  1. Thanks for the pics! It's good to be able to see a comparison between the SRW kits, particularly Daizengar(!) and Huckebein Mk-III. Can't believe it's bigger than the SRX. Is that the 1/100 Huckebein Mk-II, btw? It doesn't look that big for a 1/100.
  2. Not Gundam per se... but DAMN! R3 L-Gaim kits! Especially the Mk-2! 5,000 yen is somewhat pricey though.
  3. Episode 1 of Divine Wars aired last night, raws are out. Hmm, looks fairly okay. There's also a manga out, too. Both seem to have the same events. There's a nice little surprise scene at the very beginning, for those who have played Alpha 3.
  4. Yeah, too bad. =/ But at least they don't look that bad. I'm more concerned about the overall character/background art now, after checking out the studio working on the show (OLM). It's the guys who worked on the TV series Guyver, Disgaea anime, Utawarerumono just to name a few. Ah well, should still be okay I guess.
  5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kshrnhdbmdg Oh yeah babyyy, it's almost here.
  6. Hmm it's not out yet, the suparobo.jp site says sometime in 2006 so I'm assuming in the next few months, hopefully. No release date on Amazon.co.jp either. <-- is this what you're after? Might've already seen it, but it's fun to rewatch it anyway.
  7. If I remember correctly they're a part of Max Factory (got the feeling that I'm wrong though, haha). So that explains the high price. They mainly did completed figures before. Damn I want that spider tank!!
  8. No Touma (the guy in Raiou, ninja-like robot) in OG1, Alpha 3 wasn't out then. Not sure about OG2, but I think Touma isn't in that either. But at least Daizengar (or Dygenguar... weird official spelling) is in OG2.
  9. It was Masami Yuki that came up with the concept, wasn't it? It's interesting that he started off in doujinshi. Still, I seem to prefer Oshii's version of the Patlabor universe albeit over the others.
  10. O_o looks like a bad mix of everything mecha. It has Eureka's shoulderpads, it has Zanbot/Daitarn's head etc. Probably a parody thing of sorts, which is usually good fun.
  11. Jointed thumb on a 1/144? Sounds fragile. O_o
  12. Hmm, the same thing happened with my Ex-S. I just used paper and shoved the joint into the socket: but I think over the long run this might make the socket even wider.
  13. I'm guessing it's the ball joints on the backpack that broke? According to this you can fix that problem (if it's not broken yet) by shaving/cutting off a bit of the ball joints, making them smaller and thus not as tight. Doing this allows you to pull the thrusters out without having to force them. The guy says it seems to be fine this way, though having personally not tried it myself, I'd say do it at your own risk.
  14. http://moe-news.com/toy/kaiyodo-revoltech-004/ Hmm, certainly is tempting to get this in replacement of that other one I have with all them weapons; elbow joint broke thanks to the sniper rifle, heh.
  15. Apparently (or according to the LE book), the first movie was based on the Original OVA's chronology. So probably watch the original OVA, then the first movie. The TV series is almost entirely different in that the sequence of events occur differently (e.g. different beginning; Noa explaining Alphonse the 1st and 2nd - her previous pets; extra characters), and there doesn't seem to be much, if any, focus on the Babylon Project in the TV series. Also, the New OVAs continue from the TV series directly. The upside of the TV series is that it's got a lot of fun, but I think I prefer the Original OVAs' tone. Since the 2nd movie seems to take place quite some time after everything else, including the last movie, WXIII, maybe you could watch it last. So probably go in this order: Original OVA -> Movie 1 -> Movie 3 -> Movie 2 And then slot in the TV Series+New OVAs in a different order.
  16. Hmm, Nadesico in Alpha 3? That's MX I thought? Both series were not together.
  17. Correct Century? Although Turn A also incorporates all other universes as well, no?
  18. There's Gundam W in BM? Didn't know that O_o. When was this? I know they were showing Gundam SEED last year though, and that was awful stuff, too. Dubbing Ultraman and Kamen Rider's also pretty funny, they should just leave them and sub the stuff. Ah, Odex stuff has dubs? Didn't know that. Is this a recent thing? Can't really imagine Singaporean Chinese dubs. Or are they dubs taken from Taiwanese and/or Cantonese releases?
  19. Lol last time I went back to Malaysia, which was last year, I saw those HKDVDs slapped with ORIGINAL! CERTIFIED BY THE GOVERNMENT etc. stickers all over them, and this has been the case since the previous time I was there around 1999 (up to that point I lived in the country). I suppose the system works by someone paying the authority, and they get the OK sticker without a proper check (if any at all), particularly when it comes to anime. Mangas and comics even get pirated, too, it's hilarious. Anyhow, I don't think ODEX actually goes through the US counterparts and gets sublicences in most cases, some of you might've known of ODEX's existence from some time back. They had certain releases in the market before the US even had them licenced, e.g. Boys Be... which, if I recall correctly, was released by ODEX early 2000-ish. I think ODEX is able to get away with cheaper releases as they keep them nice and simple; without dubs. Hence probably why they might look fake with the packagings. Speaking of which, I haven't seen one of their packagings before, are they gatefolds? Legit HK anime DVDs and VCDs are actually quite cheap, too. Let's not forget that certain anime DVDs in Malaysia are legit, wolfx. The most recent probably being Naruto, but too bad such releases lack subtitles and you have to suffer with the horrid dub, or watch the Japanese audiotrack not knowing what's going on. As for Madman, man, I think they're really making a killing. I mean, they're just repackaging the stuff, changing the format to PAL, and perhaps mess with the menus. (I'm not sure if that's about the same case with the UK market though. Do they have the same procedure going?) They charge Au$30 to 40 a single DVD, quite ridiculous, really. You even have to wait quite a while sometimes for certain stuff, particularly older ones, to release. Might as well find a good R1 site and get a good deal, it works out the same, and even cheaper in a lot of cases, less the wait. It's interesting to point out that some anime releases are actually by other companies here, but that's a very very very tiny portion. I think it was Now & Then, Here & There which I saw, and it was selling at a really cheap price as opposed to what you might find with the same amount of DVDs in a boxset distributed by Madman. Hmm, I wonder if more competition here might make the prices a bit more balanced and fair.
  20. And it is: http://cms.or.tp/~gamu/gangu/gff/hcmpro/z/z.html Face looks a bit distorted from your link though, hmm.
  21. Thanks a bunch Jeleinen. And it seems people have been using Gla Gla's version and fused it with Bionicle parts and whatnot. Hmm.
  22. Huh? Well, in terms of the first and second movies, Bandai Entertainment's re-releasing them remastered and whatnot. Good thing I didn't touch the old Manga Ent. release. As for the OVAs, Central Park Media has released all of them, as well as the TV series.
  23. http://www.hlj.com/product/ATS82031 This? Made by Atelier Sai. On a somewhat related (and unrelated) note, does anyone have those Gla Gla's Armature instruction manuals saved somewhere? Brickshelf seems to have taken them off and I can't find them anywhere else.
  24. The thing with Armored Core is that there is no single mecha, you actually put together any part to form the frame. Different heads, arms, bodies, and legs which you can purchase and swap for optimum performance in the games. Judging from the joints on the kit though, it might be possible to swap with other parts from other models. But that's just a hunch anyway. http://www.geocities.jp/hetare_d_max/galle...E_C01-GAEA.html <-- base kit. http://www.geocities.jp/hetare_d_max/galle...nit001_003.html <-- equipped with optional weapon units.
  25. Sizes vary, I think Richard Gyuo is the largest figure so far. http://unit-g.sakura.ne.jp/figures/gigadaku01.htm <-- scroll down for a comparison with all the other figures. http://cms.or.tp/~gamu/gangubeya/gangubeyab.html <--- Some other pics near the bottom. Guyver I's probably the shortest, measures about 15.5 cm. Guyver III's around 17 cm. Flexibility varies, too. Looks flexible? Comes with a price - the paint will strip if you bend the hip-armour thing too much. It's the rather flat paintjob on the Guyver I that has this problem though. Guyver III has no paint stripping problems so far (looks to be molded in the colour rather than painted on).
