    In reference to Frothy's opening post, yes, I've been working on a fanfic novel for about two years now, off and on. It's a destroid-centric story, and diverges from the normal Macross-style storyline, where the young, rebelious hero and the cute songstress save the galaxy from whatever evil has been unleashed. While I've done everything I can to make the story as canon as possible, I've taken the liberty of enhancing the destroid control systems with a type of pre-Macross-Plus system I've dubbed 'Alpha Wave'... I know the purists out there will growl at the idea, but... believe me, this is nothing like Macross Plus' BCS. So far, I've got a prologue and three chapters complete, with another chapter about 1/3 of the way complete (pre-editing). Once I get some cash in the back, tomorrow, I'll have the site back up, and edited. The story firwst started out as a Schlomoblech fan-fic, but when I got amazingly disgusted with the behavior of Harm-Money Gold has committed over the years, I decided to shift it over to Macross. Suffice to say, the editing process has been completed, and any traces of Schlomoblech have been removed. I'll post a link, once I get the site back up (That is, if the link isn't already in my sig-line) Look forward to more discussion, folks!

    An interesting little thought popped up in my head... On the 00-Raiser, there's an internal light source for the head (and all it really does is illuminate the edges of the face, and nothing else). I had to order a replacement runner for the yellow 'horns' on the head, since one of them snapped off, and to my delight, the runner inclued the clear eye-piece part as well. My plan is this: Under heavy magnification, I plan on painting the non-eye sections of this piece with a matte black, and leave the eye areas alone. That way, when I fire up the light source, it'll illuminate the eyes!

(9,000?!?) ... just sayin'...

    RT's overarching storyline is something that came about because of neccessity, really. With the jamming-together of three unrelated anime series, there had to be a lot of effort expended in the storyline, just to make it make sense (Debateable, since a lot of people still think it doesn't make sense at all). For me, it just smacks of the slap-hazard way in which RT was put together in the first place, and the continual re-writing of the continuity to make newer additions fit, and make older parts fit the newer continuity. (Does that make sense? )

    I'm glad to hear you say that... Selective Racism doesn't make a person a conservative, it just makes them an a$$hole. Bendo does the same thing. A true conservative wouldn't indulge such tendancies, but rather, accept people for who they are.

    Agreed. On the point of 08th, I'd also like to add that there's a real sense of scale in the animation, where some of the other shows tend to lose it (not surprising, since space battles and pew-pew laser fights can blur scale quite a bit).

    Back to the topic of Convention Panels, has anyone ever put serious thought into an opposition panel? Something like 'RT/HG: The Case Against' or something? The reason I ask is, I see one heck of a lot of nay-sayers on this board, as well as others (not counting personal conversations with a few folks), but I've never heard of any kind of open, public rebuttal. While there's probably a damn good reason for this, I'll be damned if I can think of it.

    The one thing that I've heard about 'Wing' is that Gundam-00's pretty much a rehash of it, without all the suck (for the one that gave me that quote, you know who you are. ) Personally, I'm somewhat impressed by the designs of the Gundams, and the one that impresses me the most is the Deathscythe Hell Custom from EW. I plan to get the model, and if I do that, I should probably watch the show, huh?

    Oh, wait!! I GET IT!!! It's so obvious, it qualifies as a 'Well, DUH!!' moment!! RT's so relevant, other series besides Macross are trying to copy it, too! take Gundam-00! First, you have the GN thingies! (GN being an obvious abreviation of Protoculture), the Solar reactors that are really hyper-photosynthesis chambers for the Flower of Life, and the clincher of all clinchers, the FLOWER SCENE at the end of the G-00 movie! In addition, Setsuna F. Seiei is such a tribute to Rick Hunter! Tieria Erde is an amalgam of Minmei and Max, and the transforming Gundam is just a copied Alpha/Beta combiner! Geee... why didn't I see this before?!?

    Hmmm... As far as the animation goes, that looks to be on par with the POS Dominion - Tank Police CGI show that was produced a while back. And by that comparison, I mean to say, it isn't at all what I'd expect it to be. The trailer leaves a lot to be desired.

    And I was at last year's SakuraCon (Seattle), and I'd seen something completely different. Even though the first ep of Gundam Unicorn had been out and available for a while, every one of the fans that went to see the screening (including me) stood and applauded after it was over. If something is actually worth getting excited for, people will get excited, pure and simple.

    Agreed. Who's to say that your deffinition of crap is any more valid than mine? One fan's perspective will vary wildly from another's, and in the end, we all like what we want to like. As to your second point, that's more of the subjective bullsh!tting of the fanbase at it's finest. "Sure, RT's a going concern! It's kicking Macross' butt all over the airwaves in [Insert name of Third World Country that just got TV]. WE're off the charts!!" Right...
