  1. Django Unchained is a good movie, an entertaining movie, and a movie worth the admission fee. That said, it's not a great movie. Tarantino has fallen back into some of the bad habits he had seemingly cast off with Inglourious Basterds (which makes that film seem more like a lucky fluke); this is compounded by the movie being a little bit all over the place and its problems with pacing. Some of the comedy and music cues are completely tone-def, and are glaringly out of place within the film. Tarantino similarly flops with some of the cameos he has chosen, and they take the viewer completely out of the movie (Jonah Hill and Taratino himself are by far the worst offenders). In many ways Django Unchained makes Tarantino look like a one-trick pony, and it pales in compairson to Inglourious Basterds. Some reviewers have called this movie his "spaghetti western," which I assume is an opinion held simply because of the inspiration for this film. Django Unchained is most certainly not his spaghetti western--or even a western for that matter; it's just another Tarantino film.
  2. Right, because that would gain them a ton of respect within the industry and with other companies looking to license their properties,
  3. It's a continuation. Not sure where it fits in the timeline, but everything I've read says its not a reboot. Look at his right shoulder (not your right).
  4. I saw it in 2D, because I heard the picture in the non-48 FPS 3D was overly dark. There were steps. What, you didn't think the same thing?
  5. Every bit that Peter Jackson added to connect it to the LotR trilogy was so grossly out of place it was distracting. The Hobbit is not a prequel, and he shouldn't have treated it as such. I am not asking him to ignore the connection, I am asking him to not beat us over the head with it. Cutting out those unecessary scenes could have saved a half hour of running time. That said, I believe this is the second best of the four existing Tolkien movies Jackson has made. I really enjoyed it, and may come to like it more than The Two Towers over time. My friend who I saw it with felt that she was totally game to watch even more of the story; I completely agree with her--running time was not an issue. Thumbs up from the skepitc.
  6. I'm not sure why you call them hate posts. I want the movie to be everything one could hope it could be. By all accounts, it was a bridge too far for Peter Jackson. That said, I will be seeing it on Sunday.
  7. He is, it is already being worked on, and will be about 25 min longer (heard him say it in an interview). All reports say to not see this movie in its 48FPS form.
  8. It's as reliable as it ever was. Fact is even the positive reviews of this movie are mixed at best.
  9. That all depends what your definition of "good" is.
  10. The first trailer was vague enough to peak interest without causing much concern. The second trailer on the other hand... yeah, I won't be seeing this movie.
  11. Which would be awesome. Just as long as Hayter doesn't have to give him the "Old Snake" voice.
  12. The prosthetic is dated in design, which leads me to believe its Big Boss. Though, him missing an arm isn't anything we've seen before from him. Liquid, on the other hand, definitely lost an arm.
  13. Solid Snake, Big Boss, or perhaps... Liquid Snake? The last spoken line of the teaser is "V has come to."
  14. They're being coy, but there is little doubt What's that behind the "title"? Enhancement shows the way...
  15. I can smell this movie coming. This is going to end up being Peter Jackson's "Phantom Menace."
  16. Oh yeah, forgot to mention this: Lucas' yes-man Rick McCallum has left Lucasfilm. Praise be.
  17. Obviously, this isn't 100%, but I'd say we have our director: RUMOR: Matthew Vaughn To Direct Star Wars Episode VII "Me and [Matthew Vaughn] have done nine films together so I'm sure I'll get the call for Star Wars. But I'm sure it's going to be, 'Flemyng, no...I know on paper it doesn't look like much but I promise you it's essential to the part.' So we'll see what happens with that." He pretty much gives it away at the 1:30 mark.
  18. Ok, so, my top 5 Bond filmes as of this very moment? 1. Goldfinger 2. Casino Royal 3. From Russia with Love 4. Skyfall 5. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
  19. It's the haircut, my man. Macross 7 does not exist in this dojo. That said, I was always amused by the complaints over midiclorians. It was pretty clear in the original trilogy that there was a genetic component to Force sensitivity. Now, does that mean Lucas has to smack us over the head with a "test" for it? Well, no; I think it would have been far more effective if they had simply sensed how strong in the force young Anakin is.
