  1. Nice image. Haven't seen that one before.
  2. It doesn't. I was joking around with the idea of what the response of a Macross site would be to that question. It is sad that HG can't get anything truly original off the ground though, but I digress.
  3. I'll third it. Meh. Do we really need more Robotech? Of course, this being a Macross site, I think I know the answer I'll get.
  4. That's one of the funniest fanfilms I've seen. Thanks for posting.
  5. A lot of OVAs are like that now. It kind of takes the point out of OAV.
  6. Considering that the first DVD isn't out, I'd would guess anytime soon.
  7. My US Renditions tape says "Thunder Kick" for the first episode, then "Lightning Kick" for the rest. Still, it goes to show that they haven't seen the first one. Onee-same Kick doesn't make sense at all anyway.
  8. Checking out the Lunar sub, it appears they've never seen the original Gunbuster. The translated "Inazuma Kick" as "Onee-sama Kick". It is hard to hear, but any fan of the original knows what she's saying. I could be wrong though, it is very muffled. It's kind of like how the (thankfully) defunct Anime Junkies fansub group mistranslated "Protoculture" as "Protocol". In that case, the line was clear, showing how bad they were.
  9. Do you know who handled the character designs? I can see why everyone thinks this is FLCL influenced (and that really isn't a bad thing). Beautiful animation though (well duh....it's GAINAX), I guess I'll be keeping up with this series as well. The character designs were by yoshiyuki sadamoto. he's no Mikamoto, but I still love his work. As for this not tying into the first, Yamaga stated by the end of the series that they would. He gave the impression that great things were in the making. Hopefully, that plays out.
  10. I, too, am a huge Gunbuster fan. It's by far my favorite anime. I've seen some of the raw(I'm too sick to pay attention to anything at the moment). So far, I've liked what I've seen. Sure, it looks like FLCL, so what? That doesn't bother me. I liked the homages used to the first series. The cgi blends rather well. The music is spot on(especially the Buster Machine's enterence). I also agree with Duke Togo on the homages as well. All in all, since I know I'll never love this the way I love Gunbuster, I'll sit back and enjoy the ride. It may still be very interesting.
  11. This is truly tragic news. I may not be much of a Superman fan, but he really was one. RIP, Christopher Reeve. You shall be greatly missed
  12. Wow, these all look great! I'm a huge Patlabor fan. I love the variety in the show, as well as the characters.
  13. Here's a cool site. A guy is remastering the DVD to make it look like the original release. He also is correcting to saturation errors that are in it. Pretty cool stuff. Star Wars Legacy Edition
  14. If you can find the US Renditions release, that's completely unedited. I have the first volume of that sealed.
  15. Don't knock Evil Dead the Musical. I've seen it 3 times and it still rocks! Of course if you sit in the front 3 rows bring a poncho. There's a reason why they call it the Bloodbath section. I'm not knocking it. I just stating how surprised I am at being told something I though I made up exists, that's all.
  16. Interesting. I had alwaysheard she had a resentment towards being known as Minmay. That's good to know on the contrary. Guess I can get my Macross box signed next year then. I kept missing this convention. I'd love to meet her again. This time, I'll actually know who she is.
  17. Sure, why not that Darth Vader musical they were dreaming up back in the 80's. About that Evil Dead thing - I was just being random, who'd have thought it was real.
  18. Those are pretty sweet. Also, I checked out the translated version of the trailer. Two things pleased me greatly. One, Hideaki Anno is listed in Planning/Supervising. While he doesn't do the edgy stuff he used to(he much happier now I hear), this is a relief to me. Secondly, Kohei Tanaka returns for the score. Here's hoping.
  19. I could never have seen this coming. Part of me is curious how they'll pull it off, but it's hard to see it working. What next, Krull the musical? Might as well take another film I loved when I was young and exploit it. I know, Evil Dead, on Stage!! Will wonders never cease? I wouldn't condemn it until more is known though.
  20. Blaine, Hurin, you both make excellent points. Blaine, you've even managed to sum up my whole stance on the issue for the most part. At least, you've put it better than I could at the moment. One must give Lucas credit for sticking to his guns, no matter how bad an idea I think it is. I too, have no problem with him making new versions as long as all versions are available, though I must wonder when it will end. it does sadden me that one can't voice a disagreement on the SE without getting flamed in most cases, no matter how innocent the original post. For some reason, if one doesn't like the SE, they automatically hate Lucas and everything he's done since. I can say that that's not true in my case, as I read the EU, will most likely wait to see ROTS, and enjoyed both prequels. Still, I will not be buying this DVD set. It's not the version I want, and frankly, like Hurin suggests, I don't care. in the end, we're all fans, we should respect whether or not one prefers to see Han shot first, or Hayden Christensen at the end of Jedi.
  21. I enjoyed it a lot. While I typically hate CGI in animation, I let it slide if it appears justified. I'd say this was that case. Not all of it blended, but it did add an other-worldly sense to things. At time it looked too real, as if I were watching Roger Rabbit. Still, it's nice to see CG put to use, rather than just being there(especially in cel-shaded form), like Gonzo tends to do. I'm still more impressed by hard art like in DYRL? than anything a computer can do though. I'll admit to being biased towards the works of Oshii, but I thought this was really well done.
  22. Lucas didn't make the comment in an interview, this was in a set diary available on the official site's Hyperspace. He also comments on this in the Attack of the Clones DVD commentary, on how Boba was originally concieved as a sort of rogue Stormtrooper and later evolved into the son of the original clone. In this commentary they make it painfully clear for even the most resolute proponent of the "recruit" Stormtroopers that the clones are stormtroopers. Period. The troopers seen in the original trilogy are simply cloned from some other, non-Jango donor. As for the "fanfics," I was referring to your (please note how "your" is spelled) attempts to justify your belief in the recruited Stormtrooper legions. Unless you somehow believe your theories override the opinion of the freakin' writer. Please note how late it was when I typed that. Trust me, a mere typo is nothing compared to the bad grammer I've seen elsewhere. Also, give someone you don't know some credit for crying out loud. My theories don't superceed the author. I just don't have access to these set diaries. All my statements are based on what I've read regarding the films and such. In light of this, I'd say that not all Stormtroopers are clones. Otherwise, what's the point of the Imperial Academies? Why are the officiers not clones. If they recruit officers, why not Stormtroopers as well? It still doesn't explain why you seem so interested in rustling my feathers.
  23. Except for the fact that George Lucas himself has said that the Stormtroopers are all clones. But hey....obviously your fanfic takes precedence over the word of the writer/director/producer of the whole kit 'n' caboodle. And yes, I said "kit 'n' caboodle." I'm that old. Lucas supervises these "fanfics". He inputs on them and guides them. He even incorperates stuff from them. Could you show me the quote where he says that they're clones? I've never heard him say that in recent interviews(though I don't bother with all of them). Besides, if they're all clones, why did he only change Boba Fett's voice? I already acknowledged that some don't bother with the EU, and provided reasons outside it. I don't get where you're hostility comes from.
  24. They're regular recruits. 1. It was stated that a clone can not be made from a clone. Jango's dead, starting over is pointless, and it's been 20 years. 2. The Emperor hates aliens. Part of the reason for the rebellion is his prejudice. He's also sexist but he does manipulate things from time to time. 3. The Emperor has great influence. He built a Super Star Destroyer under Coruscant without anyones' knowledge. How one builds a huge ship on the most populated planets there is in secret would be difficult otherwise. 4. The Empire is a huge propaganda machine. The Emperor was portrayed as a hero who saved the galaxy from corrupt officials. In a twenty year period, so much mis-information was put out, even Luke saw joining the Empire as a way out of Tatooine. The clone theory and the celebration scene in RotJ SE went against the possibillity that maybe not everyone loved the rebels. This was the guy that turned public opinion against the Jedi. Everything I've mentioned is supported by the films and the EU. I know some don't consider the EU canon, but Lucas does oncorperate stuff from them. As for the holiday special, just about every disc on ebay is the same one Rikter of OriginalTrilogy.com put together. He restored as best he could, threw together some rare commercials, then distro'ed it for fans, and these jerks make hundreds. It's no wonder he won't put the Magnolia Fan edits out on bittorrent in DVDR form. If you want the holiday special, go to the thread I listed before, or even Suprnova, don't waste your money letting some jerk profit off another guys hard work.
