Like what? In terms of defense spending, I would think the Arrow would've been much more of an asset than what they got from the BOMARC-B. And I don't see how the Arrow would've been obsolete. Given upgrades, it probably would've lasted many many years - even the F-111 which was lambasted eventually found it's place and proved it's worth). In what way? Besides, wasn't it the RCAF that wanted the Arrow and initiated the program? And wasn't it the RCAF that wanted to gold-plate the aircraft? IIRC Avro Canada did everything it could to make sure that the Arrow would be a winner. I'm not an expert, but I would think it would've been better to stick with the Arrow and keep Avro (and all of the benefits that a high-tech industry could provide) alive than instantly crushing everything with a pen. Heck, Sweden who is just as small (in terms of market) as Canada seems to do just fine.

All of the V-bombers were gorgeous. The Victor particularly looks futuristic when I flip through ancient warplane guidebooks (dating from the 60s) with photos that are black & white. With regards to elegant Brit warplanes, the best looking prop planes (WW2 and post-WW2) were the Merlin-engined Spitfires, the Centaurus-powered Tempest II and Sea Fury, and the twin-engined Mosquito/Sea Hornet. The worst looking plane was by far the Fairey Barracuda. I'll excuse the Gannet because it's an ASW plane. For jets, the best lookers were (IMO) the Hunter, the Scimitar, the Lightning and the V-bombers. Oh, and ofcourse the unfortunately cancelled TSR-2. The Typhoon is nice looking too. But I'm not sure if it's accurate to call it a Brit fighter.

If only...you guys never cancelled the TSR.2... ;_; Now that would've been something nice. But hey, the EE Lightning wasn't too bad right? The Typhoon isn't that bad. And it's probably unfair to compare it against the F-22 or F-35. I would assume it's more than a match against the latest Sukhois.

You mean in like these 2 pics? The light-blue one is a repainted 1/48. The one in the middle is the VF-0. The Hikaru is a 1/60. Yeah, it's kinda odd. Some folks have stated that the VF-0 is close to the size of a F-14 Tomcat and the VF-1 is closer in size to the F-16 Falcon. If that's the case Yamato might have it right. Look at the VF-1 in 1/144 scale in comparison to an F-14 in the same scale - Notice the hugeness of the Tomcat. *Note: None these pics are mine

You simply can not compare diecasts of VFs to Hot Wheels. There's a huge difference in detail, production scale, and buying demographic. I suppose you can price at $9.99 but then I wouldn't be surprised if detail and quality went waaaaay down.

Vostok 7, you have my support. Fighter mode is my favorite mode for ALL the variable fighters ever designed. I too think the 1/200 variable fighters collection that Yamato will be releasing soon is a good start. I hope that the quality is better than the 1/144 F-toys Chara-works VF-1s. I like the 1/144 collectables but there's so much room for improvement. I'd love to get accurate non-transforming fighter-mode only collectables in a scale larger than 1/200. 1/200 is a bit too small. Maybe something in 1/100 scale? Or heck, how about 1/72 scale non-transforming diecasts? Priced somewhere like the fighter plane diecasts we see from companies like Dragon, Century Wings, Hobby Master, and the like. Around say $40-50?

Without a doubt, Revoltechs are absolute fun to play with. I too recently got the Helldiver (as well a movie vers. Ingram). Both are very nice looking. The right leg on my Ingram is loose but it's not proving to be a major problem (the problem doesn't seem to be the Revoltech joint but rather the hole that it sits in). Um, didn't Boeing try to get this deal in an underhanded way by hiring/recruiting an AF official involved in the tanker selection process? Which then led to a scandal that jailed the AF person and a Boeing exec? Yeaahhh.... Boeing....maybe... if you had played fair, ya wouldn't be in this mess.

Here's a Japanese review on CMs toy: http://gsr.seesaa.net/article/82903832.html The toy in the review had issues with the front shaft - particularly with those pins just like the Collectdx reviewer (as you can see in the pics). The reviewer decided to make his own fix/modification. The reviewer says he was angry at first but after making the modification, he's quite happy with it. Though his hasn't broken yet, the probability of the windshield breaking is 100% says he. Bandai's Action Base 2 apparently works nicely with the toy. I've read a few Japanese reviews on the CMs toy and the general feeling is that the toy (mainly the bike) feels more like a prototype that was rushed out.

I say don't worry about the future. What's past is past. Enjoy what's actually coming out NOW. There's no use moaning and worrying yourself silly about what may or may not happen. Much of it is out of our control anyways. Besides, it's better to be optimistic.

There's a Macross in-joke in Episode #7 of Bamboo Blade. Poor girl received a VHD of DYRL as a gift but didn't have/know what to play it with.

IIRC the Takatoku VF-1s were even more expensive back in the day and yet they were still made for the children demographic. Back then and even in '94/'95 all toys were for children. The concept of selling "premium collector's" toys to adults was not quite there yet. And I think this is the reason why toys were not made for direct-to-video anime (OAVs) like Macross Plus, Megazone 23, Gall Force, etc. back then. OAVs were for the older crowd and I suppose the thinking back then was - the older crowd doesn't buy "toys".
