  1. 'Rainbow Six' by Tom Clancy, and a pissed off cat that hates the fact that I'm ignoring her.
  2. Here's where we get to my personal greivance with the Gestapo-esque tactics. Insofar as they have thier site open to RT fans, the people that they have as moderators are, by and large, kool-aid swilling fanboys that seem to think that RT was a massive improvement over the original three shows that were used to create it. Now, people can debate the validity of this all they want, but if you're someone like me that found the true background of Macross and RT after not knowing for some time, it's a bit unsettling. In addition, these same moderators look for any excuse they can find to crush any percieved threat to the fanbase, wich means people who might find the original SDF:Macross, SDC Souther Cross, and Genesis Climber: Mospaeda as even a tiny bit better than the attrocity that HG perpetated. In it's simplest form, HG's various claims (responsible for the anime trade coming to America and the west, improving on Macross, and beng a thriving interest) are just so much self-inflated crap, and for those few that are still willing to swallow this swill, I suppose they deserve anything they get.
  3. Sound Force = Partridge Family in Valks...
  4. I'd have to agree... Elfen Lied is quite intense. I had to take a break from it after a few episodes, since seeing a girl violently losing her limbs has an unsettling effect on me. When I got back to it, I kinda forced myself to watch it, so I could at least finish the story. One of the good things about the show was the musical score. That was damn good. Overall, I'd give it a 6.5 out of 10.
  5. I guess I should throw a 'SFT' in here, since I agree. Anime, by and large, has a fanservice aspect to it, and there are a lot of titles that use fanservice, but use it appropriately. One example would be Full Metal Panic!, with Chidori and Tessa. Both of these characters could be considered 'archetypical', but the fanservice aspect of each character isn't overdone. Of course, there are other titles that put RT:TSC to shame with the fanservice, and they shall remain nameless in this post (Strike Witches), so I'll leave it as a simple example of GOOD fanservice, and GOOD application of humor and action. (Disclaimer: Blame Seto Kaiba for getting me hooked on FMP! It's not my fault.)
  6. Hardly. If you look closely, you'll see the freight-can cranes directly under the ship, and at that size perspective, you might see it as the Macross being beyond those cranes (which, at the size of the Macross, would be plausible). Just a thought.
  7. Because 'Voyager' had enough fans that were hot for 7of9, so it was still making a minimal positive contribution. At least, that's all I can think of.
  8. You mean cameo appearances by the production staff? Odd, but not unheard of...
  9. Realistically? Probably not. Technically, though, that would explain why Graham didn't mention it.
  10. If I may, that was PROBABLY a 'Robotech' toy, if it came from Matchbox.
  11. LMAO!!! http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/106369-Chinas-Knockoff-Gundam-Suddenly-Vanishes
  12. Okay... Seeing as I've forcibly withdrawn myself from the RT fanbase (with a good dose of help from MEMO and Mav), this thread'd been about the only news feed I've had on the subject. While I mostly read it for <AHEM>s and giggles, there's been one question that's grown from a passing query to a nagging, burning, gotta-know thing: The practices exhibited by HG (Sloppy marketing practices, the ridiculous actions by the RT.com staffers and mods, and even the crappy toys)... are these the actions taken by somoene working with actual forthought, or does this just lead to the conclusion that these people have actually no idea what they're doing? Or, to put it in simpler terms, are these guys doing all this on purpose, or are they simply certified idiots running amok?
  13. Oh, the shame of an uninformed childhood. I had these comics, as well, and I was completely ignorant of the whole story behind them. UGH!! Well, on the bright side, I still like the mecha, although not in that particular disgrace of a story, and in a weird, twisted way, it did bring me to the glory of Macross. And I still want a figure/model of the Ironfoot (Gartan, in the RT-Def model series).
  14. Humility is, if I may say so, rather misplaced. That's a damn good build! Congrats!
  15. I saw this on Facebook, and was wondering if anyone knew about it. http://www.crunchgear.com/2010/11/17/bandai-to-sell-mini-figure-of-that-awesome-life-size-gundam-statue/ If anyone knows how to acquire these parts, I'd be interested in getting a couple of sets.
  16. For me, it's Mac+ and MacF. Around '87 or '98, a friend of mine said 'Hey, check thos out.', and popped a VHS of Plus into the VCR. Just over two hours later, I was hooked. Now, ast-forward to a few years ago. I'd started getting curious about Robotech, so I got active on the forums. I found a bunnch of people talking about Mac7, MacF, and some other stuff. This came to a complete surprise, since I thought that the only Macross stuff out there was SDF:Mac, Mac+, and Mac2:LA. (Thank you, Harmony Gold) WEll, with the assistance of Seto Kaiba and a few others, I'd found out that there was much more than that. I saw what I could of 7, but Frontier was what really hooked me.
  17. No. In a word, HELL YES!! (okay, two words) Cool! Glad you liked it!
  18. Okay... I've already had a private debate with Seto on this machine, but I might as well make my thoughts part of the debate... While I can see the aspect of a re-used wireframe from teh Cheyenne, I can't really see how the rotary guns on the improved VB-6 as the same size as the Cheyenne-2's. There's just a simple problem with scale. For me, it would be logical to think they're more like 50mm or larger... And, like I said in the debate with Seto, I could be wrong... Just my thoughts, so feel free to tear 'em up.
  19. Like the assumption you make that there's a sexual aspect to Guld's attack, simply because Myung's breasts are explosed? Riiiiiight... To associate a sexual aspect to an attack of this nature, simply because of an exposed chest, is not only misinformed, it's actually subsituting presented material for your own supposition. Let's look at this in a sequencial logic format. 1) Three close friends. 2) One friend develops love for another. 3) Said friend finds other two close, possibly embraced. 4) Friend feels betrayed, and acts out emotional pain and rage, targeting both of them. 5) Friend's memory glosses over actual incident, and Friend finds blame on Friend2 easy. 6) Friend holds grudge for many years, without realizing true facts.
  20. I never said there wasn't an attack. What is shown is Guld walking in on Isamu and Myung, together, and the subsequent rage-hit that Guld experiences. I'm inclined to agree with others that say that if Guld had actually raped Myung, she would have absolutely nothing to do with him afterwards. Simply put, this scene is very easy to interpret. Guld walks in on Myung with Isamu, Guld misinterprets what he sees as a betrayal, and in a blind rage, he tries to destroy (or at least, humiliate) the object of his desire, which happens the be the thing that betrayed him. Seeing himself in the mirror, he's hit by a sudden wave of shame, he subsequently blanks it out (which brings us to the point of recall during the final dogfight). It's easy to see, really. And, while there was not rape depicted, the STRONG possibility that one could've happened is only mitigated by the image Guld sees in the mirror: Himself.
  21. <facepalm> You're missing it... totally missing it... Guld, Isamu, and Myung were bbest friends during their time in high-school, as seen in the opening with the Teradactyl pedal-flier. Now, getting on to the bulk of the story, Guld had held a huge amount of hate-on for Isamu, simply because he saw that Isamu had betrayed him (Ref: scene where Guld walked in on Myung and Isamu together). Guld saw this as a betrayal, and saught to punish the object of his affection, namely Myung. In addition, he saw Isamu as a threat, and in his bent recollection of events, he saw himself as a protector against whatever evils Isamu would do. For Guld, there were two things Isaum represented: A threat to Myung, and a threat to his project. There was no 'rape' scene, since Guld's attack was a simple lashing out against a percieved betrayal. Also, the terms 'traitor' and 'coward' are easily used by someone who thinks they've been stabbed in the back, as Guld did.
  22. More likely... "To: S. Kawamori From: Harmony Gold Creative Staff STOP MAKING US LOOK BAD!!! WE DO NOT SUCK AS BAD AS YOU MAKE US APPEAR!!! WAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!"
  23. Agreed. Macross has thrived, surprisingly well, without revisiting older characters. Why break a trend? Personally, I'd like to see a revisiting of SDF:Mac, but that's probably asking for too much. Besides, Frontier did that well enough.
  24. Oh, please... Compared to some of the Major-league Otaku we have roaming these threads, I'm something approaching the title of 'insignifigant bystander', really. But I thakn you for your kind words. Quite actually, there is a point. See, people REMEMBER GI Joe, Transformers, Voltron, Thundercats, and even Mask with some measure of fondness, where Robotech is, at best, regarded as a gateway to Macross appreciation, and at worst, a ridiculous joke. I would think that you'd want to READ the posts before you respond. It would be a lot handier for you.
