  1. Regarding the discussion... Bandai doesn't "give away" the MF license... Even if they are not going to make the MF toys, they are selling the right to other companies. So that doesn't contradict with the fact that they sponsored the show. They made some money already with their own toys, and they may choose to make more by making more toys, or sell the license. They may decide it doesn't worth the trouble to go through R&D and suffer from negative responses if the products turn out to be bad. After all, Bandai has so many licenses to choose from.
  2. Did you play the PSP Macross games? Basically an enhanced version. The gameplay is generally the same, with "RPG" elements to collect items and simple quests. Back to topic; Nippon Yasan always impresses me with how many orders they manage to entertain. My guess is they will come back again with the same price for another round of preorder, and after that, the price will increase again.
  3. I must confess that I am one of the pirates here. I've bought Macross-themed, unlicensed products from members here. I've downloaded dubbed Macross animes. Many of us do. But we also buy a lot of legit Macross stuffs. I believe we have done more good than bad.
  4. You may interfere with future orders from other users unless you really plan to buy whatever quota they manage to assign to you... If they can actually fill the existing orders, that is.
  5. I can't really see why they can't make it into Tamashii web exclusive if they decide the market is niche. I can understand why the VF-25S was in shortage, as VF-25F had been in excess. But even since, YF-29, VF-25G, VF-171, YF-29(30th), they prove the demand is more than the production run. I do not agree that "Bandai cares not the overseas market", as they cannot really tell from where the buyers are from. The sales figure of the above models should be their perceived demand.
  6. I am disappointed too. But according to past experience, they will come back with inflated price. All is not lost... Just most.
  7. From TD: http://www.toysdaily.com/discuz/thread-203106-1-1.html 2013年6月発売予定の新商品ラインナップ情報を解禁! DX超合金 RVF-25メサイアバルキリー (ルカ・アンジェローニ機)リニューアルVer. ルカ機登場で、遂にリニューアルVer.でスカル小隊勢ぞろい! news fm bandai email I suppose no translation is required!
  8. They never released a movie version VF-1J. The VF-1J had only 0.58 sec of screen time in the movie anyways.

    Its Official!

You know what's worse? You've been waiting at home all day, and next morning when you go out, you see a notes saying "We have tried to deliver but no one was here" crap.

    Its Official!

Please allow me to repeat my old story here: I thought a VF-1S Focker w/ SSP and a VF-1J w/GBP are all what I needed for the iconic ones. Then I found a Vermillion Squad would be needed as well. For the movie counterpart, a Skull Squad. Who can say no to the Max and Millia VF-1J? You've got a 1S, 1J, 1A, and you want a 1D. What's the 1D counterpart in the movie? The VT-1. ... I can continue with it, but you get the picture.

  14. I don't think kids would care about Macross. Let's forget the western Disney/ Marvel/ DC/ Transformers for the moment. For younger kids, they like Kamen Riders (or the Power Rangers). Easy to understand, repetitive (which is a merit for very young kids - parents would know how kids ask to repeat a certain song/ story/ movie infinitely), colorful. There is a new show every year, and they see it on TV. They have something to talk about at school. There is something to social about. This creates the demand that they want to know more and own more. Similar for Gundam. You get new shows every once in a while. And Gundam's dominance is established; if you know something about anime, you know Gundam. Another thing to go social about. Macross? If you show your toddler Macross and he thinks this is cool, and he rushes to school and tell his friends about it, what happens? - The others have no idea what is Macross. As it is not on TV, it is not readily accessible. In marketing perspective, a salesman is selling something without an accessible sales channel. - Their Macross discussion literally ends here. Macross has no value in their social lives. P.S. Don't we all feel happier to find people to discuss Macross here? We may not need other's approval to like Macross, but we enjoy meeting other fans of this show all the same. I might have gone off track. My point is, there is not a market in 2013 for children Macross toys. In fact, as most points out, the toy market is mainly supported by adults. There are still low-end toys around, but even for the so-called cheaper toys like the revoltech ones, I would not have been able to afford two a month if I were a teenager. Not to mention teenagers play video games.
  15. If it is only justifiable for a company to release 2 Destroids instead of all 4, I hope Aracdia would release the Spartan and Phalanx. I don't need Tomahawk and Defender version 2.

Where is the "Preorder All" button? This is my dream. It is a good sign that Max Factory is issuing MF products; although I doubt how many characters will go to the Figma line. Male characters are quite uncommon, although not that rare. Figma Minmay, Misa and Sheryl... (Ranka is too young for my taste, but I'll get her Figma too)
  17. x2. At my age, I don't need low-cost toys - IMHO, they are more for playing, for killing time. I don't have much leisure time already. The lower-cost toys are suitable for my toddler, who doesn't have a taste for quality (yet). Anything different and fresh to him will do. And preferably durable. For me, I need something to admire at. I believe people love arts in that sense.
  18. I was worrying, but let's hope for the best. Yamato is the company which brought me back to the toy world, after 20+ years of deserting. I don't know about the sales figure of Yammies, but my feeling is that they are not doing really good. Look at the HLJ sales and there are always Macross Yammies. I showed my support by getting the valks on day one - even though 80% of the time the price will drop drop drop. But they deserve my money. Whatever Yamato sells, I have the confidence on its quality. I hope this would be carried forward to Arcadia.
  19. Back then I planned to get a Focker VF-1S w/SSP and a VF-1J w/GBP. Thought I'd got the iconic ones. Fair enough. I ended up getting everyone of them. They are just that good!
  20. Actually, I know a lot of people claiming to "choose one only", and end up getting multiples.
  21. If you have to pick one, VF-1J is the iconic Hikaru mech. VF-1S belongs to Focker.
  22. Not that I like the inflated prices by Nippon Yasan, but to be honest their prices are still reasonable. And I am impressed how they managed to fullfill all the pre-orders. And even when all other shops closed the preorder, or sold out after release, they still have stocks on hand. Amazing.
  23. Last time I ordered YF-29 30th anni from yesasia, they cancelled my order. Not going to order from them again.
  24. 1/60 (Completed Model) Phalanx and Spartan 1/60 RVF-25 Renewal (I hope that is not a "being reviewed to release" product) 1/60 RVF-171EX Luka Custom 1/3000 SDF-1 TV 1/60 VF-4 (FB2012 Hikaru Custom) 1/60 VF-1S Minmay Guard 1/60 VF-25S Klan Klan Custom 1/60 VF-0 version 2 (A/D/S) + Reactive Armor Robot Spirit VF-25S Armored One can surely wish!
