Macross Quarter head looks like VF-17S head in my opinion. I didnt notice about the ring, hairclip and Sherlys earing. Good eye ssfsx17. I felt the episode was a bit short but overall I was happy with it. SMS Macross Quarter kicks ass, I dont care about seeing SDAC-25 in action anymore.

It occured to me that the reason that the VF-27 pilot shot Lucas's gunpod was to keep Altoh from interfering with the VF-27's escape. The VF-27 pilot seems to have waited until the tentacles holding Skull-3 in place were reduced enough that Altoh was able to easily escape them just by activating the thrusters. Since no one seems to have known who the VF-27s were, it's possible that the pilot was concerned that the local military forces might try to interfere with their departure. And since Altoh and Lucas were the only two pilots really in position to interfere with that, shooting the gunpod made sense if that was a possible issue.

But obviously that's pure speculation.

Apparently SMS lost several VF-25 in this episode. First it was Alto VF-25, and a couple of VF-25 parked on the Quarter Deck (they must lost them during defolding)

Ok, with Alto unit destroyed, can we hope he got another different unit?

If you looked carefully with your eyes sticking to the monitor (well, barely), you can see two squadron of VF-171 flying in the background (represented as six light in formation)

that's the Denib class Kaitos - the one they were trying to rescue.

but its just one of several ships from M-Galaxy.

the one that the Monster landed on is named Dulfim, which is one of the ships that are saved by SMS (n NUNS? should we give NUNS credit? ).

Episode 07 walk-thru

hope to be helpful for guys who r trying to understand what's happening. no guarantees on accuracy tho

Macross Galaxy begun its journey several years before the M-Frontier, and it is the 21st migration fleet. Initiated by a big enterprise, the fleet invests in advanced technology. Even during its voyage, technology is constantly being developed such as the cybernetics implant and other high technologies, which the M-Galaxy boasts of, but evenso, in the face of a vajra attack...

MQ defolds, Cathy says priority is to rescue the ships, but data collection of the vajra are also/even more important. [i guess Leon put Cathy in MQ for this reason] MQ Captain Jeffrey asked her if it is NOT the NUNS' but the President's order to which Cathy somewhat stumbles [makes it fishy...].

Sheryl Live Concert... Ranka finally reached her seat but the other seat is empty [Alto...]. Sheryl starts singing 'Sagittarius @ 9pm, Don't be late' [not so pleased with the recycled animation... ]

Back at the scene of battle, SMS' mission is to lead the military in the battle against the vajra as the frontlines [sheesh... PMCs as vanguard to the military, wonder how the NUNS pilots feel...], Luca has that prototype fold communications system [the stick on the port side of his valk] to counter the vajra's ECM on the ghosts [which i guess is also what links the latest updates back to the M-Frontier & MQ?], Ozma tells Alto to hold back to which Alto protests. Ozma: "All fighters, PLANET DANCE!!"

Luca calls his drones - Shimon, Johanne, Petero [Luca a Christian?].

Klan Klan teases Michel asks him not to cry if he doesn't see her (?not sure if i got it right). Michel seems to be a cry-baby when he was younger [might be referring to an upcoming episode i guess... ep09? KK and Michel seem to go a long way back]. Michel anchors to an asteroid and snipes a red lobster, but the first shot only takes out its head, his second shot cuts off its top cannon, the third severs the right pincer and some limbs, and the forth hit the torso, sends it spinning and finally explodes. [so hard to kill it!]

Alto was awed by Michel's kill and gets chided by Ozma for being distracted. Alto had a hard time trying to catch up with Ozma, even though Ozma's valk is much heavier with the armored pack. Ozma goes on a killing spree [why didn't the hammerheads deploy their tentacle chaffs like in ep1?] to open a path for Kanaria and her Konig Monster. The Monster codenamed 'Rabbit 1' [hmm reminds me of the Jagd Mirage a monster mech from FSS... 'my little rabbit' ] lands on the deck of one of the M-Galaxy ships, Dulfim [Deneb class Dulfim, referenced from star names?] and deals alot of damage with (reactive) weapons. Alto awed by the Monster gets chided again by Ozma to stay alert. Ozma:'Next we have to let the damaged Kaitos retreat'.

Luca then reports that the fold communication with Frontier is verified to be working. [Luca's RVF-25 -> communications pod (similar to the one dropped by the vf-171 in last ep) -> Frontier]

Kaitos damage at 45%.

During her concert break, Sheryl acts as if she's not concerned with the rescue operation of the ships from M-Galaxy. Grace shows her the real time images - she somehow manages to hack into the system?! [Cathy forgot to change the passwords huh? -.-] Ranka gets a recorded message from Ozma saying that he's at 'work' and not coming home, and Ranka realizes why Alto is not there with her. Grace comments that the pilot (Alto) Sheryl cares about is 'working hard', to which Sheryl blushes and denies.

Back at the battlefield, a vajra carrier defolds and Luca's drone Petero gets smashed to bits. Vajra carrier fires its main cannon and destroys Kaitos [weird - kaitos looks greenish here, but was orangy in last ep]. At the Frontier, they were surprised but Leon utters "Finally"... Richard Vilra [ending credits names him Richard Vilra] looks on with wide eyes... Ozma tells Luca to come back, but Luca seems to want to collect more data and have found something interesting in the Vajra carrier (Fold Reactor?), then gets caught by a lobster which dragged the rvf-25 back into the carrier.

@Frontier Concert, Sheryl gets emotional, saying that she don't know when she'll see them again [probably referring to Alto... ], and gets teary. Ranka cheers her on. Sheryl says she wants to dedicate her last song to a person - no - a group of people who are risking their lives in battle. "Let's sing together" [oh noes, we get a Gundam Newtype feel to this scene here LMAO ... Sheryl and Ranka having some mutual understanding/bond here?].

Alto gets impulsive and rushes into the Vajra carrier, Ozma couldn't call him back, so he asked Michel to give supporting fire. Michel notices an unknown fighter speeding towards the vajra carrier [VF-27].

SMS Bridge - Captain Jeffrey asks about the odds of winning. Bridge bunny Ram had done simulations based on the data collected by Luca, and concludes that the MQ will win if it rushes in at top speed. Mina confirms MQ conditions are normal, although this is the "first time after modifications". Monica sets up the evasion navigations based on the attack patterns of the opponent. Cathy tries to stop them, but the Captain points out that Dulfim will be destroyed, and they have the means to fulfill the President's orders.

Alto managed to find and escape with Luca. Seems like Alto and Brera both heard the song (via the earring?). Still puzzled if the VF-27 was assisting or an enemy.

MQ transforms and fires its Quantum Reactive Cannon [wow, Bobby seems to be a changed person when the MQ is in Storm Attacker mode!? very masculine..]. The battle is over, Cathy complains about the recklessness of 准尉/Warrant Officer Alto and the SMS, but she couldn't finish her sentence... ... (using army rank names here, easier for me )

(More than one VF-27 folding along with Brera's. One of the VF-27 didn't have a gun?)

And his drones are Simon, John, and Peter, not Simonne, Johnanne, and Petero.

(or are these just German versions of the 4 disciples?).

And I'm guessing that Michael/Mikail and Klan Klein were childhood friends but Klan never grew up while in her miclone form.

Just to clarify for some - reaction weapons (funny after 20 years I finally understand the improperly translated Reflex weapons in Robotech) are actually nukes (nuclear reaction weapons)

ビルラ could be transliterated many different ways, including (but not limited to) "Bilra," "Vilra," "Birura," "Virula," etc. "I admit that "Bilrer" is a bit of a stretch...but it was too good to pass up.

And in the credits, it definitely gives his first name as "Richard."

yeah, u can call them simon john and peter... but i was trying to spell them as close to how Luca pronounced it. And those are what i found to be the same names in other languages.

reaction weapons - my impression (think i read somewhere?) is that they are nukes minus the residual radiation? just the destructive force of it...

not yet known. that's why Jeffrey said they must ensure Dulfim is safe to find out more from them. doesn't look good IMO...

Dunno about the English, but the kanji says "Heavy particle reaction cannon," as far as I can tell.

EDIT: yeah, that last kanji is "cannon." Don't know why I missed it first time 'round...

Finally managed to catch the ep. That was a fun episode and I'm happy to finally see Reactionary weapons used en-mass. Granted it all came from the one Monster, but that just makes it all the more awesome. Heck the muzzle blast was so massive it looked like something detonated infront of it. Also loved the fact that it's so armored it paid no mind to enemy fire which just got deflected like water on a car's bonnet.

The Macross Quarter's size now makes a lot of sense now. No way it could have done what it did had it been larger.

Hmmm... from the preview seems like Ranka is already starting at Alto's school (although I kind of preferred the orignal white unifrom she was wearing ). Anyone think that the Galaxy and Frontier fleets will link up? I'm guessing there's a high probability since from what we saw a good deal of it's escort fleet got thrashed. (I'm basing this off from the preview since Sheryl still got time to goof off in an EX suit instead of getting ready to go back to the Galaxy )

BTW, is it just me or Canaria is not alone in that Konig Monster. I heard someone saying a something when the Monster transform. The original Monster destroid have 3 pilot, so Canaria maybe have 2 other co-pilot.

The plane at the top of the picture, from that angle the design of the VF-27 reminds me of good old SR-71. And from the looks of things, it really does have built-in fold engines. That's some serious black-op type plane there.
