there might be some interest? But unlikely....it seems HG can only license SDFM and DYRL VFs....so maybe CW, KC and others can expand into DYRL? I would love some DYRL 1/12 figs from KC!
  19. With this new "agreement" and fuzzy good feelings, this movie now seems more possible....more importantly, recent "tweets" suggest that there should be nothing to stop Kawamori's involvement in any "Robotech/Macross" project now...TBH, without his name attached to any possible movie, it just won't have any Macross "street cred"...Sony needs to get Kawamori involved....at the very least, like most Macross TV shows and films after SDFM/DYRL, we would be able to look forward to all-new Kawamori-designed VF's and the Bandai toys...heck throw in some re-imagined Destroids and other mechs by Miyatake into the mix and the "Robotech" movie starts looking much more worthwhile simply for the new mechs we'll get out of it alone.....and having them designed by the original mech designers will legitimize them as worthy additions to "Macross" collectors....it's all about the merch!!
